Pacific Gardens Inn is a homey, old school style hostelry nestled amongst the Cypress and Monterey Pines of Pacific Grove. Pacific Gardens Inn is situated directly across the street from the Asilomar conference Center. A short walk through the Asilomar campus will bring you to Asilomar State Beach for sunset viewing.
This area of Pacific Grove offers a quieter experience as compared with the numerous motels and lodges along Munras Avenue on Carmel Hill, for instance.
The Inn offers some nice touches: fireplace; High quality in-room coffee; a variety of scones and pastries in addition to the ever present bagel as a part of the continental breakfast menu. Waffles are also available.
The staff, both in the booking process as well as during our stay was extremely helpful and friendly.
I suggest contacting the Inn directly when booking rather than using an online third-party site. We needed to confirm that we would be placed in a pet friendly room given that we were bringing our 7 pound terrier with us.
If, like us, you are bringing an animal on your trip, be advised that should the dog take an interest in something underneath the wooden walkways about the grounds it has probably discovered a raccoon, as our dog indeed did.

I'd stay here again. While the place could use some updating; the price is affordable and the cleanliness, the friendliness of the staff and the amenities were fantastic. The location was very quiet and peaceful, yet it was only a 2 mile drive to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
I had a room with a fireplace and real wood! My view was of a wooded area, complete with a visiting blue jay. They also supply a popcorn popper and popcorn.
I was impressed with the quality of the breakfast they provided during this pandemic and the steps that they took to be sure everything was individually wrapped. The wine in the evening was a pleasant surprise, and the only draw back was you took your glass to go, due to the pandemic.
I'll be back. It was very quiet and not the hustle, bustle (or expense) of staying in Monterey.

We are a small group of friends that do annual bike rides in the Pebble Beach Area. Years ago, by chance, we found this wonderful hotel and have been returning each year. The Pacific Garden Inn is a nice, quaint and rustic place to stay in a quiet location. Our room was recently remodeled. It was large and had a small refrigerator and gas fireplace. It also has one of the best breakfast layouts with excellent coffee, juice, fresh baked pastries’, bagels, waffles, and eggs. What makes this place outstanding is Annette. She works in the front office and does the breakfast spread. She is a star example of an employee that wants to make everything perfect for you. Whatever we asked for, she would run and get it and return with a smiling face. It was a pleasure to wake up in the morning to see such a happy, friendly person who just wanted to serve you. She knows how to treat a guest and make you feel very welcomed. This hotel is lucky to have such an employee!!!

Nice location and clean room, but had a really unfortunate experience while traveling with a trained dog. Paid the pet fee, but discovered weeks later they charged an 80 fee, without an explanation. Ultimately, I was told the fee was for "pet cleaning" with a note from housekeeping that the dog urinated on the bed. This was shocking because quite frankly we knew it wasn't true -- we've trained the dog to sleep in her cage and the room was spotless when we checked out (we literally just came back and crashed). When calling Calvin (the manager), he promised to look into it, but despite calling him every day for a week and folowing up via e-mail, he was completely unresponsive. I truly feel they assumed I wouldn't notice or dispute the charge. Perhaps this is a plan to come up with extra revenue during the pandemic? Never had this experience before and we stayed in 10 hotels during a three week road trip (and no issues at any other properties).

The place is near the beach and area restaurants and more. Located in a quiet neighborhood. Rooms are well maintained, except that they really need to oil the door hinges on front door to each room. Ours squeaked loudly and the room next door was just as bad. I know because the occupants went in and out every 5 - 10 minutes from 8am till about 9:30am during our stay. Made it impossible to sleep. Can't speak to the breakfast as we skipped it. The plastic bags of garbage stacked against the building next door (another accommodation) wasn't very pleasant to look at, but that was not Pacific Gardens Inn's doing or fault.

Stayed at Pacific Gardens Inn and was extremely impressed with their customer service.
My phone call to make a reservation was handled by a very friend and competent young lady. When we arrived we were met by a friendly gentlemen who we had seen several times and was always friendly.
The Pacific Garden Inn is located right across the street from Asilomar Convention Center. A easy walk to the beach and centrally located within minutes to local stares and supermarkets.
The only "con" I had was the daily breakfast they offered. It is from 7:30-10:00 am. We arrived at 8:45 am and they were out of almost everything and didn't seem to replenish the pastries, the plates or the coffee.

As we age, we need more amenities! We got the 2 bedroom unit and had enough room for our laptop, room to cook, chairs for watching tv instead of the usual hotel/motel bed and a 'balcony' area so we could sit outside.
The staff was very nice. The place was spotless. And even with Covid, we had a continental breakfast with decent pastries, waffles etc., and only one person at a time in the breakfast room. Missed the wine and cheese tho as we went to two early dinners.
The only downside is that the room, which was more like a college kid's apartment, had no 'charm'. Furniture was not comfortable nor attractive, lighting thru-out was minimal and some TLC needed in certain areas. But owning a hotel is not a job I'd want! But I very much appreciated the alarm clock as I can't see the time on my cell phone without my glasses! But no AC so if you are a warm person bring a small fan., unless they have one which we didn't remember to ask!!!
Go back? Yes but might try a vacation rental next time. They seem to have better decorators!!
And this was,by far 100% better than our room at the Cannery Row Inn, which was the same price and a whole lot smaller with a lot longer TLC list!

We booked a suite with a separate bedroom so the parents could have quiet time at night. The kitchen was fully equipped and we walked to the beach in the morning and evenings. Looking forward to staying here again.

This was a father daughter hiking weekend in Big Sur. As we live across the country from each other I thought it would be great to take the 2-bedroom suite so we could use the living room to have cocktails and catch up. That proved to be a terrific decision. The shared space and the full kitchen made the trip much easier. The hotel supplied wood and set a fire each night which was a special touch.

The breakfast was a bit on the “basic” side, but Covid has challenged us all.

What can you say, but, "We like the place!" The staff has always been positive, friendly and informative. We frequently travel with our small Terrier and the Inn accommodates her. This area of PG has become our usual choice on the Monterey Peninsula given its seclusion from Carmel Hill, Cannery Row, et al.
A brief walk through the Asilomar Conference facility will bring you to the beach for sunset viewing.
There is breakfast and a wine Happy Hour!
The rooms we have stayed in have been large with the usual accoutrement.
