The Deer Haven Inn is really a gem. It's in a nice quiet neighborhood minutes from downtown Pacific Grove and Monterey. The staff were very welcoming and the property was clean and well kept. I would definitely stay here again. :)

This was our second stay at Deer Haven Inn. The first stay was a little more than three years ago. I read the newer reviews on TA after booking this stay and warned DD and DS it might not be nearly as good a place as DH and I recalled. It was a wonderful stay! Rooms were immaculate, evening desk clerk could not have been nicer, shower pressure was great, bed was comfortable, room was quiet. Yes, the door to our room was scuffed up, but that did not bother us. If I am ever in Pacific Grove again, Deer Haven Inn with be my go-to place to stay. The rates are better than most places in the area and we had zero complaints.

This has been our go to lodging on Monterey Peninsula. The usual positives: clean room, etc. But this trip negatives occurred. Our shower had no hot water on departure morning, and we met another person with same problem. The TV did not work first night, although night manager fixed it promptly. We went to bed first night; night managers tv kept us awake. We detected new management, so will look for new place to stay on our next trip.

Not woodsy. On busy street.Very overpriced. Very beat up. Amit the host was nice, but that is not enough. I have taken a photo of the side yard, which will be your view if you take room 120. I would not go again.

We chose this hotel based on location, and Trip Advisor reviews. What a disappointment. We stayed two nights, in two rooms. Check-in was through a window, where the lady working there slid the paperwork and key through a slot. We asked for two rooms close together, and they could not have been further apart. This motel is one level in some sections, and two levels in other sections. No elevator if you’re on the second floor. First clue to the condition of the hotel is the door to each room. They’re completely battered, and in need of some paint. For the price we paid per night, they can afford a can of paint. The second room our family had, could be opened just by pushing on the door, even though it was locked! After many useless suggestions from the front office, and many hours of waiting, they finally moved our family in that room to a different room. The rooms (two queen beds) are quite small. There is barely enough room to open up your suitcase. The fireplace was nice, but beware that there is no air conditioning. There is also no breakfast included, even though the website indicates that there is. The fire-pit looks nice in website photos, but is actually just outside the window where you check in, and right on the corner, at the stop sign. Not exactly a nice comfortable place to relax. There was no housekeeping, when we were there for two nights, even though we hung the sign outside our door for housekeeping. Check-out was disappointing. They took the key, and asked nothing about our stay. I don’t usually write negative reviews, because I do a lot of research before hand, but this place deserves a poor rating. Location is the only good thing about it.

We have stayed at this inn off and on over the years and have always been happy with it, but our most recent stay was not as nice. This inn needs some TLC. The rubber mat for the bathtub looked moldy, the flooring in our room was in need of repair or replacement. Will probably look for another place to stay the next time we’re in the area.

Hi fellow TA. Deerhaven Inn in PG just got back from staying . As always read review on TA under travelers ratings. Number 3. 1 an 2 costs a fortune to stay so was curious how DH come in number 3. Well it was a great place very large rooms Clean,Large refrigerater.Micro an nice table with two chairs . Is it at Hilton,Marriott etc . No. ! But don't take a thing from DH location price an remolded rooms. Believe Sue at the desk is owner. Couldn't be nicer!. Got there a little early ! No problem room was ready so let us in with a smile. Right on the corner of hotel location is Asilomar Conference center. You will see the two large stone pliers an Asilomar Conference center on them. You walk threw the pilers an road straight threw to beach. Beautiful walk an area. Deer ruining all around. the conference center is spread across a large area which is a park other side is Asilomar beach . Can't wait to return. Note we are retired. Travel midweek. Never weekends.

We chose Deer Haven for its proximity to Asilomar. It is a classic motel that has had a bit of updating. . We had a king room (worst pillows ever - chunks of foam) with white linens ( important to us) which had a small loveseat and tiny table in the corner. Not really a work space. Ancient coffee maker but no fridge. It smelled heavily of the same disinfectant they use in convalescent homes when we arrived, and was very warm inside. We opened windows, left front door open to get a cross breeze , but you border a busy road and until very late you do hear traffic. However, you can park in front of your room which is very nice. The room was very clean and the location is a 20 minute walk to the beach. Staff seemed fine, the woman as we checked out was far more welcoming than when we checked in. No serious issues, but I am not sure I would stay hear again unless little else was available.

Thank you for taking the time to let our team know about your stay. We're so sorry you didn't see the mini-fridge in the cabinet under the TV! If you decide to stay with us another time, be sure to call the Front Desk if you have any needs or questions. We do have box fans available for guests on one of those rare warm days.... Kind regards, Sue and team

We spent couple of nights here and enjoyed the stay. The original plan was only for one night and we loved it so much that we extended it. The location is walking distance away from the Asilomar beach. This is a little hidden gem for sure.

If you are looking for clean, basic and quiet place to sleep at a very reasonable nightly rate, this is the place for you. Our room had a king-size bed with a fireplace, microwave and a small refrigerator. The location is away from touristy sights but within walking distance to the butterfly sanctuary and the beach. While we were walking to the sanctuary, we saw deer walking down the street as if that was just the thing to do on a nice sunny day.
