I attended a wedding at this beautiful venue. The huge oak trees had many lights in them. There was a waterfall behind the wedding party. The food was wonderful and there was a great variety. It was simply but tastefully decorated.

I found Calamigos Guest Ranch and Beach Club to be an exciting stay. One that hit the top of my list for all types of visits! The concept is very well put together concerning the establishment. Considering you're only 7-8 miles away from PCH in Malibu in a friendly, wooded area where it's tranquil. I liked the idea of being centralized between our rooms, the pool, and the restaurants. Parking was not an issue as they will valet park your vehicle. The distances between everything were well thought out due to the lack of time needed to eat or swim—so many options concerning food and swimming pools. The food was excellent and well prepared. The trails on the 250-acre ranch were well identified and well kept. The outdoors on this ranch allowed me to have many different options. The views were breathtaking and relaxing. I found the staff outstanding, friendly, and knowledgeable—a testament to the establishment's leadership. I have traveled to many different parts of the world and seen many different types of hotels, etc. Calamigos Guest Ranch and Beach Club is truly the epitome of all stays! We will be back!

This place is magical. The grounds of both the ranch and beach club are perfect and take full advantage of the beautiful setting. The food was delicious, the rooms are modern and big, the people are helpful and kind, and the atmosphere lets you fully relax. My family (4 kids) played pickle ball, swam in the pools, enjoyed the beach and ate delicious food. Jeri was my personal favourite as she was professional, kind and always made sure we all had what we needed. We will be back!

A beautiful tranquil surrounding. From the valet to the front desk help, to the bell service to the restaurant they are all so welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are well appointed with attention to detail. My only retreat is that I wasn’t able to stay longer

We stayed here because people we knew had great things to say about it. Sadly that was not our experience. We were in the middle of some renovating, and thought a relaxing few nights away would be good for us. Calamigos managed to be more stressful than the actual construction process. On check in we agreed on a price for our 3 night stay. The next morning I realized I had been charged almost double that. After 4 hours of trying to speak to a manager and get to the bottom of the whole situation I found myself with no answers and with the staff arguing with me about the prices their colleague gave me the night before. As I was not on vacation, but still working and managing construction at my house I had to leave to get in with my life, and didn’t have time to spend the entire day discussing their bate and switch tactics. To their credit the manager comped us the first night and refunded us everything else for the inconvenience. Unfortunately the experience was completely ruined for my partner and I. I would also add the overall look of the hotel is impressive, however on closer inspection, door handles are crooked, furniture is cheap, and it really feels like corners have been cut. They offer a house car to shuttle you back and forth to your room. Our first valet was super rude and didn’t give a good impression, the second valet tried much harder. The rooms actually feel kind of dirty, there is carpet which sucks, and actually feels pretty grimy. Overall it’s a shame, I think the property has a lot of potential. We loved the vegan cafe. The management really needs to do more work on consistency with staff, honoring rates agreed upon, and refining some of the finer details that take a resort from being ok, to being special. This place fails where it really matters

My partner and I were excited to stay here to get some and quiet during a stressful renovation at our house. We had heard great things from people about this place, the location and setting was amazing. We had to wait in the lobby for about an hour while the host arranged a room for us and gave us a price. The snooty valet with very bad vibes showed us to our Estate Suite, at first we were delighted at the size of the room, but upon further inspection the carpet was dirty, there weren’t enough towels, handles on doors were crooked and broken etc. We are paying above $1.1K per night rate for this room. We brushed it off and had a good nights sleep. The next morning I checked my banking and I see that I’ve been charged triple the amount that I was quoted! I see in many other reviews here that it’s a common tactic of theirs to bait and switch customers. I call the front desk and ask to speak to the ranch manager to report this mistake, and I get involved in a stressful four hour back and forth game between the manager and his booking team and whoever else needed to be involved. They were so rude and dismissive, they lack any idea of customer service and have a very snooty, holier than thought, attitude towards their guests. Have a problem being charged triple what you were quoted, avoid this place like the plague. It is enchanting and beautiful but it’s rotten to the core!

Was surprised with a trip to Calamigos as a gift from my SO. Upon arriving the valets were very responsive to our request to charge our EV. They also didn’t hover over us when we said we didn’t need help with our bags. Check in was smooth and Emmanuel kindly walked us to our bungalow. The private walled outdoor space was nice. The bedroom was on the small side. I didn’t care for the plywood aesthetic of the furnishings but it’s what the kids are into these days. The bathroom was ample but the very loud exhaust fan was on the same circuit as the lights. No way to enjoy the bathroom without the fan running since there is no window. A complimentary round of snacks in the room was unexpected except they were all junk food. Would have been nice to see fruit and/or healthy snacks. The mini split HVAC system next to the bed loudly buzzed, forcing the use of ear plugs. These are issues I would not expect to encounter with lodging at this price point. Enjoyed the single complimentary cocktail offered at happy hour. Some days they’re bigger than others since they run low on glassware. Pool was a nice temperature for winter swimming. Gym was well equipped but the personal trainer working with another guest was a nonstop chatterbox. Finally the grounds were fun to explore. It seems they could have a few dozen weddings/receptions in flight at any time, though none during our stay. We were challenged by a staff member since we don’t resemble their Millennial/Gen Y customer base. Explained that we were staying at the property and that was enough. The short hiking trails that start behind the Ferris wheel were scenic. At the highest point they offer ocean views. They also provided a bird’s eye view into the resort’s junkyard, complete with a surplus city bus. Also, if you open a closed glass door at the bar, be sure it closes behind you. Too many guests were too entitled to notice. Don’t be one of them.
