Lake view? Ha!, that's a laugh. For 200 bucks they gave me a room in back that was dark & gloomy with a tiny window & view of the dumpster outside! When I went back to the front desk and said please, no way, they switched me to a room that was only slightly less dreary, with a view this time of the parking lot. So be forewarned, if you don't mind overpaying at least ask to see your room first.
Great view. Could watch sun rise from the room over mono lake. We also enjoyed sitting outside on lawn chairs, looking towards monolake. This was good for family of 4 for a night, with 2 queen beds. not much room, so may not be ideal gor large family, to stay in. Coffee machine was just adequate. Shower had goid supply of hot water. Restaurants are short drive away. Biggest problem was the central heat. Could not lower the temp at night. The temps finally lowered by dawn, but by then had disturbed sleep due to extra warmth.
Close to amazing eastern Sierra views and fall colors. Clean, quiet and comfortable. No maid service and with limited office hours makes it difficult to have supplies for more than a night. Extremely slow WiFi (dial-up slow) and terrible connectivity.
We initially saw a sign for the Lodge on the lake side of the road but needed to turn into the larger site on the other side of the road. Our room was spotless and large. It had a bathroom sink separate from the toilet and shower area as well as a second sink area at the back of the room. Would be ideal for a family! Great location near the Tiaga Pass park entrance (or exit!) and walking distance to super Nicely restaurant. We were also given a 10% off coupon for the nearby coffee shop that we did not have time to visit.
I choose this place based on location since it was conveniently located near the Tioga Pass entrance. There aren’t a lot of options available in this area. This lodge is landscaped beautifully but doesn’t offer much in amenities. Check in is at 4:00. I arrived at 3:30 and was told I needed to come back at 4:00. No worries, we went to Whoa Nellies Deli and got a bite to eat. The room was fine, no frills. Just a basic room with 2 queen beds. They offer a military discount which was nice and they thanked me for my service which I appreciated. The room cost $250 for the night, quite steep, but you are paying for the location. Mono Market is close by for snacks and drinks, Whoa Nellie Deli which is located in the Mobil has good hot food choices. And Latte Da Coffee has delicious breakfast food and coffee. Mono Lake is near by along with several other lakes you can hike to. Bring bug spray because the mosquitoes are no joke!…
They have tried to do some updating, but it needs a lot more in the furnishings. There was a small table and 2 chairs in the room, which would have been great, but they look and feel like they were for children. I am only 5ft tall and the thing rocked all over the place. The refrigerator needed defrosting because of the ice build up. The hook on the bathroom door fell off when I tried to hang my towel on it. The toilet is so small and low that it would work great for a kindergartener. The bathroom sink is mounted on top of a tall cabinet and was about chin height for me. Room was very dark and the one of the lamps did not work. Cotton sheets on the bed barely fit the mattress and the foam style blanket had burn holes in it. The advertised new bistro on the property has a very limited menu and hours. The place looked like a worn out small town dump!! Nothing special there and especially not the decor. Everything in this town is very over priced and has always been so because of its remoteness. Best deal in town is a meal at Nicely's Cafe for eating and it is close to most of the motels.…
I've stayed in various accommodations at this place and always found them clean, comfortable and functional. But I'm mainly writing to commend the managers, who recently helped me out in a difficult situation when they didn't have to. Thank you for your understanding, kindness and good will.
We stayed in a room with single Queen bed in late May on a trip to see Mono Lake. It wasn't our first choice, the hotel across the street had much better reviews but it was full. Hotel counter staff was informative and friendly. The room was small (much smaller than normal), clean, with country-style decor. Walk-in room rate was pricey (they said it was the start of tourist season).
Simple but functional room for 2 including good heating, microwave, table w 2 chairs. I loved that they sold TV dinners in the ice cream fridge downstairs so we could have a hearty breakfast before going to (June) mountain which was less than 20 min away.
Outrageously overpriced for a room lacking in basics. No tissues, one working socket, pitiful shower. Was clean and would have been “okay” if it was half the price they charged. And lake view was somewhat of a stretch—could see a small bit of the lake if you stood in one spot on balcony
