Wonderful, fun stay…. Really unique property with a stunning 50’s Cadillac in the lobby that sets the theme….nice rooms, big gym and great back area with pool + games for kids. Great energy in the space. We were lucky enough to have Lucas & D’Andrew explain us all the points of the property and add that extra touch of service that made the stay stand out. Definitely recommend….
I'd love to write a stellar review for Hotel Paseo, unfortunately, my experience with the hotel has been anything but. I waited to write this review to allow Marriot and Hotel Paseo time to make this situation right but their lack of communication and effort speaks for itself. I feel obligated to share our experience, or lack thereof, with Hotel Paseo. My husband and I flew from Oregon to Palm Springs for a quick 2-night getaway on January 31st. After 9 hours of travel, we arrived at Hotel Paseo eager to check in and grab some dinner at the Larkspur Grill. We tipped and handed our rental off to the valet and approached the (empty) front desk. After waiting a couple of minutes, a lady appeared and asked for ID and reservation information. She picked through a couple of room cards in a box on her desk and then curtly said "I don't have a reservation for you" I pulled up our reservation confirmation and all pertinent details but she said "I don't see your reservation and we are completely booked" As one may imagine, it's quite distressing to hear your reservation doesn't exist at 8:00 o'clock at night after a long day of travel. Moreover, the staff could not have appeared more unempathetic to our plight. There were prolonged stretches of silence from the front desk clerks while my husband and I desperately tried to figure out where the mix-up was. They offered ineffective and insincere platitudes by telling us "you're the 3fd person this has happened to today" and "Sorry, there's a soccer team in town and we have every room in the building booked" (that information would magically change the following day, however!) Eventually, Hotel Paseo's only resolution was to move us to their older, lower-quality sister property "Hotel Rennaissance" another town over. They neglected to tell us that they only put us up at the Hotel Rennaissance for one night (even though our reservation was for 2 nights and we were informed Hotel Paseo was sold out for both nights of our reservation) which only served further to prolong the confusion and stressful nature of this situation. The following day, after 3 attempts to call the hotel directly, I finally connected with Devon McGowan, the hotel's reservation director, around noon. This is when she told me she had rooms she keeps “in her back pocket” for situations such as this. The night before we were repeatedly told there were absolutely no rooms for the 2 nights we booked and they was nothing they could do. Yet 12 hours later there are rooms kept in management's back pocket? I asked the front desk multiple times if they had *any* type of room available and at that point, we were willing to pay whatever amount, and they told me point blank there was nothing and would be nothing. After already wasting the first half of our trip to resolve this, it was so disappointing to hear there were indeed rooms available. At this point, we had an event we had to be at in a couple of hours and didn't have time to pack up at hotel renaissance and travel back to Hotel Paseo, check in, and still be on time for our event. Had the hotel been in contact with us earlier or offered us one of their "back pocket" rooms the night before, we would have had time to make the move. We were so disappointed! For this inconvenience that was wholly out of control, Hotel Paseo has done nothing in the way of follow-up and has refused to take action to make this right. We spent half of our trip or 2-day trip trying to resolve this and every effort to do so was made on our end, not on the hotels. I've tried to follow up with Devon McGowan multiple times as well and she simply refuses to respond. In the end, we were informed the Hotel provided the wrong reservation email to Costco (where we made our reservation) and thus, never received our hotel reservation information. For this clerical error that had absolutely nothing to do with us and was wholly on the Hotel's shoulders, we were awarded a downgraded stay at a lower-caliber resort and placed in a room with cobwebs and what appeared to be a yellow, dried, vomit stain on the side of the bed. We weren't so much offered a mere dining credit for our ruined vacation that we worked so hard to save up for. We left having not been able to experience Hotel Paseo or Larkspur Grill and with no inkling that Hotel Paseo will do anything further to right this wrong. I highly recommend looking for a hotel that seeks to serve and take care of its guest and owns up to mistakes when they're made. Not one that shakes them off to another property and hopes the issue disappears.…
Great hotel - has everything you need and more. Great pool, amazing location close to everything, and lovely lobby with a new daily surprise of flavoured water (I was obsessed with the watermelon one! Delicious!) Valets were incredibly friendly and efficient, though there are few reasons to drive off site other than for excursions. Just a bummer about the resort fee. Seems unnecessary and puts a damper on the experience.
Nice room and bathroom. The staff welcoming and helpful. The restaurant with delicious food both breakfast and dinner. Only strange that it is not open for breakfast on Mondays so we had to go across the street to a shopping centre for breakfast.
This is probably one of the best hotel experiences I have had in a long time. The property is located in a great area to visit the shops of El Paseo, Parking on the street was easy and there is a garage across the street if parking were to get busy. The hotel is beautiful and was decorated for Christmas. Rooms, pool and main hotel areas are nice, but it is the staff that was amazing. I don't think we ran into a single person that wasn't helpful or friendly. The staff here is amazing. Would stay here again and recommend anyone to stay here if you are wanting to be in the Palm Desert area.
Hotel Paseo is situated perfectly off El Paseo. Restaurants were a short walk away and the staff at the hotel were friendly, professional and ready to assist. Our room was very nice and the grounds were well maintained. The only drawback and one that prevented me from giving a 5 star rating was the lack of a restaurant/bar. The hotel's restaurant is not open Mondays or Tuesdays. It would have been convenient to have been able to visit the bar for a nightcap. We did eat there on Sunday evening and the food was good. However, a hotel that bills itself as part of Marroit's luxury collection needs a bar/eatery that's open daily.
Not sure about this place... A 'boutique' hotel - should be called a 'clique' hotel, as it seemed that the only ones that received any attention were part of a 'special event'. $500/night and we couldn't even use the pool. Total BS. I complained to some guy and a lady - Devin (sp??) said that she 'overheard what I said' and asked for my room number and told me that she would 'see what she could do'. Well, she did nothing. No adjustment to our bill, no apology. Sorry to say that we will not be visiting again.
As soon as we arrived to hotel paseo we were greeted by a young gentleman by the name of jerry he was very helpful in helping us get our bags to our room and a very pleasant person to talk too. Coming back to this location again !!
This is my second visit. It’s such a cute hotel with a mid-century vibe. There is a classic car parked in the lobby, morning yoga outside, and table tennis. The hotel has a shiny clean feeling. Rooms are have a little balcony, big bathroom and clean, comfy bed. The location is the best— 1/2 a block to shops and restaurants on El Paseo. Only thing is that the hotel seems a bit under-staffed, but that’s everywhere.
We found this amazing hotel after having a terrible air bnb experience & we were not disappointed. We got some well needed sleep, best robes ever!!! Comfortable beds!!!! Amazing staff. Thank you from bottom of our hearts for restoring our stay in Palm Desert 🌴
