I wish I could give this hotel 5 stars – their design aesthetic is really tasteful – the italian plaster walls were gorgeous, landscaping, twinkling lights fill the olive orchard at night, room furnishings are handsome, and I was blown away that the sheets and towels are FRETTE. The bed was comfortable, the breakfast featured fresh berries from a local orchard,... More

I am so pleased that we didn't stay in Monterey. This is a great town with so much history and geological significance. A very clean and functional room, good breakfast (continental style, served outside if the weather is nice) and friendly staff. An easy drive back into Monterey as you're right on the freeway.

I was pleasantly pleased when my husband and I checked into the Hacienda de Leal. The Hacienda has been redone with a nice clean modern-ish aesthetic. The checkin was a breeze- the front desk staff was very accommodating - offering us early check in so we could get to an afternoon wedding. We went to our second floor room and... More

My husband and I had never been to San Juan Bautista - it was a last minute get away for our anniversary. We pulled up and weren't too sure about the place, but once walking into the lobby to check in, it was a different world from the outdoors......the wood was burning in the courtyard's chimney and it brought back... This place is a jewel! Can't imagine better accomodations for a stopover in San Juan Bautista. The rooms are spacious and very well appointed, with comfortable beds and great showers. The grounds are planted with grape vines and lovely trees, with lots of places to sit and appreciate the surroundings. Check in was friendly and helpful, and requests for wine... More

Our friends' wedding was at the Leal Winery, and this renovated hotel is run by the same family. The two properties are about 20 minutes apart, the winery being outside of Hollister. There was a shuttle bus provided between the two properties, but I don't know if that runs regularly, or if it was part of our friends' wedding package.... More

There has been a lot of tender loving care in what has been done to the old San Juan Inn. The rooms a very large but a bit dark. All the rooms face the court yard which is nice if you are with a group and want to get together. The breakfast / conference room is very nice but a... More

We booked a room here last Saturday as our nephew was getting married at the nearby Leal Winery. Despite the rather negative first view, this hotel is lovely!! It is a bit overpriced for the area, but the management was so welcoming, the room was clean and new, the courtyard was beautiful (especially at night with all the lights), and... More

This hotel reminds me of the Chardonnay Inn, in Napa: great photos, but a big disappointment. At over $200 per night, with no pool, hot tub, bar, and on the highway, this place is way overpriced. And you have to drive into town, which defeats the purpose of going there. Very cute, fun town with lots of local flavor. Next... More

Room was large. Lighten poor for evening reading. Breakfast was okay, but had to ask for hot egg to be delivered from kitchen to breakfast area. Staff was friendly. It was not worth $200.00 a night, unless you are staying in San Juan for a specific purpose like touring the Mission. We will go to Carmel or Monterey next trip.
