We stayed 2 nights to see Yosemite and thoroughly enjoyed staying at Mary Ellen's home, it's beautiful and comfortable and you are surrounded by trees and gardens, it's truly a retreat. Her breakfasts were great, bacon, toast, frittata, fruit and juice. Her cookies are delicious and seem to be available all the time. She even offered cheese, crackers and wine...

Arriving on an auspicious evening (there was a power cut throughout Mariposa), we were pleasantly greeted by our hostess by candlelight and welcomed into her lovely home. There was a wood burner in the lounge and each evening we were invited to help ourselves to a glass of wine and a slice of home baked cake or cookie. The bedroom...

Me and my girlfriend decided to go to Yosemite at the last minute for the weekend. After we saw that all the hotels nearby were either fully booked or were filthy, we decided to try a B&B for the first time. We arrived very late only to see that our hostess, Mary Ellen (more on her later) waited for us...

My boyfriend and I planned this last minute trip to Yosemite so we couldn't find any accommodation in the park. However, I think it was a good thing because it made us discover Poppy Hill. It was not my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and I usually prefer to stay at the hotel. Nonetheless, this B&B is...

We spent a very relaxing and comfortable one week in Poppy hill B&B. We stayed in the Iris room which was pretty comfortable. The bathroom could have been a little bigger but nevertheless it was clean and all the necessities like fresh towels, were nicely taken care of. Mary Ellen's warm hospitality adds to the comfort of staying in the...

Mary Ellen (and Darlene and Dan) are running a very pleasant bed and breakfast. There is much experience and it shows. All the little details are covered. The rooms are nice, quiet, well appointed, and the beds fresh and comfortable. The bath was complete with robes and very functional and comfortable too. There are reference materials for Yosemite available as...

My husband and I spent one night at Poppy Hill to break up the long drive from the Bay Area to Yosemite. We were so glad we did! Mary Ellen has created such a beautiful, restful, and welcoming space. Poppy Hill is literally set atop a small hill with lovely views of the surrounding countryside and gardens. The rooms are...

This B&B is what I call The Real America,Mary Ellen who owns this house is a most welcoming hostess and nothing is too much trouble. There are only 4 guest rooms all individual, quaintly decorated ,full of antique furniture. Well stocked fridge on the landing for guests to use. Breakfast is cooked by Mary Ellen each morning consisting of such...
