This is one of the old, single story motels that is being refreshed. Our room had been refreshed and we had a nice stay, possibly because the motel was only about 1/3rd full. We requested a room away from the street and we were given one about half way back, which was far enough so that road noise wasn't an issue, but we may have had the fan on all night, which drowns out most noise. The bed was comfortable and we were able to park right outside our room, which is always convenient. They are currently working on refreshing all the rooms, so I suppose if you were there in the day time and near where the work is going on, it could be an issue, but otherwise you should be fine. There is one thing unusual about this hotel that I didn't notice until I just looked at the bill for the room. The nightly rate showed up very low when looking at the hotel online ($77.25 during the week in Feb) but out bill then adds a daily $3. water charge and a $12.00 "service charge" and I"m not sure what those were for, especially since we did not have any kind of servicing done to our room during our 3 day stay. So just be aware of this when looking at their room rates. I never see that on other hotels and so it makes this hotel seem way less expensive than others, when it really isn't. We would definetly stay here again and the same price point.…
If you are booking using referral sites with money back etc be aware this hotel will cancel your original payment and recharge it to avoid paying out any referral fees. When i questioned why i had been recharged the same amount colleague on the desk was quite rude and dismissive.
Not too many of these independent motels still exists. Very clean, we had the room at the end of the motel far away from the street, very quiet. The owners must be very cost conscious and also try to help environment- the roof is full of solar panels. GREAT
Very clean accommodations and super quiet. We were in bed early every evening with young kids and never heard cars or doors opening and closing. The suite was well stocked and saved us money since we could make breakfast and pack lunch for the day. The hotel rooms were in great condition.
I was visiting my kid at UC Monterey and needed a reasonably priced place to stay. This place was friendly and clean. The front desk was very friendly! Definitely a motor lodge feel. The room I stayed in was just redone. Free Wi-Fi. I did not use anything else except for the room as I was out and about. I would definitely stay there again.
This is our second time staying at Lone Oak Lodge, each time gets better. They have remodeled some rooms (if not most) and everything is quality product and work. Peaceful, it was just what we wanted for our getaway. Location is perfect for exploring all of Monterey area. Great value for the price.
This was our second stay at The Lone Oak Lodge in a year. First time for 3 nights and this time for 6 nights. It's a true "motor lodge" with lots of wide parking spaces right by your room. Very friendly and professional staff. They are currently halfway through the process of remodeling the rooms. We stayed in one of the older rooms which is perfectly pleasant and VERY clean. I could have chosen a remodeled room but I like the "mid century" look so I requested the same (older) room we stay last time. The hotel is in a very convenient location, just a few steps to public transportation and several restaurants. A huge Safeway supermarket, a CVS, and even more restaurants are all within a quarter mile. Because parking can be a bit of a hassle and expensive around Monterey's tourist areas, we left our car at the motel and took the "Jazz" bus. It's inexpensive, runs every 10 minutes, modern, clean, ADA accessible, and friendly drivers. If you are a scuba diver this is your place! They have 3 large rinse tubs for your gear. Outdoor shower and changing rooms to get the sand off yourself. Strong hooks right by your room to hang your wetsuit to dry. There's an outdoors fire pit / sitting area where you and your buddies can trade dive stories while your fresh catch cooks on the provided BBQs.…
It was a really good place to stay for the Monterey Jazz Festival. Large parking it’s a little more spread out than at the motels around here. A short walk to the fairgrounds. It was quiet after the last show. They’re currently in the middle of renovating. So we were in a room with a new bed and some new furniture. But there was an old chair and a small TV that the manager said was being replaced with a larger one soon. A little more expensive than the cheap motels, but it was nice that it was very clean. It’s not too far from downtown Monterey if that’s why you’re visiting. Four stars because it’s a good value, safe and clean.
We stayed there for a night during our trip to San Francisco. Room was clean, bed comfortable, bathroom ok. Friendly staff. Coffee machine in the room which allows to make a tee, if you know how. Safe parking in front of the room. Good accommodation overall.
We showed up at 4pm to check in to our hotel but were told our room wasn’t ready due to recent renovations. At that time there was a “maid”, a guy wholooked to be a manager, and a worker who looked to be the one doing the renovations in our room. We left and went about our evening and returned at 12:15 am. When we returned, we found our door open, lights on, the “manager” outside our room in a chair on watch, and the maid and two crackheads in our room in our bed. The maid came out of the room claiming she was showing the other two individuals the newly remodeled room (at 12:15am in a booked room). When my husband became irritated, the manager guy and the guy doing the remodeling retreated to both rooms on each side of our room (yet we were told all other rooms were booked). The entire situation was odd and felt like something out of a horror movie. I called to speak to a manager but the maid answered the phone. I have been told i cannot get my money back and if we came back they wound call the cops because we were causing problems. This hotel is definitely not on the up and up and I would highly advise anyone to not book here.…
