STOP ! STOP ! STOP ! This Rosedale Inn, Pacific Grove, California - Is the WORST Inn we ever stayed ! Don't be cheated by the beautiful photo in the web site or Facebook. My friend recommended us as he stayed here a few years ago and the American boss is honest and kind. But I think they change the management. When we walk in to check in the office, it was an Indian lady boss that confirm and check our booking. She checked our book and allocate a room for our family. Well, the unpleasant experience has just begun. We book a suite but it the worst hotel room we ever stayed in our life. The room and light are very run down, there is no electrical socket nearby the bedside table for us use the little dark and dusty alarm clock where they put on the shelve. Why put it there if you do not intend for us to use it? And there is black color coffee maker that after turning on the red led power on for an hour, the water is not hot to make a cup of coffee. Note this so call Suite that we paid USD $170 per night welcome us with - Lots of broken, tore away sofa, broken and crack tiles on the floor, the curtain, sofa is very dirty, the light are dim and not bright, they use low watt bulb to save money and the so call Vase type Lamp is broken and crack ! The door to the back court yard is broken, and you can't open it normally and instead they replaced it with temporary" lock" system that is hard to open. When you walk out to the back court yard, you can see is a very run down dirty plastic white table and chairs , wet and dirty etc. etc. You just want to get back to the room - You can tell it has not properly taken care off for a long period of time. Now, we visit this horrible place in Jan 23 and its winter and yet there is no hot water from the shower tab ! The water is COLD. And the so call water Jet Bath Tub is very run down and has been repaired by a few patching here and there. The worst of all is that it is leaking water at the bottom of the bath tub onto the floor and yes, we have to mop it and clean because the OFFICE IS CLOSED, No one there to help you. Moreover, the bath room basin water tap pressure is way too small to do your normal washing routine in the morning and at night. With no option since the OFFCE ARE CLOSED, I have to try my luck and knock on the office door hoping that the Indian lady boss is still around. When she come out from her house which is just next door, I told her there is no hot water, she said the previous guess that left this morning has no issue, and she said maybe it was the strong wind that might have blown off the pilot fire ! She will turn it back on and after 30mins I should have the hot water back. If the previous guess was there this morning, the water system should have hot water, that is to say, the water system has not been turn on at all. She could have just apologize and we can accept that but instead she blamed it on the wind and make remark that previous guess has no issue. It is the responsibility of the owner to make sure everything should work properly before it is allowed for people to book. But they didn't. So the next morning, as usual, the office is still not opened, but luckily I manage to find her and told her about the water pressure is way too small and she make a comment that the water pressure is within the American plumbing standard ! I told her i have been to many hotel in USA and theirs water pressure is standard and normal and we have no issue with it but the so call Deluxe suite room that we stayed, the water pressure is way too small to use it for your normal morning routine washing. And I also let her know that there are a lot of things are broken and not properly maintain. And what she said really surprise me. She said that she didn't know about all this run down issues in this room ! I told her she know about this but yet you still let us stay there and charge us. Her replied to me was Classic - She said " You are the one that book the room, its not me". We book a Deluxe Suite through web site, we can't choose a room, we can only choose Deluxe suite that show photos and description that appeared professionally done and well written with beautiful wording, and when we arrived, she gave us this broken room. So she lied and put the blame on the guess. Shameless lady Boss. Dear Tourist, this is a very run down Inn and under this New management I will not recommend anyone to stay here and in fact stay away from this place !

Thank you for your feedback. It is really unfortunate that your stay here wasn't up to your expectations. We apologize for your experience. We also wanted to inform you that when a guest books a specific room type, that is the room type we assign and you booked a Deluxe Two Queen Suite and that is what we assigned to you. We are in an area that gets windy and because we are surrounded by trees and also get ocean breeze, sometimes the pilot lights blow out. When we were asked has no-one else complained about it, our response to you was that someone else is in that building and they haven't said anything and neither did the person who checked out of that building earlier that day. We resolved that issue within minutes for you. However, we do understand you shouldn't have dealt with these issues and we again apologize for your unpleasant experience.

