I just spent 4 nights at this hotel. I had read the reviews and knew several guests were commenting that the hotel needed an update. Yes the chair in my room was showing wear but the things that matter in a hotel were all there....More
The place is very nice and clean. The views from the 21st floor were very nice of downtown and the mountains. There is a lovely Japanese garden on the second floor.
The gym facility was pretty decent so that I could get some cardio in...More
I have stayed at many Doubletree Hotels and many hotels, period. This by far has been the best DoubleTree and maybe Hotel I've ever stayed at. The staff here has been terrific from Saul and Stephanie in the restaurant to the front desk staff and...More
Not by first choice but close to where our conference was - Front desk staff were ok - the other staff were wonderful.

Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants
in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.

It's not at all close to a beach. You'd have to get on a freeway and head toward the coast, about 30-45 mins depending on traffic. We stayed here last time because we wanted to go to the museums nearby. Other than the museums and Grand Central Market, there isn't really much to do that you can walk to, everything you'll need a car to get to.
