After booking an ADA accessible room online, I specifically called the hotel to inquire about how ADA friendly the hotel was going to be for my 82 year old mother in-law. I was assured the room was accessible, elevator working and complimentary breakfast was in an area my MIL could get too. Upon arrival another customer was concerned the elevator was not functioning again and it needed attention. The first day, we had to request the elevator be reset 3 times, next day was 4 times and the last day there were no requests because the power was out. Breakfast was in a nicely decorated room directly off the Main Street but in my opinion was not ADA accessible, unless you could take your walker up a steep driveway meant for cars, down the sidewalk about 50 feet in a heavy rain, down a cement ramp which was wet and finally into a room with tile floors and no floor mats to dry your feet. This was disappointing as when I called, I was told breakfast area was ADA accessible! Bottom line, hotel may be in ADA compliance, but it is NOT ADA friendly. After speaking 4 times to management over a period of 9 days, they refunded my MIL $100 for her 3 night stay. My advice, avoid the headache of this hotel if ADA accessibility is important to you!…
The hotel is quaint if a little dated. The staff was excellent. If you have a courtyard room the fountain provides white noise which I found comforting but could be an issue for light sleepers. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. There is a parking fee added to the nightly charge.
The service from Murphy was excellent great person representing the hotel. The breakfast in the morning was good, and location is great. The hotel however is in desperate need of repairs, leaking ceilings, in the parking garage, outdated fixures, tired furnishings in the rooms.
Made last minute reservations here online about an hour prior to arriving. It was my first time staying here but the price was right and I thought I’d give it a shot based on the great reviews, great location and lovely pictures. I was truly very happy with our room! It was very spacious and almost like a small suite. The seating area had a sofa, two chairs and a sofa. The gas fireplace was so perfect and cozy on this chilly evening., We also took advantage of the outdoor seating area as well. Bathroom was spacious and very clean. The breakfast was decent as well. I loved that this hotel was walking distance of the wharf and downtown area. My only complaint was this: their checkout information online says checkout goes until 12:00. At 11:15 we received a call from a gentleman who i assume was the manager on-site to inquire why we weren’t checked out yet. My husband proceeded to tell him we checked their website which has the 12:00 pm checkout time. He proceeded to deny their website says that. My husband did not argue but told him we would be out in 15 minutes. When we went to check out, the manager again denied their website said this. My husband held up his phone showing their website info and kindly told the man he didn’t appreciate his rudeness and argumentativeness towards customers and that he should become knowledgeable about what they indicate on their website. Besides that unfortunate bad customer service, it was a lovely stay in a very nice room. …
Everything was great except elevator was out. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They' always accommodated our requests for the room we desire. This hotel is our go to in Monterey. It's a very convenient location to restaurants and other tourist attractions. We like exploring the "Old Monterey" area.
The Hotel was very nice, the rooms were very comfortable, and decorated nicely. Hotel Pacific was close to many restaurants, and areas of interest. Hotel Pacific was conveniently located. Hotel Pacific had nice curb appeal, and very pretty.
My husband and I recently enjoyed a great 3-night stay at the unique and special Hotel Pacific in Downtown Monterey. We have stayed at this hotel several times over the past 30 years and always found it to be a a favorite destination in a great location. It has many qualities that we look for in a smaller, more relaxing hotel. We were glad to return to Hotel Pacific and have an outstanding experience once again. First of all, the staff is friendly, responsive, knowledgeable and very helpful. The Junior Suite king bed room layout is exceptional for a smaller hotel like this. It is spacious with a dining area that was also perfect for working comfortably on a laptop, a delightful gas fireplace, a spacious living room sitting area and a very nice bedroom area. The kitchen was stocked with nice dishes and wine glasses with a refrigerator and microwave, allowing us to bring in some local cuisine to enjoy. We appreciated the hardwood floors and the attractive tile surround on the fireplace. The TV in the room conveniently rotates to face both the living room and the bedroom as needed. There was also a nice-sized patio area which we enjoyed as well. The underground parking is easy and we were able to park close to the elevator and our room. We loved the more than ample Continental Breakfast each morning with eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, a variety of breads and bagels and more, served in their three spacious meeting rooms near the lobby. There were many nice outdoor seating areas on the property as well as a steaming jacuzzi area. We loved the charming and attractive tile pathways throughout the hotel. The hotel is located near Old Fisherman’s Wharf for whale watching and fishing excursions, great restaurants and cute shops, walking distance on the Rec Trail to Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Lower Presidio Historic Park, a variety of historic Monterey State Historic Park buildings to tour and Downtown Monterey with its Golden State Theatre, restaurants and pubs and additional State Park gardens, adobes and other buildings to enjoy. Hotel Pacific also rents bicycles that make it even easier to explore the area, without moving your car! It is also only a 10-minute drive to Carmel by the Sea and Pacific Grove and their beautiful beaches, shops and restaurants. Over the years, we have recommended this hotel to our friends who have always enjoyed the experience! Check it out next time you are planning to stay on the Monterey Peninsula. …
Stayed 2 nights without cleaning during our stay - the room ok - however it was dirty and unclean - hair and dust in drawers and floor.. The hotel was “ tired” and not up to date .. Breakfast as a cheap cafeteria .. All too expensive for “ just a room “ Location fine - 10 minutes walk to centrum . Kirsten ( Denmark )
Terrible rain storms in California. Mud slides, closed roads. We even received AMBER alerts on our phones telling us not to drive and to avoid the coast. So unfortunately we changed plans last minute and had a cancel a stay of Hotel Pacific that we were really looking forward to. The hotel's response you ask? They won't refund the amount charged to our credit card. Shame on them. I am sure this is a great property but I will never stay here knowing their staff and leadership are heartless.
We have been here numerous times over the past two decades. This time was a bid disappointing. We arrived a bit early around 1 pm to see if our room was ready for check in. It wasn't. We were told to come back at 4. We came back at 4 and were told that the room would not be ready until 4:30. We returned around 4:45 and still, the room was not ready. We came back around 5:30 and we were finally given the keys to the room. We told the young woman at the desk that we were told the room would be ready by 4:30, and we had to wait until 5:30 to get our room.... her response was "It's ok".... not the best response We had 2 large suitcases and needed to go from the garage to the 4th floor. The elevator was not working. We walked up to the 2nd floor and a young male worker saw us. We saw the door to the elevator was open. We asked if we went in if we would get stuck, and he straight up reply was "Yep...". He then stated he would go fix it after he dropped off the towels he was taking to a room. We continued with our heavy suitcases to the 4th floor, and that same young man was just leaving our room---- he dropped off the towels in our room. He never asked if we needed help with our luggage. Once we got settled, the room was great. We had 2 beds, a sofa, a table with chairs, a balcony, and a bathroom with a shower AND a tub, which is great for small children. The beds were very comfortable, but the pillows left a lot to be desired. There is a free continental breakfast, but it is located in the Meeting Room area of the hotel -- not very easy to get to and it woul be hard for a disabled person to enjoy, since there is no ramp. The hotel is in a great location, a short walk to downtown Monterey and FIsherman's Wharf and about 1.5 miles to the Aquarium.…
