I had to step over several cigarette butts on and around the mat to even enter my room. I was then immediately met with a strong odor from heavy cleaning solution. It was very hard to stay in that smell. The shower was leaking in a steady stream that never stopped. The furniture looked like it had been kicked in by someone. I just don’t think this place cares about giving its customers a remotely acceptable experience.
This is a great place to stay in Monterey when you wanna get away to hang out with friends . The a good restaurant across the with a bar . Plus there's a bowling alley with a cool bar in it too. The price was reasonable for sat night , beds are comfy and room cleaned well . No doubt I'll be staying here again
Very good motel to stay close to all the action in monterey. Staff will help with everything they can . Price is reasonable. Room are well equipped and very clean. I'll stay here again for sure. Really close to the fairgrounds . Perfect when events are there
Stayed here over the weekend while visiting Monterey and was pleasantly surprised by the value for the location. Just a quick drive from all the main tourist attractions and front desk staff were friendly. Room was minimal but sufficient for a decent sleep. I’d return next time I’m in the area.
I called in 4 hours before our check in to ask for an early check in and was told that our room was no longer available. When I asked for a voucher for another hotel, she told me that because she was notifying me “3 hours before check in” (only because I had called) , she was not obligated to do anything but give us a refund. We were already on the way to Monterey and had to pay a lot more for a different same day motel. Absolutely terrible. Do not go here. There are much better motels in the area. I’d give it 0 stars if I could.
You literally cannot get away from it. In the hallways, up the stairs, outside every room. You have a balcony you cannot people watch from. The smoke fills your room from your heating/AC unit. The worst of it is, they make the ones of us that are not doing these illegal deads the bad guys. We are not allowed to complain and they are allowed to kill us slowly with cigarette smoke and marijuana. Oh and don't say anything to the front desk, these people, homeless most of them and getting the homeless hotel funding are their priority. So recap, do not come if you do not smoke or do marijuana CONSTANTLY. Throw your cigarette butts everywhere. Want a nice non-smoking place to do laundry, get ice, park your car, walk from your car to your room without a cloud of smoke from cigarettes and marijuana. Then the lose dogs come up. Do not come if you want to sleep during the night in a fresh air capacity. Because these rooms fill with the cigarette smoke and marijuana, while they party and complain all night long. Life is so, so hard for these people. Yea, well, I am one of them and I am still pulling up my big girl panties and forging ahead and being respectful to all the other guests at the hotel that do not smoke under our rooms like they are entitled. Clue: California law is that you are illegal if smoking ANYTHING in public. I will never stay here again. Going back to living in my car. THAT is safe. Sad hugh.…
The room was clean if rather pricey ,but pricey is normal for summer in Monterey. It is conveniently located next to a CVS pharmacy. The area is rather sketchy, as there is an adult bookstore a few doors away, and some unstable people wandering around. In fact, I was afraid to use the microwave after dark because it meant walking across a parking lot to the laundry. There are no microwaves or coffee makers in rooms, so using the common microwave is the only way to heat water. We stayed 3 nights and the interior of the microwave had the same burned food the entire time. It was never cleaned.
I stayed at this motel on a Friday and Saturday night and the bathroom toilet didn’t work for 2 nights. Repairman said it was fine! I complained to manager Maria and when I left I told her it STILL did NOT flush! After I left she called me and apologized. She said she was sending me a one night free stay in any Motel 6, to use ANY day of the week. I booked another stay a few weeks later and when I handed her the gift certificate (that she signed) she informed me that I could not use it because the “computer” wasn’t accepting it! WHAT TOTAL BS this was! She is a liar and she can NOT be trusted! Besides...the walls are very thin and you can hear everything. The beds are small and only like 18” between beds. No blow dryers, no shampoo, no nothing extra but a cheap bar of soap! I HIGHLY suggest a hotel were honest people work! …
I always stay in Motel 6, because I have 2 larger dogs(44 lbs and 90 lbs) but they are extremely well behaved. I have stayed at multiple locations throughout southern ca. After I paid, the older hispanic woman working there asked me what “brand” my dogs were. I was confused by the term brand. My dogs are part pitbull, but mutts overall. Then she told me there are no big dogs allowed. I traveled 800+ miles and booked my room stating I had 2 dogs. The size or breed of my dogs have NEVER come into question before. I explained this and then she said it was because it was a small property. Once she saw me getting upset, she said nevermind. I saw big dogs all over the motel. I felt unwelcomed and discriminated against. I will not be back to this one.
This is a five star Motel 6 compared to other Motel 6s. Got a three not because it was bad but because it is a Motel 6. Would I stay there again absolutely yes. It is what it is. Smallish room, small and rough towels but like it said what do you expect? So if you’re looking for a budget hotel this is the place. Plus right next to fairgrounds, and airport but the planes weren’t a bother. Friendly staff and there is a Denny’s across the street.
