The staff was friendly and helpful when we checked in. The day we checked out we had forgotten our wallet in the room, and the staff were super helpful in looking for it, called us and wrote an email that they had found it. They looked through all the laundry and found it there, so it was quite an effort. So pleased with their eagerness to help!! Very sweet staff!
We were looking for cheap accommodation for a couple of nights, avoiding LA. We got that! Room was great, no problems at all, hotel staff were excellent - we had to complain about extremely loud TV noise from adjacent room late at night - immediately sorted. Seemed like lots of people stay there long-term; judging by constant noise and comings and goings, possibly shift workers. Walls are very thin so we could hear every word from neighbours' TV in the middle of the night at random times (went on ad off for no obvious reason). Area around the hotel is auto repair shops. There's a bar/Mexican restaurant next-door (very nice), Domino's the other way and a chicken place the other side of the street, but it's not a pleasant area to wander around in. Shame about the location because the room itself was pretty good!…
Visiting the in-laws for Easter, with not enough room for us to stay at their place we decided to check out the Palace Inn. Based on the look, I'm guessing this place was built in the 50's. Overall the place was clean, has a kitchenette, stove, and microwave. The unique part was the big jacuzzi tub (also had a regular tub/shower combo. One interesting part was this place has rooms rented out to construction workers for what appears to be an extended stay situation (notice the work boots outside their room). Side note, there was no working smoke detector in our room (#18). Overall ok place to stay, not a family place would we come back? Only as a last resort.
Worst night of a lengthy road trip. Room cost was over $100 with taxes and for this we had a very negative experience. The shower curtain was moldy, used caution not to touch. The room had no coffeemaker and coffee was not available in the office. When I inquired about ice, I was directed to purchase it at the liquor store next door. No ice machine was available as they were concerned with theft or vandalism. The room did not have hangers either. But worst of all was a car alarm going off at 2am and a loud argument going on between a guest and the owner/manager with threats to call police and demands to have money returned. I did not feel safe and could not sleep that night. Was reluctant to write this negative review about what seems like a small family operation, but informing fellow travelers won out.…
I booked a room at this place as a last-minute decision, since they had a room with a king-sized bed available. Despite the mixed reviews I've read regarding this property, I was glad I chose to stay here. Yeah, looking at the exterior of the property doesn't seem to be promising as far as neatness pleasantness, but it's a whole different story once you step in the room. First things first, check-in was fast and friendly. There was only a woman working the front when I got to the property. She was nice and friendly; she even gave me Room #1. The room was actually pleasant to step into. It had furniture, a mini-fridge, the bathroom vanity was impressive. I also liked the gray wall around the bathroom. The bed was comfortable to sleep in. The motel includes Wi-Fi, and has a large flat-screen TV. Indeed, I got a good night's sleep. I will definitely return to this place on a future visit.…
I don't understand the bad reviews . The management was awesome . The room was clean . Bed comfortable . It isn't in the best neighborhood in Oxnard but I felt safe . It had a great shower . Over all I liked it and thought it was cute and quaint . I would stay there again .
This place is a dump! Area is sketchy for sure. Pictures of the property are very misleading. Did not feel safe in this neighborhood at all. They charged us three times their regular rate (see schedule of rates on website). They claim the rate changes based on the day but they do not state that anywhere on their website. NEVER STAY HERE!!
Traveling through CA, hoped to stay in Santa Barbara but oops, rooms full for a three day festival. Opted for Oxnard last minute and opted for Palace Inn on rate plus review. Original reservation was for one bed room. Upon check-in Friday night was upgraded to a back corner room for no extra cost. Nice and quiet and twice the space. This is not a new facility, but was very clean and up to date. Thanks
Horrid stay there, thankfully only one night. Shady neighborhood in Oxnard. Owner tried to double charge credit card for smoking. Was not smoking and had to contest the charge due to his shady business practices. Coffee in small lobby was NEVER available anytime of day, even at 7:15 in the morning. Skip this place for sure, you can spend the same amount of money at a motel 6 and have a much better experience. Dirty clumps of hair in the jacuzzi and UNDER the bed there was about an inch of dust. Hopefully nothing of yours rolls under there or else. Shady owners; Beware of Palace Inn.
Stayed here recently for Business. The room was alright, but not great. On the upside there was a Microwave and Frig in the room with a Big Flat Screen in the room connected to DirecTV, but could not figure out the stations. The WiFi worked, but was on and off intermittently in the morning. The only thing I didn't care for was Prostitutes who hung around and seems like people checked into this place for sexual tryst. Also my room had a terrible smell to the point I had to leave my window ope for fresh air. Well, the price was right except not worth what they charged on Friday night. I do not understand the attraction of Oxnard that command high hotel rates at nicer and cleaner facilities, especially on the week-end...
