We booked The Varden following a few nights in West Hollywood - we had hoped to stay on an extra night, but our hotel was fully booked. We then checked TA and decided to try Long Beach. The Hotel had probably the best and most...More
I stayed here almost by accident -- was late making my reservation for a convention and when the room wasn't available, yelp'ed and found the Varden. So glad I did.

I loved my stay at the Varden. I will stay here every time I return to Long Beach. I love boutique hotels and try to steer clear of the large chains. The Varden was truly impressive. Very clean and the service is beyond anything I'd...More
The Varden is a gem of a hotel, with sharp facets cut from the rubble of an old, neglected hotel that sat within Long Beach. Reborn through good old American entrepreneurial vision and hard work, this European marvel brings the ambiance of an upscale hotel...More

The Varden has a lot right next to it for parking with no extra charge so all is good on that point. Ask for a darker room if they have one, but we've never had a problem with noise or too much light and we stay on New Year's Eve. It's a boutique hotel concentrating on Service which is GREAT. Very compact rooms with high-end bedding and toiletries. It does have a tv, free wifi and wine in the early evening and coffee and continental breakfast in the morning. Lovely personal owners and staff. Have a great stay in Long Beach!
