What can I say other than a very unique and visually stimulating experience not your typical castle in terms of detailed notes fact and figures. However what a collection of artefacts and a credit to the owners hard work

The restoration of Chillingham Castle by Sir Humphrey Wakefield, who after many years of neglect saved it from ruin, is a real labour of love. Its rooms are filled with artefacts and memorabilia from his incredible family history and their cluttered and slightly eccentric layout simply add to the atmosphere of the place. We stayed in the Grey Apartment which...

Been here twice and stayed over , pretty spooky place to be honest, ok during the day but at night it's not for the faint of heart I don't say it lightly so not really for children as I feel would frighten them, rooms are adequate and grounds are nice to walk around..... We captured lots of things on night...

I could not believe the amount of clutter and hoarding I was confronted with. I did not feel at all like I was in a old castle. More...

Wonderful un sanitised castle, many nooks and crannies to explore, so full of character. We may not have slept very well but it was a different experience!! Well worth a visit or a sleepover!! Go for a walk in the dark!!

We stayed at Chillingham Castle for a private 50th birthday party weekend and stayed in the Landseer Suite. The first night we did the ghost walk.....maybe would have been better to have done it the second night as it was like the film 'Eyes wide shut' where I managed to get an hour and a halfs sleep! But I loved...

After being empty for 50 years the owner has made a great deal habitable and I applaud that. There is too much on display though, a good clear out would undoubtedly help to show the real treasures off fully. They would also benefit from removing the scrappy carpet & underlay in the Museum room and have better lighting so visitors...
