LOVE love this place! Classy elegant retro & just fabulous. Guests can be noisy at the pool--just depends on the crowd. Let's put it this way, it always depends on the weekend, crowd, event, etc just like everywhere else I suppose. The room decor is Fab & restaurant has great food.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and loved every moment of our visit. The hotel oozes Spanish/Moroccon style and charm, with cobblestone paths, tucked away lounging nooks, red-tiled roofs and balconies. The grounds are lovely with jasmine and gardenia, which attract lots of hummingbirds. The pool was sparkling and just the right temp. There were plenty of...

We stayed in this hotel in two occasions, both times for one night. The first we changed rooms three times before we had a room that didn't have a funny smell. The first one smelled rather mouldy the second had a strong bleach smell. The room we ended up in was very nice though, the people at reception very patient...

We really liked this hotel. It was small and the gardens and pool were awesome. It was older but it had been refurbished so the age just made it cozy. I liked the almost-Moroccan design aesthetic, which added warmth to the decor. Our room was set on a little flagstone path a little away from the main areas, which I...

We had a fantastic stay at Colony. The rooms are clean and well equipped, the grounds are immaculate, and the staff is friendly. The hotel has a great vibe and it feels as if you're in your own world. The Purple Palm, their restaurant, is fantastic--we ate lunch there every day during our stay. The staff is attentive and routinely...

Dear Andreworth, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I am happy to hear you enjoyed the rooms, restaurant, grounds and great service. Unfortunately, Palm Springs recently experienced a windstorm which has impacted our pool cleanliness, we have been working to bring it back our standards. But thank you for letting us know, we will double our...

The property is beautiful. The valet was super nice and accomodating as well as the front desk. We did encounter a problem during our visit with the room keys which was not handled successfully. The person at the front desk at the time was nice but gave us two more key cards which still did not work. It required the...

we booked a Junior Suite because we like to have a place to sit and relax. Well there is only one chair so I guess we have to take turns. We arrived yesterday after a long trip. We went to the restaurant (the only restaurant on the hotel)and although was half empty they said that we have to wait 30...

People clearly like this place, so I'm not here to bash it in anyway. Just to say that while it was very nice, clean, had good food, and the pool was great, this hotel was nowhere near worth the $600+ a night that they charged. If you're looking for a unique luxury experience I would look elsewhere and keep this...

The hotel has a great vibe--timeless chic, classic, and comfortable. Quiet, mostly adults, great pool and restaurant. Dogs are welcome and appreciated by the awesome staff! On one weekend trip we were quite happy having never left the property!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Originally built in 1936 by reputed Purple Gang Mobster Al Wertheimer, the Colony Palms Hotel was once a saloon, speakeasy and gambling house that later became a playground for Hollywood ICONS including Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin & Rita Hayworth. Colony Palms Hotel has maintained its nobility as a stunning four-star boutique hotel spread out over a three acre property. The rooms promise subtle sophistication with brilliantly colored mosaic tiles and fabrics, rich woods, and suzani headboards. Many have fireplaces and claw-foot bathtubs. Mature gardens throughout the property provide privacy, and intimate outdoor spaces, and the rooms open to the a central courtyard with pool. The hotel’s restaurant, the Purple Palm boasts exquisite cuisine and a stunning view of both the pool and San Jacinto Mountains. The newly redesigned Spa offers a serene atmosphere and top of the line treatments. Colony Palms Hotel also plays host to a variety of stunning weddings and events, with the option of utilizing a newly refreshed private event space or a full property buyout for a truly intimate celebration. Colony Palms Hotel is a mix of modern luxuries with a dash of romance and tranquil getaway. ... more   less
