I traveled for work purposes to attend a court hearing in the morning. A horrible night’s sleep coupled with an ice cold shower and no power made this stay miserable. Not only that, there was old food in the microwave from the previous guest.
Staff very responsive to requests. Great experience. Walking distance to great restaurants. Everything you need is within walking distance. Easy check in and checkout thru app and email. Valet parking is the best
It was lovely property.nice and clean . Lovely hospitality. They help me and my husband . They went out of their way to help my husband that is disabled . The only thing is the hotel doesn’t have heater in the room we got . They did give us floor heater that was nice .
This is one of several stays over the years. Each visit has gotten better. The upgrade of the lobby and rooms makes it a convenient and charming stop in Monterey. Parking at the city lot was inexpensive and safe place to leave your vehicle. I found the staff to be very responsive and friendly. My room was very clean and comfortable with high quality linens and good insulation. I rarely heard anyone else. The hotel is convenient walking distance to the historic plaza and Fishermans Wharf. If you like to walk it is possible to walk to the aquarium as well. I will use this as my base on future trips.
Although the hallways were attractively furnished, they (and the rugs) were dirty and my room was sparsely furnished and the pillows were so hard! The worst part was I could hear EVERYTHING the people on the floor above me were doing and saying--sooo gross!
Jamie at the front desk is AMAZING. Her customer service skills are outstanding and she is very professional. The rooms in both the historic section and the deluxe section are absolutely stunning. This is a very clean and very well maintained hotel in the heart of Monterey. The complimentary coffee and grab-and-go breakfast each morning is very delicious. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a top notch hotel to stay at while visiting Monterey.
I like the location of this historic hotel. It's not fancy, but the beds are really comfortable and it is so close to trails, good food, drinks, shopping-- you can't beat the location. Parking was very nearby and easy to do-- although you do have to pay daily and its best to use the machine in the lot vs the app--- cheaper and you can pay once for all day $8 for the day. If late night or early morning noise is super bothersome to you, this is not your place-- the street is busy and I'd say just one night I heard some loud people out the open window and the morning has early morning trash and delivery trucks-- I was up, so it really did not bother me and I like the fresh air from an open window. Easy walk to attractions and just a short block to convention center. This location is awesome. …
I loved my stay at the Monterey Hotel. Was attending a conference at the Marriott and Monterey Conference Center and wanted an affordable, out of the hubbub of the Conference. The Monterey Hotel fit my preferences perfectly. I requested a quiet room as I was going to have a lot going on at the conference and didn’t want to lose any sleep with noisy neighbors. The staff booked me into room 424, it was perfect. I also.really appreciate the ability to open the windows and enjoy fresh air. Highly recommend.
I've seen reviews that say the rooms could be updated, but they were very adorable in their antique style. A bit small, but with the wharf and all of Monterey nearby, there was not much need to be in our room. Staff was super friendly and helpful.
We were a group of 4 women. Very good location to cannery row. We loved the charm of this hotel and the front desk and valet were so nice. The coffee service was delicious! Boyd's coffee was very good. We would definitely come back.
