If you were looking for a basic youth hostel experience close to nature, at a price to match, the Asilomar would be perfect. However, the rooms are crazily expensive, very, very sparsely furnished in cheap materials, hardly reflective of a rate of $188 a night. Meals are also very costly. In short, the Asilomar is not worth it at all...

My wife and I have stayed at Asilomar many times in the past but last November (2016) was the first time we were part of a group. We had a family reunion and enjoyed the group experience immensely. We chose an informal approach where small groups enjoyed the day as they liked and met as a group only for dinner....

This is really a great place - I mean the grounds. View is great! Rooms definitely need an upgrade. It doesn't look just old, they look dirty and without maintenance, care. Staff is helpful at the front desk. It is not the same at the restaurant sometimes. Underwhelming. If you like architecture you must pay a visit to Asilomar to...

Asilomar has beautiful grounds nearly on the beach at Asilomar State Park. The view is fabulous. The rooms, however, are very spartan so don't expect much. The historic room we were in was tiny, looked like it hadn't been updated since built in the '60's and didn't even have a coffee maker. I was told you could "request" one at...

Asilomar is nestled between the pines only a stone's throw from the Pacific Ocean on the Monterey Peninsula. The buildings are mostly wooden rustic lodges that give it great character. Many of the rooms have there own fireplaces contributing to the charm. Unfortunately, the catering, although improved over the past few years, leaves something to be desired. Still you can't...

Amazing hotel/resort to stay, relax, and enjoy nature. Beautiful rustic cabin/lodge style rooms with awesome walking grounds. Conveniently located near the beautifully preserved state beach. Deer and other wildlife can often be seen wandering the grounds. S'mores and hot chocolate making a night. A truly fun and relaxing place to stay.

We didn't stay at Asilomar - but rather, enjoyed a stroll around the buildings and grounds to learn more about the architect. The history of the Asilomar Conference Center is extraordinary - Julia Morgan, one of America's first female architects designed the buildings for the YWCA in the early 1900s. The spaces are lofty, large, airy and art deco...you'll enjoy...

I was expecting more from this place. It had lovely grounds but the rooms and the restaurant was underwhelming. I asked for an ocean view (if I stood in one part of the room and looked between the trees and another building, I had a glimpse. They really need to change their options for booking - this is know as...

We are not fancy people and we don't need posh accommodations but this was ridiculous. If I new we would feel like we needed to leave our shoes on in the room and not touch anything, we would have stayed somewhere else. This place has literally not had any updates (or repairs) since the 1970's. There were stains on the...

Love it! Beautiful, well maintained grounds... Staff were so helpful and really wanted you to be happy! Food was good and the paths to the beach were way wonderful! Rooms very old and in need of updates but huge and clean. Big outdoor heated pool, no one used was great! They ran things with lots of people very smoothly... and...
