Good size rooms. Bed was comfortable. Generally clean (shower could use a new caulking). Nice size fridge. Having a fireplace was a nice touch. Hot tub was soothing after walking all day. Continental breakfast had enough choices, although the room they served it in was small but they had trays so you could take it to your room. Covered parking.

The location is great and that what you're probably paying for. The rooms are in need of remodeling...the major perk was there was a fireplace which was perfect for the cold June evening. The hallways had skylights (I believe) which made the 70's interior less dreary. The overall experience was average, but be prepared to pay for a resort.

The staff here was very friendly , but the entire "resort " was filthy. The pool was run down and dirty, if they can't afford to remodel it, they could at least keep it clean. The " spa" looked like a nuclear waste dump, it was a strange orange/yellow foaming mess. The room they put us in first had a... More

First of all, the staff was very friendly and improved the overall impression. The place is a bit aged which is pretty obvious. The breakfast did not meet my (low) expectations. The price now really turned me down - poor value for money. The location is nice.

This hotel is located on the edge of the monarch butterfly reserve in Pacific Grove. A trail runs through the reserve and it is beautiful. The room was extremely comfortable, neatly kept and roomy. We enjoyed our stay there very much and are looking forward to staying there again. The breakfast way great.

Just returned from staying 6 nights in Monarch Resort. Would recommend this place for anybody except may be young companies. Very clean, quiet, price is good, very friendly staff. By all means it is a good place. We initially wanted to stay just 2 nights but extended to 6

After searching high & low, we booked this hotel. First off, it was very expensive for a 1970's quality of accommodation. Second, they boasted a fire place but it was 85 degrees out with no air-conditioning. Please note if your room is located inside the courtyard, there is no cross breeze. There was an old ceiling fan that did not... More

We spent the Feast of Lanterns weekend here and look forward to returning very soon! Immaculate bedroom/bathroom, welcoming staff, wonderful amenities. Close to downtown Pacific Grove...within walking distance to restaurants/beach.

Very nice room with a fire place, I wish there had been someone special with me. Nice pool, hot tub and sauna. A short walk to the ocean, historic Point Pinos Lighthouse, 17 Mile Drive, Monarch Grove Sanctuary, Monterey, Carmel and the list goes on and on.
