We stayed at this hotel with two other couples, booking a total of 3 rooms, for a weekend getaway. The check-in process was very easy. The staff at the front desk were friendly. The room was comfortable, spacious, and clean. The bed was decently comfortable. The total cost of $350 a night can feel pricy for what you get in terms of the common spaces, décor, and overall amenities, but it's definitely on the affordable end for the area. There is not much to offer in terms of a n aesthetically pleasing common space, garden area, or anything except your bedroom and the spartan lobby / dining areas. But this is a comfortable, moderate place to stay. I would usually give this a 4-5 star rating, but what soured my experience a bit was that I had inadvertently left a brand-new dress on the towel hook in the restroom after dinner on the first night of our stay. I had worn it to dinner and left it hanging. It was behind the bathroom door area, so I missed it when packing to leave the hotel. I remembered after I had checked-out and drove home a few hours later. I double-checked my weekend bag and unpacked when I got home (I'm a light packer to begin with), so there wasn't much to look through or any other opportunities to misplace the dress between the hotel and home. I immediately called the hotel to report this, to arrange for it's return and to offer to pay for any fees to mail it, and the staff said that nothing was reported found in the room. I asked to submit a request for follow-up, and they indicated they would submit a form on my behalf to the lost and found, but that they could do nothing until the next morning. I later sent an email to document my inquiry because they did not have a case receipt or inquiry number for me to track my request. I received a call today, three days since our stay, indicating that nothing was found in the room (well, yes, now that we're several days out and I'm sure someone else has stayed there). The only explanation I have is that the housekeeping staff or other members pocketed / stole the dress. And for the hotel to simply say nothing was found (i.e. no one reported stealing the dress), when they could track who was assigned to clean the room that day and make further inquiries is dissatisfying. …
The hotel allowed for an early check in, and provided a nice surprise bottle of wine for my birthday. The only problem during the stay was that the shower never seemed to get hot. The hotel grounds and room are lovely. Would highly recommend for proximity to wharf, cannery row and Monterey sites.
We coming stay here every year. We always have a great time when we stay here. The rooms are great and the staff offers excellent service. We continue to come back to this location. Every time we stay here has been a great experience.
I selected Hotel Abrego based on price and location for a weekend trip with family to the aquarium and Whalefest. It is within walking distance of the PLAZA AND Old Fisherman’s Wharf. And, walking distance to numerous restaurants. Short drive to parking lot Cannery Row #7.
Quiet, comfortable, and cozy—perfect reverie! Loved the fireplace, kept us toasty and warm. Well located and great value. Was unable to join breakfast as slept till 9–that NEVER happens! Would definitely stay here again.
Excellent! Great and friendly staff, perfect location that is quiet and has easy access to both Monterey and Carmel. The breakfast buffet is phenomenal, had plenty of options and great quality of food as well!
We had never stayed at the Hotel Abrego before and we absolutely loved it! It was in a great location and we walked all over town. I was especially excited about the Trader Joe’s within a five minute walk. The room was spacious and comfortable. We selected a room with a fireplace which was nice. It also had a mini-refrigerator and the staff put a microwave in the room for us. The $20/day resort fee includes parking, Wifi, a delicious hot breakfast buffet, a heated pool, hot tub, and a complimentary glass of wine at happy hour. The staff were all friendly, helpful, and professional. I can’t wait to stay here again.
This hotel is a gem. The location and room quality are excellent. The breakfast has a wide selection of hot and cold items. The staff were all lovely to us. I appreciated the complimentary wine at happy hour. There was a major power outage during our stay and the staff managed to pull together breakfast which was such a wonderful surprise. They go above and beyond here.
We have stayed here 5 times and they never surprise us with anything bad! Always clean and staff. Are awesome! Close to everything and within walking distance to all the sites and wonderful restaurants! Definitely we will stay again
Wonderful location close to everything. Close proximity to Cannery Row, Fisherman’s Wharf, restaurants, shopping, and abundance of wonderful golf courses. The pictures are exactly what the property looks like inside and out. I received a free upgrade for my 4 say stay. Only issue at all, very very minor, was the controller for the fireplace was difficult to get to work. I believe the batteries were dying. Again minor and had no impact on my trip or review.
