We were looking for a basic hotel, arriving later than expected and leaving by 9am. We saw some reviews that were worrisome but can report that our room, room 205, was fine and really very nice. It exceeded our expectations based on what we read. The room was renovated recently. The bathroom had a heavy door, nice sink, large shower and the soaps provided were Beekman 1802 which are a nice quality from a small town in upstate NY that we have enjoyed in the past. Being from upstate NY, this stood out to us while here in CA. The room was plenty big and had a comfy bed, and a small balcony that allowed us to open the door. When we checked in, the hotel staff made a point of talking about keeping the balcony door closed, and now we realized that it was like a European door where it locks with the handle upward and that’s different here and probably results in doors left unlocked. The hotel staff member was a bit curt when checking in. We needed dinner so he sent us to Rustic Fire because it was late, around 8:30. Most places close at 9pm in CA unlike on the east coast. We had a great pizza and drinks and the staff there were very nice. Based on our room we were surprised more people were not there but we don’t know what the other rooms look like. I’m sure they would prefer one to pay in cash. They asked about this and this puts one on edge like what’s going on here.

Pros: ok location, close to amenities.Rooms clean, mattress/bed very comfortable, bathroom toiletries very nice. Cons: - noisy if you’re near the front office/traffic noise. Coffee machines work ok, powdered stuff. I found this out before so brought own supplies. So a bit pricey for lack of amenities. Outdoor patio over main road-no umbrella over tables, cheap, noisy. Worse: the front desk staff- talk about first impressions! Don’t know where to start. Abrupt, no greeting, on arrival, lied to us about the location of the room as I requested a quiet room away from the front desk, and he said yes it is you won’t hear anything, totally the opposite, wanted to go back and request a different room but was so astounded at his demeanor We didn’t. Given mis-information from him too. Argued with me on the phone when I asked for the room to be cleaned, stated I was suppose to call by 9am, not what we were told when we checked in. Downright rude is all I can say. We have never encountered a place with such rude staff, I hope their manager reads this. Will never recommend it or stay there again. Only reason I gave it 3 *was the bed was comfortable/clean room/ the maids were pleasant and accommodating.

Nicely done small hotel! If you're tall, the shower head is mounted at about 7" - something rarely seen. Walking distance to some cool spots and not too close to freeway. Everything was nice and new and we felt right at home. A great deal for the price.

This is a best kept secret hotel, this hotel quality ranks up near the top of any other hotel. I would stay there again without hesitation. It is central location in Paso Robles. The staff is very friendly and willingness to help you at all times. Thanks for the best experience away from home.

Everything was remodeled and felt very modern. There wasn’t a lobby, business center or working fitness center. No breakfast, pets or pool but otherwise had everything you could need from a hotel. Rooms equipped with mini fridge, microwave, hairdryer and Keurig. The TV was a large flat screen with as many channels as you’d need. The bed was extremely comfortable, controllable thermostat worked well and towels were plush. Second floor rooms had a balcony and there was a rooftop deck with tables and chairs. Being a small female, it felt very safe traveling solo. The guest services were friendly and accommodated all my special requests. I’d stay here again on business, the prices were very reasonable and conveniently located to several restaurants.

A newer motel on the outskirts of downtown - it’s about a 20 minute walk to get there. Room was comfortable and spacious for a king size room. Saw the queens and they looked tighter. We appreciated the front desk staff.

A quick list of pros and cons from our recent one-night stay. Cons: - No staff available between 10 PM and 7 AM. If there is an emergency, you are on your own. They make this clear at check in, but I wanted to note this as some folks may feel safer knowing there is an employee on site. I know this would be a deal breaker for me if I had been traveling alone. - There is a vet/dog kennel next door. Dogs barked throughout the day and started up quite early. If your room faces the kennel, you WILL hear the dogs. - Some rooms open to the exterior, upstairs rooms open to the interior hallway, however there is free access to the vestibule and elevator to get to the second floor. No locks or room key needed from exterior. Every other place I have stayed you have needed to swipe your card to access interior hallways/areas. - No breakfast ... I find that many of this level of hotel will have a complimentary breakfast option. - Walls are thin/sound carries ... we heard quite a bit of noise from the adjoining room. Pros: - close to freeway and downtown - Rooms were recently renovated and were modern and very clean - shampoo, soap, etc are in wall mounted dispensers and provided bulk. I appreciate this sustainable touch. - Room had mini fridge and microwave - Easy parking and parking lot is well lit.

Thermostat wobbly attached to the wall. Impossible to control temperature or fan speed. So noisy that we needed to shut it off despite temperatures around 50 outside. Desk manager scoffed at request for discount - “if you had told yesterday, we could have given you another room, now it’s too late”. Upon arrival the evening manager asked for a good review. Sorry. Can’t comply.

We stayed here for one night , it's just off the 101 and close to everything in downtown Robles, you can either walk or a short Uber ride to wherever you need to go. Not sure if this is a fairly new hotel or recently renovated but the rooms are spacious with all the modern amenities. Beds and pillow very comfortable. Check in was fast and easy but the desk is not manned after 10 PM and when we left at 6:30 the door was closed as well and no drop box for the room keys outside. Apparently working on adding a continental breakfast in the new year.

I accidentally left my wallet in the room which contained my room keys. I went to the office after realizing this and the door was locked and absolutely no after hours emergency contact phone number. I'm sitting in my car on a cold rainy night at 12:30 in the morning and I'm starving to death which was where I was going and I had to spend $165 on a room and his sleep in a cold wet car because there's no help getting a key and I know I'm not the only one that this has happened to. it advertises 24-hour desk service and it's eli. I am never seen such an unprofessional manner in which to run a motel. I have never ever seen a motel have absolutely no customer service if their office actually has a closing time.
