Everything is new in this remodeled Hilton. It used to be called Mandalay Beach Resort and I miss that vibe. Don’t really get the new Zacharies name. But on the upside the staff was super friendly and took care of requests promptly—from heat issues to bringing extra linens. Very comfortable bed and wonderful beach access. Hilton has also instituted a free two hour rental on everything from paddle boards to monopoly games. Saw several families resent hover boards. They even have a record player and selected albums to enjoy — all In the gift store. Brand new gym. Outdoor fire pit at night right outside the restaurant.

Hotel's Favourite
My husband and I took our niece here as part 3 of our California vacation. We loved every minute of staying in this hotel! Firstly, we came up the elevator from the parking garage and into a lovely courtyard full of plants and waterfalls - wow! The suite was spacious and comfortable. We had a corner room and the deck wrapped around, which was really cool. We ate breakfast on the deck every day. The restaurant there was nice. We enjoyed sitting outside at the gas-lit table. The pool was delightful (you have to schedule time b/c of covid). The breakfast was the best of our trip - they had it all down pat. All the staff we interacted with were kind. We also loved that this hotel is right on the beach. We had a really glorious stay and were sad to leave!

I took my mom and family here for a birthday celebration. We booked three rooms and my brother came to join from out of town in a fourth room. This hotel was renovated and re-branded as a Curio. It used to be an Embassy Suites. The whole hotel felt brand new, they did a great job updating the rooms and public spaces. What stood out the most was the service—every team member encounter was warm and friendly. Felt like being at a Waldorf or 5-star property. At check in I met the GM and could tell his leadership was solid. Can’t wait to come back.

Room Tip: Study the property. It’s easy to get lost amongst the sprawling footprint.

Very nice remodel with the Curio Collection by Hilton rebranding of this resort. Unfortunately with the new room rates on other fees almost doubling, The resort will be out of reach for most families for a multiple night stay. Also with the rebranding of the the hotel from Embassy Suites to the Curio Collection guest loose the complementary breakfast and happy hour. We stayed during one night during the Thanksgiving weekend which the resort would usually be backed or sold out. Now it is a ghost town. Not the family fun resort we loved so much. We have stayed here many times over the years as the affordable Embassy Suites Resort. But now as the Curio Collection that vibe is gone. Unfortunately we won't be back. As a Hilton Honors member I am not a fan of this particular rebranding especially for Oxnard. Unfortunately I would not recommend this resort.

Recently took the family for a much needed staycation to Zachari Dunes. We used to visit a lot, in the early 2000s,  when it was Embassy Suites and looked forward to the rebranding. There are lots of negative reviews, but reviews are one-sided. And here's my side: We arrived early and both rooms were ready. When I discovered we'd be separated by multiple buildings, I asked nicely if we could be closer. And they found rooms in the same building, one floor difference. The rooms were clean and the ocean views, the reason we love it here, were amazing. We even saw a couple of whale blows from the balcony. Because of covid and being short staffed, housekeeping isn't automatic...you need to opt in. We did not opt in, and had no problems getting extra coffee and supplies, toilet paper, Kleenex, etc., when we asked. We never waited longer than 30 minutes, but they constantly apologized for the long wait. My sister left some muffins in a container on the wet bar in her room, and ants found them. They immediately sent someone up to spray, and a crew returned later to clean up the ant carnage, as well as the rest of the room. The elevator near our building malfunctioned one day. Texted with the issue, and it was fixed immediately. We ate in the restaurant twice, once for lunch and breakfast the day we checked out. Service was a little slow, but they were working things out, and we were not in a hurry. They apologized profusely, which wasn't necessary. Everyone we encountered on our stay (front desk, restaurant, bartenders, maintenance, housekeeping, Henry's shop) was always pleasant and always greeted us. Even the grounds keeper who was standing knee high I'm a pond, cleaning out all of the leaves, grass and junk the Santa Ana winds blew into it overnight, greeted us with a smile. We will definitely be back.

This hotel is in a great location, right on the beach. Rooms were very spacious and clean. Guest check in was awesome. Everyone was very friendly. Heated pools made it perfect for nearing winter temperatures. Just wish I would have taken one of the rooms right on the beach!

We recently stayed at this property for the first time since their remodel. They did an amazing job! The rooms used to smell musky and were in pretty bad shape. Now, they are as good as new! The views are still absolutely stunning too! The staff, especially Jessica and Sophia, were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful! They made sure we had a great time and made us feel at home. We also enjoyed the jacuzzi, gym, and game room. The restaurant was still working out some kinks, but otherwise, it was a fantastic trip and we will definitely be back!

we were looking to celebrate a big birthday and a few hotels were o the table, one owned by a friend. My cousin accidentally booked here not realizing the rest of us selected and booked elsewhere. They would not, 5 minutes later - reimburse his room. They did however, force both us us to listen to some BS timeshare time suck and have phone representatives that do not speak clear english with kids and barking all around. In short, we all had to book here and I will never stay at ANY Hilton again after this overpriced, underserviced experience.

We stayed at this property for one night this past weekend and it was just short of a disaster. The property was rebranded and is now a part of the "Curio" collection for hilton which apparently means they can jsut slap a coat of paint on the exterior and redesign the lobby and then charge ridiculous prices because its beachside accomadations. When we arrived at 11:30, we were told the restuarant would be opening for lunch "shortly" and my son and i waited around because we were hungry. Absolutely no one was in the restaurant and we stood around for more then 30 minutes and continued to check with the lobby and were told it should be open "shortly". After an additional 20 minutes, we decided to leave the property and get lunch elsewhere as we were told our room wouldnt be ready until "much later". Aside from the renovated lobby, the common areas and the elevator to the parking lot are absolutely disgusting. There is an access "security" door by the side of the rooms that is completely open (unlocked and apparently broken) for any person walking along the beach to come into. We finally got our room after 3 pm while we were waiting at the beach and noticed that the door handle to our room was almost completely broken off the door. We then went by the pool area and were told that the supposed "poolside" food options were not available and had not yet opened for the hotel even though the website CLEARLY states that this is available. For a cost of more then $400/night (and a resort fee and other misc items on top of that) this hotel should never have reopened as it was clear that the amenities and quality of the location are not ready. I recommend all hotel guests to really think twice about paying this insane cost for a glorified motel 6 on the beach

Very nice bed and linens. Good location. Ice machine easy to find and functional. Other than that this has been a most unpleasant experience in every way. Room by the elevator, hallways on bath sides of the room, dirty bathrooms upon arrival, must request fresh towels and they still didn’t leave enough - and no bathmats even when requested. Very expensive breakfast and lunch options and still limited. Can’t pull up the menu using the QR code as advertised. I ended up walking over there. Difficult to find the entrance to the rooms, in general very loud and not restful. If you must stay here use the top floor so you don’t have to listen to the person upstairs getting in their steps all day and night. Today while working in my room they used some kind of industrial solvent in the hall outside my door. In 15 minutes I had a headache, nausea and was dizzy. I reported this to the front desk attendant but never heard back. For all they know I’m dead here in my room right now. We are here until Monday and will never ever return to this hotel.
