We stayed here on our road trip from San Francisco to LA, so only had an overnighter...big mistake. The hotel is just lovely, rooms were spotless and the pool and hot tub a great addition. Best however are the firepits overlooking the sea. We sat round one with a beer watching the pelicans that hang out on the cliff side swooping for fish. Had we known how great it was we would definately have had at least one more night. Highly recommend this place
The rooms are very clean and the pool and spa are clean and nice. There is a nice area to sit and overlook the ocean with firepit and various kinds of chairs. There is a nearby walkway and stairs to the beach.
Cottage Inn had some of the best service and all the staff were great! From the awesome coastal views to the availability of the staff to help out. Pool was great as well as the location. I’ve been there before and will be back again.
The location is fantastic and we had a room with ocean view so that was fantastic, unfortunately our 1 night stay is when it decided to rain in California, being English the weather wasn’t a problem, but the architect of the hotel forgot to include gutters and down pipes so a constant waterfall could be heard at both back and front door, the wife was moaning about Yosemite Falls not flowing on our visit so this mini version made up for it a little. Oh.. and the guest in the room above must have been doing some kind of walk for charity in there room as they were constantly walking (stomping) around there room. If I find there just giving page I’ll send a £.
We stayed for one night. Positives: very pleasant lady on Reception, spectacular views and proximity to beach, small clean pool and jacuzzi, lovely outdoor seating area with fire pits overlooking the beach. Concerns: tired room, safe didn't work. lightbulb out in one of main lights, disgusting bath, shabby carpet - difficult to tell if it was clean or not, old, dirty blinds with dirty cord pulls, un-pressed ill fitting valences on beds, un-pressed pillow cases/bedding, noise from busy road, no where near worth the cost.
Cottage Inn was a great place to stay. Our room was #422 on the 2nd level and had great ocean views! The hotel has great beach access, great ocean views from the garden, great access to the pool and Jacuzzi, walking distance from some restaurants and even FREE PARKING!!! The only thing is that the rooms have no AC, but one can ask for a fan from the front desk and leave a window or 2 open for a nice breeze from the ocean at least from the room we stood in. There are fire pits with seats around it too and chairs and tables out on the garden with great ocean views!!! First come first serve rule for tables, fire pits and seats but there are plenty. The employees there are very helpful, all one has to do is ask. Very friendly. This location is close to some good areas like: the Monarch Butterfly Grove, Dinosaur Park, wineries like Laetitia, restaurants, the Oceana Dunes, Downtown and the Pier. All around 10 minutes or less except Laetitia Winery which may be around 20 min. Over all it's a great place to stay and not too pricey! …
3- No AC and windows are locked to only open 4 inches. Not even outside air ventilation. Of course we got booked the worst place but for 60 dollars more got a peak at a ocean view. Parking was easy. Location is amazing. No breakfast available either.
First experiencing the room with nothing, but heat and no way to fix it because there is no air conditioning is never a good way to start off your experience and no way to really solve the issue except opening windows. After some time it cooled down, but we did not stay during that time for it to cool down, it still felt warm during the stay, and ultimately bought a fan to help deal with how warm it was.
The room smelled horrible, in my opinion for the price of the room, it should not have smelled of wet dog and mold. but we loved the access to the beach! The staff were friendly. I wish there would have been breakfast available.
The Inn is very charming with amenities including a pool, hot tub and gas fire pits. The view of the ocean from the cliff top is spectacular, with whales surfacing and abundant bird life. The walk down the steps to the beach was worth it for the dramatic cliff colours and it was also worth the hike to the pier. We wished we could stay longer.
