This lodge is as romantic and comfortable and well-appointed as those in Pebble Beach. Comparable to Pinehurst but half step below Whistling Straits. Service top notch at every turn. Warning here is that the courses are public, run by the city, and our round took 5.5 hours, the slowest round we have ever played and we have played around the...

I am not too free with 5 stars but this place is up there. The overarching item is the level of service these folks provide. From the kilted car valet to the door greeter, the desk help, the concierge, nothing is too much trouble for these people. They are pleasant and professional and on-it. The hotel itself is indeed lodge-style...

Great lodge feel, love the location on the ocean. Stayed at this hotel for the last 4 years for a business conference and then added some days this year to golf and enjoy Torrey Pines State Park next door. Dining options limited on site but The Grill offers very good food with great service (though a bit pricey). Downtown La...

Amazing lodge! You feel special the minute you pull up. Room was very well stocked with every amenity you could think of. We felt very relaxed and welcomed! They also provide a driver to take you anywhere within 5-10 minutes from lodge. Concierge was so helpful in making dinner reservations for us. Del Mar one night & La Jolla the...

First time at this hotel. Great location, great view. Food is excellent and staff is awesome. We did several spa treatments which were very good and relaxing.Rooms are spacious and bathrooms are huge. I would definitely come again. Just down the road for the trails to hike along the beach and short drive into La Jolla or San Diego.

I can't recommend this location enough! It started with the wonderful staff meeting our car and the great service never stopped. The room, Signature Room, 1 King Bed, was a generous size which was wonderful - no running into furniture. The view out our window was pine trees. My spouse was ecstatic about the golf and the golf views. The...

This hotel bends over backwards to make their guest happy. From the moment we arrived until we left, we were well cared for. Our 4th floor room had views of the course and the ocean that were breathtaking. The fireplace is nice and works with the flip of a switch. The restaurants are very good. We attended an awards dinner...

In order for a property to work for me at the most basic level, it has to not only blend into the surrounding environment, the aesthetic must compliment the surroundings by creating a true sense of place. 40 years ago, I worked at the Torrey Pines Golf Course while in high school. At that time, the lodging facility that occupied...

My husband and I stayed at The Lodge and played golf in August. We had such wonderful experience, we gave my mom and her boyfriend a two night stay for Christmas. I worked with DeAnna Lapont to secure their reservation. Without a doubt, she was phenomenal. My mom and her boyfriend could not say enough about their experience...from the room,...

My husband and I are frequent travelers and rarely return to the same destination twice because we are always looking for the next great place to visit. The Lodge at Torrey Pines is our one and only exception. This was our 5th visit to the Lodge and it won't be our last. Upon arrival we were upgraded to an ocean...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lodge at Torrey Pines is an award-winning luxury resort set atop the cliffs of Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla, California. Awarded the AAA Five Diamond rating for 14 consecutive years, the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for six years in a row, and Travel + Leisure’s Top 50 Hotels in the United States and Canada, The Lodge provides stunning views of the world-renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course and Pacific Ocean and endless opportunities for guests to enjoy San Diego’s warm climate – from outdoor dining and relaxing at the spa to hiking, golfing and more. The Lodge is modeled after the famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena – two of the finest examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture. Its post-and-beam construction features a natural color palette, graceful wing-like rooflines, shingle and sandstone-bluff exteriors, clinker-brick masonry, rich woodwork and natural stone surfaces. Arrivals are greeted by doormen attired in kilted Scottish dress, while inside are 170 spacious guest rooms and suites designed for supreme comfort. The Lodge’s signature restaurant A.R. Valentien – rated Best Hotel Restaurant in the West by Sunset Magazine in 2015 – is a destination for fresh regional cuisine served in an elegant setting overlooking the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Artisan Table Dinners highlighting farm-to-table fare in a communal setting are offered weekly, while Executive Chef Jackson headlines The Lodge’s annual Celebrate the Craft event, one of Southern California’s premier showcases for regionally grown ingredients and innovative cooking and winemaking. For a more casual vibe, The Grill at The Lodge offers a full menu of favorites whether dining indoors or on the patio, while its bar is an ideal gathering place after a day on the course. The Spa at Torrey Pines features signature treatments themed around the beauty and purity of the Pacific coastline. This 9,500 square foot space uses botanical- and marine-based extracts from European product lines Phytomer, SkinCeuticals, Farmhouse Fresh and NV Organics to replenish and restore the body and mind. Additional features of The Lodge include a croquet lawn, heated outdoor pool and cabanas, whirlpool, outdoor terrace with chaise lounges, hiking at the adjacent Torrey Pines State Reserve, a fitness center and the Scripps Library, a public space featuring a pool table, board games and more. Adjacent to The Lodge, the Torrey Pines Golf Course is an iconic 36-hole course that hosts the PGA Tour’s annual Farmers Insurance Open. Whether on the North Course or South Course, our guests have the opportunity to play where the pros play with the stunning La Jolla coastline as a backdrop. Nearby attractions include downtown La Jolla and Del Mar, Birch Aquarium at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the La Jolla Playhouse performing arts center and the Museum of Contemporary Art. During spring and summer, the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club entices visitors with the thrill of live racing, while a popular year-round choice is the Torrey Pines State Reserve, a magnificent 2,000 acres of protected rare Torrey Pine trees featuring pristine beaches and eight miles of trails; The Lodge offers complimentary guided hikes throughout the preserve daily. The Lodge is located just 15 miles north of the San Diego International Airport and downtown San Diego. ... more   less