We've been staying at the Rosedale Inn for more than 20 years. It's a perfect, quiet location, the rooms are good-sized with microwave and refrig. We've always returned happily. Until now. Unfortunately the new management doesn't believe in cleaning. There was one maid for all of the rooms. No breakfast (although that isn't a deal breaker, most places have reinstated breakfast). The worst though, was the poor condition of this once-lovely inn. While the room appeared to be clean, it is sadly in need of maintenance especially the bathroom. The carpeting was absolutely filthy (we walked barefoot and our feet were filthy afterward.) There was a stain on the bathtub where something had obviously been spilled and looked as though it had been there a while. The bed was such a mess we had to remake it (I've never actually seen such a sloppy hotel bed...and it was lumpy and old. The fan barely turns (when we asked about this the desk clerk said that the owner had deliberately slowed them down...you couldn't even feel the air move.) The water (when you brush your teeth) is smelly. Outside the room, the once pristine grounds are littered with trash; the same discarded face masks, kleenex and other debris were there the entire 4 days we stayed. The tile floors and steps outside the room was absolutely disgusting; stains and dirt everywhere. Too bad...this is now our ex-favorite place in PG.

This was a terrible place, we were charged $300 for one night and it was a dive. The carpet was old and smelly, the windows were hard to open and screens broken, couch broken down cushions, felt worse than a motel 6, old, ugly, gloomy, dingy property, a complete ripoff!! The owners are just raking in profits and taking advantage of customers and putting nothing into upkeep, its just bare basics from a long time ago, nothing is updated.

The hotel could be charming but it’s more of a strange mix of things falling apart in the room with a couple of new tweaks like the carpet or the bathroom, but not even the entire bathroom, half the bathroom is from 1970s and the other half is from 2020. The part that I think is the worst is the bed is old and tired, play the rest of the room, and the bedsheets have stains that in some cases are yellow or many different colors. I don’t think it’s not clean, but basically, all the bedsheets have seen probably 30 years of hotel life and makes you really wonder if you want to get in bed at all. The room is huge, as they are there 103, but strangely the bed faces the parking lot and hands is pretty noisy whereas the back is a living room overlooking a weeded patio without any furniture. Oh, and forget about getting any Internet. AT&T gives you one bar and the Internet is worse than that one bar. Not work the $550 for two days at all. If this was $90 a night, then I’d change the review.

I will not recommend this Inn. In fact I advise you to avoid it. It’s not worth the money-torn carpet, rust, low water pressure, bathtub separating from wall, peeling wallpaper and paint...not a “luxury suite” at all. The one positive I can say is the location is very nice.

Just returned form a stay at the Rosedale Inn, don’t bother staying. Everything is outdated, needing major renovations and is noisy. Stayed in a King room, has adjoining wall with room next door, sounded like storm troopers with the way they walked around all night. The advertised fireplace didn’t work, the bathroom window had no locking mechanism on it, the carpet was frayed and worn. Wall paper in bathroom peeling off the wall in the shower and the front panel of the jetted tub was falling off. Had such a bad night of sleep that we left with one night left on our reservation.

We just stayed here for 2 nights. The good: we stayed in a king suite and it was really large. We had plenty of room to spread out. It appeared to be clean. The bad: the room is tired!! The sheets were stained. They smelled clean but the stains are really off putting. The carpet is worn and was actually torn and pulling up. The bathroom had painters tape holding wallpaper up and the tub sides were falling off. The tv in the bedroom works but the color is wrong.....everything looks green. The fridge is very loud. The outside sitting area is really crappy and the view from the bedroom over the back fence looks like some crack house. The sofa in the living room section is the most uncomfortable I have ever sat on. We were in room 110 so maybe some of the others have had a facelift? I know we are in COVID times and things are tough but this is maintenance that has been deferred for quite a while.....not just 8 months of tough times. I spent $460 for 2 nights which is way too much for what we got. I wouldn’t come back any time soon.

We chose one of the suites, which gives you a living room with a gas fireplace and a separate bedroom. Separate thermostat in the living room and bedroom, so you can keep both rooms comfortable. Both rooms have a t.v. and the king bed is very comfortable. They've done remodeling since our last visit. New carpets and a hide-a-bed in the living room. Good wifi and easy checkin. Free continental breakfast includes waffles.

We stayed here 2 nights as the price was good, and the location was great for what we planned to do. The staff was very pleasant, but the rooms are tired. I am used to higher end sheets, even at non-luxury hotels. Also the towels are acceptable, but plusher towels would go a long way to improve the feel of the room. It was fine, but next time I want this location I would look more closely at Asilomar or other options. It seemed to be a good option for families.
