This is a perfectly placed hotel/motel. Situated in Pacific Grove its a 5 minute stroll to a stunning Pacific coastline and a 10 minute drive to the beautiful '17 mile drive'. You can walk into downtown where there are many restaurants and shops, or drive 10 minutes into the slightly busier Monterey. The hotel was clean and tidy, although the toilet seat did need repair. We also had problems with the door, but the front desk were very helpful. The room had a large and comfortable bed, a functional bathroom with the sink outside, useful when the wife is in the bath! The area is simply stunning. There were deer wandering around outside the hotel and in gardens, so watch your speed when driving. I'd go back again, I just love the area, a hidden gem.

We had a cabin/cottage with its own kitchen, including stove and oven. The cabin has the bed and a table with two chairs, but no other furniture. This was an easy place to visit because we could park right in front of our cabin and bring our dog. The little compound there is a good place for walking a dog, and there is a neat fire pit area. It is like a 20 minute walk to the beach.

We liked that our cabin had blackout curtains and that we could see the TV from the bed. One issue to improve: shower temperature would fluctuate dramatically and had low water pressure.

Price, Cleanliness, and not being woken up all night by hot rods, jets or motorcycles was important. I booked the room through their site directly and got the room for 202usd after all fees and taxes. The room was clean and we have a 2yr-old so we had a double queen room. The mini-fridge was very quiet. The shower was weak. Low-flow head and water pressure sucked, but it was clean and just a bit outdated. We did sleep well. The price difference between a safe place and a run down dirty place was literally 30usd per night difference once you get away from the fake fees for the online travel sites (booking sites). They do charge for pets, but the point is we saved $40 per night by dealing with the hotel directly and not through an online search website.

I really wanted to like this place. The rates seemed reasonable, they are walking distance from the beach and dog friendly. However we booked a Queen Cottage Deluxe, it was supposed to have a fireplace and kitchenette. The day of our check in we called before noon as they requested because they wanted to confirm we were bringing a dog and it's size so they "could prepare the room." We arrived a little before 6pm, after a long drive to check in. We paid for a small dog but because our dog was 5 pounds over we needed to pay $20 for the medium dog fee. Not a big deal and we were so excited for the amenities we did not make a fuss. Dan the man at the front desk was very helpful and kind, so we thought we had nothing to worry about. However when we arrived to our room it was not at all what we paid for. It was not a cottage, in fact per their website it was a room that did not allow dogs and did not offer anything that we paid extra for (fireplace, kitchenette) Assuming it was an error we went back and showed Dan our reservation and he said that they were booked for the rooms we paid for and this was all he had to offer and they could not offer a refund, and could only move us the following day to the room we reserved and paid for. For such a short stay it was such a disappointment. We somehow paid more for less. We could not enjoy our time here, could have paid less somewhere else for the same room and felt completely taken advantage of, because they would not refund us for giving us less than we paid for. In fact when Dan called the manager, the manager said "we'll what do they want? We can't give them a room, and it's not like they can just stay the night for free." I do not blame Dan at all. He offered a bottle of wine for our trouble. He was so friendly. While I appreciate him, it was clear it was beyond his control but the manager, the business or whoever is responsible for policy and taking care of their customers, was really rude and careless. We had already paid and were essentially stuck here. We would not have come all the way here or at the very least we would have tried to book a different weekend or book with someone else. There are plenty of places near by to stay and I wouldn't suggest staying here but if you do just book the cheapest room because apparently you are subject to staying there no matter what. We won't be back....

My wife booked a room on 9/12/2021 for 2 nights at the Sea Breeze Inn. We are retired and live on a fixed income. We traveled to California to celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary and attend a funeral for a family member. My wife has had knee replacement done on both knees, which makes it difficult for her to climb up and down stairs, so we always call a hotel before we book a room to verify that either the hotel has an elevator or that our room is on the first floor. We also always choose a room that has either 2 queen beds or a king bed.

We were billed on 9/21/2021 for the full amount of a 2 night stay the day before we arrived. When we arrived on 9/22/2021 we were given a room with 1 queen bed. We told the person on duty that we had made a reservation for a room with 2 queen beds. We then were informed that all ground level rooms with 2 queen beds were filled. All that was available was an upstairs room with 2 queen beds but only for one night. The hotel does not have an elevator. We were willing to take a room at another property owned by the same company, but nothing was available. The manager was called by the clerk on duty and the manager falsely claimed that we had made a reservation online which showed that we booked a room with only 1 queen bed. The reservation confirmation showed that we had reserved a “Queen Cottage Deluxe.” No description of how many beds were in the room was included in the confirmation. So, we thought that we would have 2 queen beds. We decided that we could not stay at the Sea Breeze Inn and since our card had already been charged, we asked for a refund. The clerk on duty said that he could not issue a refund and told us to come back the following day and talk to the manager.

We returned the following day and the manager refused to issue a refund. He told us that we had to talk to the clerk who had booked the room, who was not working that day. The manager stated that if the booking clerk recommended that we be given a refund that he would do it. So, we returned again the next day 9/24/2021 and talked with the clerk that booked the room. He stated that he would recommend that a refund be issued. No refund has been given as of 10/1/2021.

