First time to LA I stayed here. So far from everywhere we wanted to be. Rooms not the best and there was a random hole in our bathroom wall 🙄 on the plus side though the waffles for breakfast were really good and freshly made as you waited 👍🏻 for slightly more money you could get somewhere better

Stayed in this hotel for 2 days, heard rumors about the hotel prior to our stay but it is actually not bad at all. Not a fancy hotel, but it is OK for a night or two. Room was spotlessly clean. Standard breakfast of waffles, cereals and coffee/tea was served every morning. Cons, homeless around the area. Felt not too...

My nephew, that is 17, reserved this hotel online in which when you reserve this hotel online you have to be at least 18 yrs old and it was obviously our mistake. So when we got to the hotel we had to wait about 40 min to check-in and right when we checked-in my nephew showed his source of identification...

I wish I could give 0 star. This hostel is terrible. I stayed in a private bedroom with shared bathroom for 2 nights. The room was tiny, yet still ok for me. The breakfast was literally not a breakfast. Don't expect too much when they mention free breakfast, you'll get only cheap orange juice and piece of bread. The biggest...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.

Elisa Lam was found in their water tank after hundreds of guests bathed, drank, and brushed their teeth with the water her dead body had been in. Apparently, when she was sent to the morgue, all they could find as her cause of death was "mysterious drowning", so no further investigation happened. But I agree with you, one of the hotel staff either had to have let her up there, or taken her up there.

There was also a dead woman stuffed into a mattress, 2 serial killers that lived there, suicide jumpers, a woman found dead in her room after being stabbed, rapped, and strangled all in just this one hotel. I would suggest that no one ever stay there.

I realize I am late answering but for future travelers who want to know - there is NO 13th floor. They skipped that number. Doesnt mean the floor doesnt exist though - its simply the 14th floor.

Extra bonus: Richard Ramirez, the Night Stalker, stayed on the 14th floor during the 80s when he was killing 14 people. Find that room, you will forget about wanting to stay on a floor simply numbered 13.

The victim of the Black Dahlia murders stayed here for a while way back in the 40s. There was a copycat serial killer who stayed here after Ramirez as well. And lots of people commit suicide at the hotel, or fall from the windows, so I am sure you have plenty of options for creepy. Im sure you've also heard her of the death of poor Elisa Lam as well here. There have been other unexplained deaths and murders over the years there, and locals call the place The Suicide, for a reason.

Of course, being an old building in a busy and seedy part of town (its been gentrifying in recent years and its half-Skid Row, half-trendy these days), its naturally going to have some very interesting and bizarre stories. Keep in mind that the hotel isn't just a budget option for tourists, its also a hostel, and more like an "extended stay hotel" - so it has some residents that stay for a long time. Maybe, if you are seeking something scary, you can stay here and meet a few residents who have stayed longer than their checkout time.

I know there's been at least one more suicide since it changed it's name. A guy in his 20's jumped from one of the upper floor windows in 2015. Obviously it's known for its many suicides. Not sure if there's been other incidents, but probably.
