We had a fantastic stay at the Victorian Inn! We felt welcomed and pampered from check-in, to the wine hour, sparkling water and chocolates in the room, ending with a delicious hot breakfast of omelets and sausages. The room was well-insulated so we weren't bothered by outside noises, comfortable bed and pillows, great water pressure in the shower. This was our dog's first hotel visit and she was impressed with her own personal water bowl and anytime dog biscuits in the lobby! Covered underground parking and only a few blocks from Cannery Row made it a perfect visit to Monterey.
We have had several delightful stays here, most recently in September 2022. Rooms have balconies and fireplaces, parking is underneath the hotel, wine and cheese every day at 5 PM, good breakfast, and it's walking distance to Cannery Row and the Aquarium. What more could you ask for?
Check in was a breeze, and the charm inside the Inn just captivated my romantic side. Parking was a bit of a struggle to find, until we realized it was underground parking. But the clerk at check-in let us park outside the main building for unloading, and there was no rush to move our car. We had our 2 dogs with us, and by the time we got back to the lobby, A WELCOME sign had been put up greeting Tammy & Belle Starr! And a bowl of water and a bed - it was just the magic touch i have never seen before! The room was quiet with a fireplace, clean, warm, and the bed was amazing comfort! This is a definite must stay. But be sure to get for the amazing breakfast before IT ENDS.... food went quick. Just a note for dog lovers - there is nothing really around the property to walk your dog for a night relief. I found an empty lot, but it was really muddy, and dark. Take a pickup bag for when your dog goes on the sidewalk.…
Victorian Inn is the place to stop and stay with your loved ones. Came from Sacramento for three day weekend and enjoyed it. Location is perfect to walk around the Cannery Row and nearby shops and attractions . But the most valuable things in this stylish inn is the environment and real continental, I would say presidential breakfast. We did not imagine, but enjoy all varieties of food on breakfast. Fresh, hot and appealing. We definitely plan to come back and continue to visit this hotel. Room was very roomy and well equipped with everything you wish. Fireplace in the room what makes it cozy and comfortable. Bed is outstanding. We stayed at second floor and in a good weather could see an ocean(just two blocks away) Front desk make everything possible to serve you kindly. And big plus, it is pets friendly. You can bring your 4-legged friends with you and they will treated with respect.…
(Stayed here three nights) Not sure where the "wonderful" reviews are coming from... First and foremost, there is nothing remotely "Victorian" about this hotel, except maybe the main building housing the lobby. There is very little in the way of staff and what there is runs the gamut from friendly and helpful to nonchalant and annoyed at being bothered. The "premier room" offered a clogged shower drain and a bed with a mattress that was wayyy past it's sell-buy date- there was a fairly large dip on each side where people have been sleeping over the years. I had to ask the woman at the reception desk twice to have someone unclog the drain. There was no apology for my inconvenience. The fireplace was questionable and the walls were so thin that we were awakened in the middle of the night two nights in a row by the people nextdoor having a conversation and watching tv. Not staying here again. …
I can't say enough about the Victorian Inn. My daughter and I went there with our fur babies for a long Thanksgiving weekend. The place and our room was beautiful! We were all greated with welcoming gifts, including for our fur babies. The daily breakfast and wine and cheese in the evening that were included were wonderful. Lots of food to pick from. We were walking distance to everything. You couldn's ask more from the staff. We plan to stay there the next time we get away to Monterey.
This is a nice hotel. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and comfy. Our dog was welcomed. A good nights sleep as it is very quiet. Our room had a fireplace which was nice as it was chilly in November. This was our second stay and we would go back. Reasonably priced for the quality
Good hotel in a great location only a few blocks from Cannery Row. While the picture shows a Victorian era building that is the just the main building where you check in. The vast majority of the property is just a standard cookie-cutter hotel, although the rooms are very nice and decorated well. Overall, I would have given this place a 4.5 to 5 star rating, if not for a few things. First, it does seem that they give preferential rooms to people that reserve through their website as opposed to a third-party site. So make sure you ask what the availability is before getting your key if you have a reservation of this type. The major problem we had was that the parking garage has a very sharp ramp angle and our sedan bottomed out while leaving. Fortunately, we didn't have any damage, but anyone with a low-profile car should be warned. When I mentioned this to the front desk, the only comment was a disinterested, "Yeah, you have to exit the garage at an angle". There should be a sign in that regard or, if there is one, it should be posted better. Pros: - Dog friendly - Very nice rooms - Good breakfast in morning, and a nice touch with an evening happy hour - Very friendly staff for the most part Cons: - May give better rooms to people that reserve through their website as opposed to third-party reservations (street-facing vs. not street-facing) - Tour busses use this hotel, so there may be crowds at times - A bit pricey, but that seems to be the going rate in the area - There is road noise if you are facing the street, although the sliding doors do a good job of blocking that.…
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Parking was easy underneath the hotel. Check-in was easy. Slight mix up with multiple bookings, but there were zero issues taking care of it. We had a King family suite (2 room suite - king bed and bathroom in 2nd room, huge living room with sleeper sofa in first room with fireplaces in both rooms) and a regular king room. Both were spacious and clean. updated bathrooms. Rooms were more on the "Victorian" side, hence the name of the hotel, but not ancient looking. They were not worn out. If you book a hotel with the name 'Victorian Inn" do not expect a brand new modern hotel. It was more than clean and comfortable. The included continental breakfast was awesome! Your typical cereal/bagel/yogurt stuff, but there were also locally made ham and cheese croissants and veggie croissants one morning with homemade pastries, and the 2nd morning had veggie omelets with sausage patties. Very good and very filling. Not your typical powdered egg stuff. one night was a little noisy... garbage truck etc. 2nd night was quiet.…
Overall pleasant stay. Wine and cheese was served at 4pm in the dining room which was a nice touch. Rooms are in a modern building at the side of the house where the reception/dining room is. Old fashioned in style but we expected that with it being called The Victorian Inn. Lift area is a bit scruffy. Rooms are clean but do not have conditioning. Reception staff are very friendly and breakfast was nice. Short walk to Cannery Row in Monterey.
