My husband and I stayed there in August, 2022 and were not happy campers. It was a special occasion so we splurged for a suite on the basis of the one photo of such rooms that was on the website. Well the room was quite inferior to that room, in terms of patio space, windows/views, and furnishings. We asked for a change to the room we had thought we were getting and got dismissive “service.” Both full days that we were there our room did not get attended to replace the coffee and towels, so we had to go to the desk and ask for what we needed. The staff at the desk were very nice and comped us drinks at the nice rooftop bar and a bottle of wine. They explained that they were short staffed. That is understandable but the hotel should simply put a note in the room saying that they will to be able to clean the room but please see the front desk to replace coffee, towels, etc. The best thing about the room was the super quiet and effective AC/heating. Never had one so quiet. Two other gripes were closet doors that were very difficult to open (without breaking fingernails) and bathrooms with almost no racks or hooks for towels (despite a placard telling guests to hang up towels that they did not need replaced). I wanted to leave a note that said “hang them where? The staff were very friendly and the valet service worked very well, which was good as there was no other good alternative for parking. A nice hotel in a very nice location that was definitely not worth what we paid.

Response from Guest Service Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hotel San Luis Obispo
Responded 16 Aug 2022
Thank you for reviewing your stay. We are glad you had a peaceful sleep in your room, and we appreciate you mentioning how much you liked our courteous associates, ideal location, and valet service. However, we are sorry for not meeting your expectations with our accommodations and for not being able to move you to another room. We do everything possible to honor requests; however, it is not always possible, depending on our occupancy. We have also taken note of your observations regarding our rooms and regret the inconveniences caused to you. We are grateful for all of your feedback and hope you will return for the flawless stay you deserve. Best Regards, Reed Wolfington Hotel Manager

This was the last day of our trip looking at colleges andcwe stopped for 1 night, did themselves tour at Cal Poly. We arrived at noon and since we couldn't check in til 4pm, saw the school and walked around downtown. We were exhausted by the time we arrive at the hotel about 415 and found out room wasn't ready yet. We were so tired and Paige offered to go upstairs and see if any rooms were ready and just not marked as ready. Luckily one was and we went upstairs. Paige put a 50 dol food credit on our account, which was totally unnecessary. They were full yesterday and had a lot if rooms to clean. I understood that. The room was wonderful and so was the gym. Loved the shower and the shutters for the balcony. They didn't have those nasty curtains. Checking out was a breeze. I didn't get her name, but the gal at the desk made our coffee and checked us out. She was so nice. I gave 4 out of 5 due to our experience with the valet. He couldn't work the car, which was fine because none of the valets so far could do that. But I was fully prepared to tip because he was nice and they charged the car for us. He took my daughter to get her car, then got out and walked in the hotel. Our previous hotel the valet opened the doors and put our luggage in for us. It would just have been nice. But since he got out andcwalked into the hotel, he missed a tip.

Hotel SLO has it all: sleekly designed rooms complete with nespresso machine, modern furnishings, spacious living space. The hallways to the rooms are even wide making this place just feel luxurious and wide open with beautiful windows everywhere. We had a suite with a balcony and it felt private. No noise. It was fun to enjoy a glass of wine in our back patio complete with an oversized chair/lounge seat. Spent a little bit of time at the pool which was complete with high end pool loungers and was not crowded. Inside, the robes are super comfortable. The linens and beds were top notch. We were welcomed with smiles and genuine hospitality. The bathroom shower and products were soo nice too. We had the best French toast ever at the hotel restaurant one morning. The location is central to everything in SLO. The town itself has so much to offer. We did a bike winery tour through central coastal outdoors and would recommend booking something like that again. Walked to bionic tavola for excellent Italian food the first night, and to Nuvo restaurant the second night. In summary we would stay at hotel SLO again in a heartbeat if we get the chance to return. Highly recommend!

This is a beautiful hotel, walking distance and convenient to everything! The atmosphere is boutique and hip. We found the staff friendly and helpful, but completely overwhelmed. An example - my family left a couple clothing items in our closet in our room and realized after checkout. I called that evening and for two subsequent days and it took 3 days to get any attention for my lost items. Just understaffed and inexperienced team. Never 'found' my clothes - disappointing.

My friends and I spent the weekend at the SLO Hotel and it was wonderful. The rooms are all freshly decorated in a very modern motif. All of the amenities were first class - even a Netspresso machine. We had a lovely dinner on the patio, under the stars - with great music. We had a slight kerfuffle with a need to accommodate an extra friend who came with us at the last minute. The Hotel Manager - Reed Wolfington stepped into the breech and solved our problem brilliantly! Thank-you Reed! Highly recommend!

Wife and I visited Hotel SLO while road tripping down the Pacific Coast Highway. We enjoyed our stay here very much. The hotel’s location is unbeatable! Just one block from Higuera street (the main drag), we were able to check in and walk just one block to an incredible farmers market. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was modern and had a plethora of outlets. When I say that, I mean there were 3 + 2 USB ports on each side of the bed. In addition I counted 8 by the sink in the bathroom. It was a welcome treat after so many other hotels having to unplug alarm clocks for an outlet. The room also comes with complementary water and snacks. The water bottles are refillable with still or sparking water from the machines in the hallway on each floor. The bathroom has sliding bathroom doors which were a bit difficult to move fully on the tracks and the lack of any door on the shower meant it was tough not to splash a bit of water around, but overall it had all the usual amenities. We are at the Piadina downstairs and really enjoyed our pizza and wine. The live music was great! One thing to note is the music in the courtyard was loud and I imagine it may be less enjoyable if you were trying to get to sleep by 10. In addition, the room’s shutters offered very little light blocking in the morning, so I’d recommend an eye mask if the light wakes you easily. Lastly, we were able to use the bicycles from the hotel and get around SLO and take in some sights. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend anyone visiting to look into visiting.

Wonderful stay at the San Luis Obispo Hotel. We enjoyed just walking around and looking at all the design touches and furnishings and art and elegant clean, spare and intentionally thought-out industrial chic elements. High marks too for environmental consciousness too! Everyone was very nice and helpful and friendly and it really just could not have been a better visit. Also you can walk right out of the hotel and you are right in the coolest part of downtown San Luis Obispo where all the funky cool restaurants and bars are. Will definitely be back!

We booked a year in advance for Cal Poly graduation for our family. We stayed 4 nights, did hi bar on roof and spa and pool and piadina one night w a large group, and a big dinner at ox &anchor another night. Housekeeping kept water filled and plenty of towels. Spacious room w tub and sitting area, large closet and patio. Nice to be able to bring family members dog to room To visit or to a meal in lobby . Valet can be slow so call ahead, great mocha in lobby and easy refill for water ..walk to Higuera for TH farmers market, walk to shops, walk to finneys or new region wine bar. Having stayed many times during the pandemic when this hotel opened … we thought this was a favorite visit.. the longest .. but also the staff went the extra mile to store a lei or opine on when to go where, help w car, photos , make change, live music, keep things sparkly clean . Or make a morning coffee bar drink. They were all such nice people ..And mingling with other grad families was really festive . Wonderful air conditioning luxurious pressed sheets… made our tired, hot days more restful. Thank you for a great stay
