The hotel is definitely retro which is appealing to my family. The rooms have been updated and are beautiful. However, throughout the night we found dead silverfish or something similar. The bathroom floor had toothpaste on it, as well as long black hairs. I have long bleached blonde hair and my husband has short brown hair and our two year old daughter has short, brown hair as well. The employees are amazing, everything else is fantastic other than the cleanliness and pest problem. We love a retro hotel and this would be amazing. They just need to address the peat problem and make sure they clean the bathroom floors. Who knows what else they don’t actually clean and just do a visual checklist of. Yuck.
If your looking for a nice, affordable weekend getaway look no further! This isn’t a 5 diamond hotel (because those don’t exist in Monterey) but it isnt alll bad either. Front desk staff is amazing and the GM went above and beyond to make sure our stay was excellent. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here.
Great place to stay Great place to stay with reasonable rates when visiting Monterey area. The morning breakfast is a bagged even, but for the price it's hard to beat. Motel is close to the heart of Monterey so pretty much everything is close buy and accessible. We've stayed at this motel a few times now, at this last visit it was very noticeable that a lot of improvements have been made.
Very good hotel, nice service. It is situated not far from the main touristic attraction. Our room was spacious with refrigerator and microwave. The only problem is once or twice a day sound of airplane..
Easy check-in and check-out. Very friendly and accomodating. Rooms were clean. I couldn't seem to log into the wi-fi, but I didn't follow up and ask for help so putting that on me. Great location for Monterey Fairground events. Definitely going back!
My husband and I had a wonderful Stay ! Room was very clean and comfortable. We brought our 2 dogs the hotel is very dog friendly.. We had a wonderful balcony to sit on. Pool area was clean ...pool was heated. Lots of restaurants and stores with in walking distance. But the best part of our stay was the FABULOUS SERVICE at the front desk..Erika the manger went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. I can not wait to stay there again.
This place doesn't have air conditioning. The bathrooms have mold and the entire facility is unkept. The beacon of light to this place is the front desk. The people that work the front desk were friendly and efficient. Housekeeping leaves A LOT TO BE DESIRED
The heated pool is ice cold, the restaurant was closed and no one let us know in advance, the continental breakfast has been replaced with a brown paper sack with a granola bar a tiny apple and orange juice and a tiny water all at room temperature, the rooms are extremely old and dated and the pet safe rooms are not pet safe. Also when we booked through TripAdvisor it told us the price for the pet safe room but when we got there we ended up having to pay an additional $30. The sink stopper broke and our sink wouldn't drain, there were raccoons at night between us and our room and we had to wait for them to vacate, the location is great if you're going to the fairgrounds but the adult film store down the street is kind of a off-putting site. Also if the restaurant in the hotel is randomly closed like it was when we were there you're kind of up a creek without having to drive because the neighborhood's a bit shady.…
There are a lot of small things that are unpleasant about this hotel that I would overlook if at least i could sleep comfortably. Unfortunately the rooms have terrible soundproofing which is a huge issue being under the fight path. I don't mean that its near the airport, it is right under the fight path and incredibly loud. Fortunately this only happens from about 6am to about 10pm. Secondly the beds are super uncomfortable and the pillows untrustworthy being that they are only in covers and no actual zippered case - yuck. Plus, they assigned pet friendly rooms to rooms with connecting doors which caused Even more noise making my pet agitated. Other small issues was icky bathroom, dirty floor, some light not working, no good dog potty area, and paper bag breakfast with tiny water and tiny granola bar. There are signs about "hiring crises" explaining lack of services. Personally i find that disingenuous as it just means management just won't pay staff enough. Especially on fully booked weekends when rooms are 200+ a night. "People just don't want to work" Please, give me a break. The hotel has been in a state of decay for decades. I prefer not to have housekeeping in my room anyways so really don't care if staffing is "reduced" but this is more like "barely" staffed. Positives was a large mini fridge/freezer combo and lots of power outlets.…
Got the job done but underwhelming for the price. Under airport flight path, loud low flying plans. Pool water did not seem chlorinated enough for "clean" water, had hose in it filling it up with guests in it. No advertised breakfast, just a bag with juice, bar and piece of fruit. Room was just OK, bathroom kinda dingy. Not a nice location, that said it was close and easy enough to drive where we wanted to go in Monterey pretty quickly.
