Guests admire the spacious, luxurious rooms and the meticulously maintained grounds, which contribute to the resort's tranquil ambiance. Second trip here and we were more impressed this time than a year ago. Every attention to detail has been made by the hotelier, Doug Ayers of the Ayers Hotel group. Allegretto will transform you from California to a villa in Tuscany without ever boarding a plane! The rooms are good but the grounds are fantastic! From the original artwork to the meditating gardens, you will not be disappointed at all! The staff is very attentive and can help with any wine tasting arrangements/tours you might like. Cello, the restaurant is very good although the bar service was a little slow this trip but considering masks and gloves, it was good! As for COVID-19, the are on top of things! Masks are required (as throughout Paso). You will NOT go wrong staying here, great weekday rates, weekends require the Platinum card.

Not a lot to do for kids, great romantic place for couples.
Good gym!
Courtyard has several fire pits!

Allegretto is lovely, with exquisite details and art throughout the property, but a few issues marred our visit and knocked down our rating from five stars to four. We somehow had the impression the property was off by itself, among the vineyards, but in reality it’s off 46 (in a convenient, but not isolated, location). We stayed in room #202 (pleasant room with double queens and parking lit view); we weren’t told the room lighting was European style, meaning you need to insert your card in a switch by the door to access lighting. So we struggled turning on lights before realizing what needed to happen. And it wasn’t til after we unpacked we realized that the barn-style bathroom door wasn’t hung properly and had a 1” gap around the sides - leaving a clear sight line from toilet to TV. Needless to say, it was a bit distressing not to have complete bathroom privacy. The room itself was well appointed and had thoughtful touches, such as an empty mini fridge and magnifying mirror in bathroom. We enjoyed the hotel restaurant twice but found the slow service didn’t justify the premium price. The bar, however, was a different story: Service was attentive and drinks fabulous. All in all, an enjoyable but not perfect stay.

We stopped at Allegretto on our way back from Los Angels to our home in Bay Area. I had booked a Balcony King and was offered an upgrade to a one bedroom suite for a nominal up charge. We love it so much we extended our stay from one night to six! We are here during the pandemic so we’ve mostly just ordered room service everyday and have received great service from the restaurant staff. We have enjoyed a lovely view from our balcony and walking around the vineyard in the evenings under the full moon. The little chapel is beautiful and peaceful. This has been a lovely place to rest for a few days and we have felt safe.

Rebecca at the front desk was especially helpful and jolly. Also, since during Covid times our rooms aren’t being cleaned each day, I’ve had to ask the housekeeper to exchanged towels and provide me with more toiletries, and the woman who has helped me has also been super sweet. I believe her name is Carmen. Looking forward to coming back here again next time we in Paso Robles.

We were very excited to stay at the resort during Valentine's weekend. My impression was that it was secluded within the winery vineyard but it is just on the street right off the freeway. The art is beautiful but the property was lacking some upkeep outside, bare gravel in places, plants not tended, etc...The room was large but had some very odd design decisions. There was an armoire to hang clothes but no drawers to put clothing, not even in the bedside table. The barn style door on bathroom lacked privacy, and they placed a mirror in such a way that it is right in front of the toilet, so while seated you see yourself which I have never seen before. Furniture style, bedding, drapery were not up to par with resort they felt more like an outdated Marriott.

The dishonest part of the stay was very upsetting and has never happened at any hotel/resort we have stayed at. We ordered two glasses of white wine at Happy Hour at the bar upon arrival. We were told they were out of the Chardonnay we ordered but were serving another wine in its place. When we got the bill they charged us $2 more per glass which was odd. If you are out of one wine restaurants pick a substitution and inform the guest but you don't charge more. We paid and left thinking it was just a one time error.

The next night we went to eat for Happy Hour and sat at a table. I tried to order the Happy Hour white wine and was told they were out. I tried to order the Happy Hour red wine and they said they were out. I asked to order whatever white wine they were serving that evening at the price point listed for Happy Hour on the menu. The server went to research and came back and told me the wine. When we received the bill I was charged $14 for wine that should have been $5. I asked to speak to a supervisor who apologized for the upcharge on our bill from both evenings and comped the wine. I paid our bill and left.

After checking out I noticed the bill charge for the restaurant was off. I called and spoke to a manager and found out that after I had signed the bill and left it on the table the server had reopened our bill, changed my husband's Happy Hour beer charge from $4 to $8 and closed out the check. I have never experienced such shady behavior by a hotel. The fact that more than one employee behaved like this makes me believe the hotel is trying to upcharge guests as a practice. The altering of a bill after a guest leaves is another level that astounds me.