Never before in all of our travels, have we paid for a room that we could not use because the hotel could not accommodate us.

So disappointed. We booked this hotel for a 2 night stay through Expedia. We were so looking forward to our stay. We had planned a road trip for my 50th and my daughters 21st birthdays. We liked the look of this hotel it looked fabulous and was a perfect stop off on our route. Sadly due to current travel restrictions both here and being unable to enter the USA from the Uk inevitably, our flights got cancelled and it was impossible to travel so we were forced to cancel. We contacted the hotel through their own website to ask If we could have a full refund despite us booking the hotel on a non cancellable room rate due to the exceptional circumstances we were being presented with globally. We never could have imagined this would happen when.we made the booking last year!! We had no response whatsoever from the hotel. Expedia also contacted the hotel to try to organise a refund. Expedia finally got a response which gave us the option to transfer the booking into a different name!! How on earth could this be a viable option for us over here in the UK with everyone in the same boat!!
We are so disappointed with this hotel and feel really let down. We were forced to cancel through no fault of our own and had saved so hard to book this holiday of a lifetime. We are hoping to travel next year but have lost over £500 of our budget. We booked 5 other hotels and thankfully they all communicated effectively and refunded us fully. Hats off to these hotels, we are so grateful and as such will be rebooking as soon as we are able. Sea breeze inn and cottages I do not understand why you have refused to refund us knowing it was impossible for us to travel. Very unfair and very poor customer service in my opinion. A word of warning to anybody considering making a reservation. If anything goes wrong in terms of the extraordinary situation we find ourselves in they are very unlikely to refund you. Stay safe everyone.

Having stayed at Sea Breeze for the previous 3 visits during Car Week Monterey, i was looking forward to 2022 and booked the room in January 2022 for August show. noticed that it was about 20% more then last year but figured was due to Car week where all the area hotels charge 3 times regular rate. this year we discovered that room cleaning was sparse to non existent and no breakfast pack and go as before. both blamed on Covid and work shortage. even paying $450 night, very under staffed and the on site manager was worthless. our room and others we very under staffed and the on site manager was worthless. our room and others were not cleaned the day before check out and surely to cut costs. many unhappy guests. we found out the place sold after long term prior owners. terrible experience and will not return. dont waste your money here ,pick another hotel.

There is no responsible management at the Sea Breeze. There is no one taking an active interest in the well-being of the customers or of the facility. If you have a reservation at this establishment, you should cancel it. The Sea Breeze is renovating their office, so check-in is at the "Bide a Wee Cottages" a half mile away. You find this out when you pull up to the deserted office at the Sea Breeze. The heat didn't work at all, but we had plenty of blankets. However, while taking a shower at 6:30 AM, the shower handle broke off in my hand. Tried to put the handle back on, but it was cheaply made and had deteriorated to an extent that it was not possible to put back on. Immediately called both phone numbers provided by Sea Breeze management. Left messages. No one ever called back. Left the room at 7 AM. Started calling the office again later in the morning since no one had called me back to see if anything had been done about the shower running. My calls still went to voicemail. Finally at around noon, got someone on the phone. This person had not listened to the messages I had left six hours earlier. He said that he would have maintenance look into it. We went ahead and had lunch then went to our room. The shower was still on. We went to the office at the "Bide a Wee". There still had not been any maintenance person assigned to the shower problem. I asked if they were going to do anything to make up for this situation. The desk person said we could check out and that he would refund me for the upcoming night's stay. I accepted this and we hurriedly packed up our things and returned home a day early.

We stayed here for a golf tournament and when we tried to leave early because he didnt make the cut, there was nobody in the office, we couldn't get a refund or a credit, the AC didn't work, an apartment complex is directly behind the hotel and all we smelled the entire time was weed, and babies cried all day and through the night. It was disappointing to say the least. There is hardly ever anyone in the office and when you call, nobody answers the phone. We won't be coming back here.

Where to begin…I booked through Hotels.com & got a good deal ($150). Turns out - bait & switch! - to get a room like the one I had BOOKED I had to pay an additional $238 and still I did not get what I had booked as advertised. The room was HORRIBLE! Decrepit, old furniture, windows didn’t work, shades didn’t work, no fireplace as advertised, no dining table as advertised, kitchen minuscule & funky. Perhaps the worst part is the lack of ADA compliance: no handrails on the stairs to enter the room. I am reporting to ADA. My partner is handicapped & almost fell twice. The walls are paper thin so get ready to listen to your neighbors. There is a fire pit in the center of the yard where loud partiers went late into the night. The guy at the front desk was rude, dismissive & responded to complaints with, “that’s your problem!” He spoke mockingly in a foreign language to another guy behind the desk & they looked at us & laughed. Clearly they have no respect for their guests - maybe just women? We booked 3 nights but on the third night we had to move as this “special “ room they gave us was booked. They moved us into a tiny room w/half closet & barely room to walk around the beds. Mind you, I had called the week before arrival & confirmed amenities as booked. The desk guy said he didn’t know anything about that. Hotels.com was unable to do ANYTHING. They said they called the hotel & couldn’t get any refund b/c we had actually stayed there, that we should have left asap when things went bad. We had driven 5 hours to get there, arrived late in day…where were we supposed to go? Never again!!
