I have lived in Venice many years and have stayed here many times. Anniversaries, and family travels, this is the place I recommend when friends and family come to LA. The house is out of a storybook, the staff is so accomidating, and you're near some of the best spots to eat in LA. Right there is the famous Venice...

For us the perfect place to stay -- near the beach, everything walking distance, near yoga, near great coffee and restaurants, homey not hotelly feel, lovely people who were always helpful with tips and anything we needed, reasonable rates, loved the history.

Enjoyed the feel and the people, sharing of bathrooms, great breakfast. Parking was tight, but manageable. Security was good. Homey atmosphere, both indoors and out. Fellow visitors were friendly and talkative, mostly foreign.

Amazing heritage house. Feels so homely. Nice homemade breakfast. Beds are comfortable. Great location. Walking distance to corner store, lots of restaurants and 50m to venice beach. Also venice canals are just behind.

Excellent location, comfortable rooms, great staff...would stay again for sure. We were there for only two nights for a quick visit to Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier...we could not be happier with the location. The price was in-line with the comparably located hotels...if not lower.

This house is on the national registry for a reason. It's beautiful. And it's a block from the beach. There are wonderful places to sit on the porch. But I am allergic to mold, so I was able to stay only because the moldy smell was much less in our room. If it would have been a two night stay...

We usually stay in a nearby hotel, but I thought I would "treat" myself and my wife to this charming house/B&B. I booked one of the suites (Pier Suite) and thought we would love it based on reading reviews and the web-site. OK, now for reality. The first thing you notice upon entering is the smell! Musty, old, dank, come...

At check in, the lady who let us in was not welcoming or friendly at all. Something I expect from a locally owned bed and breakfast. Room was average, below average for price! Very expensive for what it is plus more for parking. Breakfast was also average. With the pricing I would expect more for both the room and breakfast....

Lovely house & grounds, nice spacious rooms, friendly staff, tasty simple breakfast. The doors are difficult to lock and the showers are a bit naff, but other than that the place is great. Excellent location too. Perfect for a relaxing stop over.

Staying in Venice

Neighbourhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