I would not stay here again, it was not a nice experience and now I don't trust the establishment.

Did NOT enjoy my stay here. Terrace rooms, it turns out, face a noisy courtyard where people are drinking, talking, laughing until all hours. Especially avoid a courtyard room around the 170s - people are drinking in the outdoor wine bar literally outside your window, and trust me, they are not quiet about it and the windows don’t block the sound. Doors to hallways are also thin, so anyone chatting along the hall sounds like they are in your room. When others slam their doors your walls shake, and footsteps above you are omnipresent. Floors are cold hardwood, lots of fake Italian sculpture etc. it all feels very institutional, like a fancy rest home in New Jersey. I have stayed around the world, and cannot fathom why anyone thinks this is a great hotel, unless they really don’t get out much.
I also understand COVID means some amenities are not available, but the card given with your key specifies hours for the restaurants and bar. All turn out to be wrong, everything closes earlier than stated, which leaves you really high and dry, since you are in the middle of nowhere.

As to food: perhaps their restaurants are better, but room service was laughably bad - salad came not as requested (please hold the croutons, I am gluten intolerant. Oops, that was a lot of picking things out of my meal) and the soda was flat. Asked if they could possibly send another and a kid arrived with another soda he warned was also flat, shrugging “I guess the machine just isn’t working.”

If this were a Motel Six I wouldn’t expect much, but come on. If you have to be in this area, I would urge you to stay next door at the La Quinta, get an executive room, which is huge and super quiet (and they even throw in breakfast.) It will be a fraction the cost and you will get a better night’s sleep.

Cannot understand how this hotel can get less than a 5 star review. This hotel is artfully decorated, staff is super accommodating, location is convenient to town and wineries. The rooms are spacious and the beds are super comfortable. If eating breakfast here, be sure to ask for Sara - delightful young lady

The facilities and staff are quite excellent. (A caution - be certain you booked the proper room with amenities you desire. Their online booking implies a patio but that is not what we got. At least they fixed it for us but keep your confirmation paperwork) Rooms are large and the bath is one of the better baths in a resort in our experience. There is an in-room fridge and safe. The towels are thick and luxurious.
Room service is quick but the menu is limited, especially for a resort setting. This probably is because the restaurant (Cello) menu is also limited.
Pool is nice though not large. The outdoor atmosphere is quite Zen feeling.
Overall a bit pricey for what is available.

This was our third stay at Allegretto, and unexpected. We needed to evacuate from our home in Felton due to the CZU fire in August and called to see if there was a pet-friendly room available at Allegretto. They actually had a pet-friendly Suite! We had to extend our reservation multiple times, eventually staying for 12 days, and the staff was extremely understanding, easy to work with, and even gave us a special rate to help with the cost. Luzia was the most incredible person, helping us to feel welcome and like we were no trouble at all (when I'm sure we were just the opposite).

The resort is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, everything works, the towels are exceptionally soft, the restaurant is a relaxing place to enjoy terrific food and drink, the staff courteous, friendly and good at their jobs. Even the room service menu included a variety of delicious options.

Neville, our 14 month old Newfoundland Dog had a marvelous time, too, enjoying the other guests, the grounds, and the staff. He misses the friends he made while we were there. We'll be back in the future for an actual vacation!

I had heard about the hotel, but we always stayed on the west side of Highway 101 where all of our wine clubs are located, until our Ferrari Club planned a trip to the Allegretto, and so we gave it a try on our own semi-annual wine trip. We could not have been more impressed with the quality of the facility and the entire staff. We explored the quiet outside areas and even inside, each corner seems to have something special to discover. We were walking a meditation labyrinth and gardeners on the other side of a hedge did not start their power tools in the middle of the afternoon, until we left the area. Only on our departure did we have the pleasure of meeting General Manager Richard Verruni, who greeted as as if we were his best customers. Restaurant on site is nice without being stuffy and the general location of the twenty acre facility is actually convenient when coming from other areas. Price to value ratio is excellent and we will absolutely stay here on every Paso Robles trip.

We got an awesome deal staying at the Allegretto on a Sunday through Tuesday in order to take advantage of the nearby mineral springs at River Oaks Spa. It was our first time here and it took a while to take in the aesthetic which is extremely eclectic, but after watching the video tour we realized that this is the personal vision of Doug Ayers and his enthusiasm whetted our appetite to explore the grounds which are full of delightful surprises and beauty. The room itself was lovely and comfortable, The bed was fabulous and I am a very picky sleeper! The staff were professional and friendly, And we had an excellent meal at Cello. We look forward to coming back and spending more time in the gardens than we did this visit. Definitely give yourself time to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine.
