We go up to Pismo often and have stayed at several different hotels in the area. Vespera is probably the nicest hotel there, but while they charge a fortune for their rooms, it's just not worth it. Trash cans are overflowing, there aren't enough valets and bellmen, the carpet throughout the hotel has stains, and there is litter in the stairwells. With a little more attention to detail, this hotel could be great. Best location and nicely decorated, there is lots to love about Vespera.

This hotel is a gem in the midst of very busy Pismo Beach. We were here for one night during college visit tour, but our experience was in line with our expectations. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, the lobby area was super cute, and the room was more than comfortable. Our view was less than ideal and there were no upgrades available as a higher tier member (not super surprised since it is height of summer travel). We had cocktail and desserts in the hotel restaurant, and both were great.

Upon calling to confirm my reservation I found that it was made incorrectly with Marriott Reservations. I had the good fortune to speak with George who works at the hotel and he took the time to correct the multiple mistakes with a most kind and professional manner. George went above and beyond to ensure everything was correct. I am hoping that Marriott Corporate will recognize George as an exemplary employee and ensure all of their reservations personal emulate his expertise.

We just finished a four day family trip, staying in the "top of the line" Pacific Suite for a cost of over $1,500/night plus $35 per night resort fee plus $45 per night valet parking fee plus $150 pet fee plus taxes. Really the only positive things I can say are: 1) the location can't be beat; 2) they will accept pets; and 3) the suite was large and clean. Before I get to the negatives, I want to note that I called out the cost above for context - we have stayed at some of the nicest places around (San Ysidro Ranch, Calistoga Ranch, Four Seasons Santa Barbara, Meadowood, Auberge du Soleil, Carneros Inn, etc.) for equal to or less than these prices. As such, my expectations were high. Negatives: 1) The first thing you deal with is the valet parking. They designed the driveway to accomodate two cars. If there are two cars unloading in front of you, you wait, and wait, and wait, until there is room for you to pull into the driveway. 2) After checking-in (which I will admit was painless, although they could never get the keyless entry (via iPhone) to work, you are greeted with one of two elevators out of service. This appears to be a permanent issue as we were there for the entire week and no one was working on repairing the elevator. 3) When you get off the elevator you will be accosted by either the smell of smoke from a wood-burning device (fireplaces? pizza oven in the kitchen? I don't know) or the smell of weed being smoked in the rooms. 4) As you exit the elevator on the 3rd floor you are greeted with a sign saying the filtered water dispenser (for which you can pay $5 for a container to fill) is out of order and you should go to the second floor for water. Again, we were there for a week - no repair person in sight. 5) As you walk down the hall to your room you will encounter microwave ovens strewn about the hallway. They generally sat there for most of the day and disappeared sometime during the night. 6) While the hotel is relatively new, the rooms and furnishings are already shabby. The furnishings were not even Cort quality - the couches had plain foam rubber cushions that were well worn. The table tops were stained as was the carpeting. The bathroom sinks were clogged. 7) Our "Ocean View" was laughable (see photo). Our view was mostly the roof of the second floor. 8)The $35 resort fee for internet, Pismo shuttle, and other amenities? Well internet is free for Bonvoy members anyway, we were not made aware of any "shuttle", and there were no other amenities. 9) Food service at the outside patio doesn't exist. After sitting at a table outside (there is no host), finding napkins and wiping off the food and drink from the table, then waiting for 20 minutes for someone to approach us, we sent one of our party inside to the bar to inquire what the deal was. We were told that there was no one outside to take orders and we were supposed to order our food from the bar. Apparently we are expected to be mind-readers as well. When we did receive our food it was ok. Vespera is an ok three-star facility with a great central location. However, we won't be staying again.

Wonderful stay ! Beautiful place, very clean, great location... amazing overall vibe for a beach front property. Most important aspect for us - for a family trip - was indeed SERVICE. Since we arrived at the front desk, registration was very easy and extremely kind.... A special thanks to David , General Manager, for his kindness and service... He went above any possibilities to arrange a special room for us to have our Sabbath dinner, always to attentive with all his personnel including Josh, who helped us a lot as well... Everyone was looking after us making us feel at home.. THANK YOU

The rooms, tasteful, The location is the best. The bar/restaurant......woeful. It started with Christopher telling me they don't have a table for me for at least 20 minutes as I look at a mostly empty restaurant. I asked if it was because of being short staffed, he said yes. I said I'm happy to sit at a table and wait as opposed to standing at a host stand like a goofball. He then asked for my last name. I said,"what?" "Your last name, I need your last name." I came to Pismo beach to get away and not be seen or noticed. I wish to remain anonymous. Like hell I was going to give the host of a restaurant my last name. In fact, it shouldn't be necessary to give a name at all to be allowed to eat in your establishment. He continued on the way to the table, saying, "most people give their last name without a problem." I sat and waited to a waitress to be free to give me a menu and some water. When no water showed up, I got up to the staff/bus station and refilled it. Twice. Finally she came around and asked what I wanted to eat. "I don't know, a menu would guide me to your options." "The host was supposed to give you that." I was told. I ordered churros with mole' sauce and a poached egg. It arrived and the waitress left. How is your breakfast? Oh, I see you haven't touched it. Is it OK? Could I have a fork?? It wasn't OK, the Mole' was bland, no cocoa notes, no complex peppers, just strangely bland. I realized nothing was going to make my experience better so I just ate it and tried to pay my bill. She dropped it off then after 20 minutes, I got up and asked if anyone could run my card. I get it, probably 80% are either titanium members and get comped breakfast, and the other 20% bill to their room. We didn't even know this was a Marriott property so none of that mattered. This was a special treat from my girlfriend who is not titanium and just because I am, this was her treat to me so I didn't force my influence. I also understand that everyone is short staffed, to be more patient and allow mistakes. On the other hand, if service is this bad (and the food) maybe don't be open.

Beautiful property, can’t beat the location. Comfortable room and gorgeous bathrooms and common areas. What is that air freshener smell? It’s sooooo good. However, I have stayed here probably 15 times and my bill is almost always incorrect. I advise you always check out in person and if you are a Marriott Bonvoy member make sure you receive your points and elite night credit. I was told at check out that “the hotel does not award any points and it can only be done through Marriott customer service”. Seems strange but when it’s worth the hassle I’ll do it. Also the restaurant is hit or miss….ask your server for recommendations and have a tolerance for your order being incorrect. I travel frequently to the area and I think I’ll be giving Vespera a break from me while hopefully they figure out their accounting issues.

We stayed here last night on our PCH trip last night. it is right on Pismo beach on the left side of the pier. It was full of families with kids and almost had a universal or Disney vibe to it. It has valet parking, 45 bucks I think. it’s a relatively small place that looks like it’s been recently redone. the room was fine staff was nice, the view of the beach would have been great but we had fog the whole time. They give you taffy as a bed mint. shampoos etc were good. Water pressure was ok, beds were good but not luxurious. They have fire pits all over the back and it’s connected to the boardwalk and just a 100 yards or two from the pier. The breakfast is not worth messing with. It’s a good Choice for Pismo beach area.

My husband and I celebrated part of our babymoon at this property. It was our first time to Pismo Beach, and we loved the location. The hotel had nice amenities, and was right on the beach, also within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. We appreciated the ocean front view, attention to detail from the staff, and cleanliness of the property. It would have been nice if the hotel offered more grab and go items for breakfast, and lunch. Overall a great stay, and picturesque location.
