I was traveling through here on business and was extremely tired and ended up pulling off into SLO for gas at around 8p and just decided to look for a place to rest up. I noticed the reviews at this location were not bad for the price range. I didn’t want to hunt around and just with a whim booked it. When I showed up the staff was super friendly, parking ample, the room clean as it could be, hot shower, little table and chairs along with a desk, cool view of a little 🏔 mountain (hill) and I was able to open the windows in the bathroom above the shower and in front and create a rather awesome cross breeze. I removed the comforter and top sheet and used my own pillows and blanket. I didnt like what was there. It was so comfortable that i laid down and within an hour I was fast asleep. Slept perfectly through the night. When I checked out, the staff was so friendly (couldn’t get over it..rare these days), left smilin. Great over all experience.…
Very cheap hotel, so you get what you pay for. The room was large but very poorly arranged and not comfortable. The floors were filthy as was the room in general. The bathroom seemed to have been upgraded, so that was a good point. I would not stay here again.
This was a stopover on a road trip, and this hotel served the purpose well. The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel is conveniently located a short walk to downtown San Luis Obispo. Note that the hotel adds on a $5 "service fee". They said this was to cover the cost of dealing with Booking.com, but I booked nearly all the hotels on this road trip with Booking.com and this was the only one that added on an extra fee. I would prefer if they just included the $5 in the room charge, so you know exactly what the full cost is.
We booked two nights for Friday and Saturday. The price was going to be a little under $400. We chose this place since it is close to the hospital. My daughter was induced on Wednesday and had complications so they did a C-Section. We decided to go a day early and called the hotel to see if we could book a night for Thursday. She told us she would have to move us to a different room so we would not have to move after Thursday. She never mentioned there was an extra fee for that. She charged my credit card $711 for 3 nights!!! When I questioned her she said it was taxes. I showed her the email confirmation that included taxes. She then changed her story and said it was a fee for moving to another room. We decided to try to find another hotel but my new grandson was moved to NICU. We decided just to stay there since our daughter needed us to be with her. This isn’t even a nice hotel. The floor was filthy and the room outdated and the area is sketchy. I can’t believe they gouged us like that. So greedy. We plan on going to SLO often to see our grand son. They will NEVER get our business again.…
My two daughters and I needed a place to stay near the foothills of Culebra Peak where my older daughter was getting her WFR training, and San Luis Inn was the perfect spot. All the staff and owners were friendly. It was quiet, clean and safe/secure. We stayed for nine nights and found many things to do in the surrounding area. There is a fantastic Thai/Mexican restaurant and a pizza place/convenience store within a few minutes walk. It is worth walking around San Luis to see the murals and walk the Stations of the Cross up the hill to the historic church there. Taos, the Enchanted Circle drive, rafting on the Rio Grande and Earthship are just a little over an hour away, south, and Great Sand Dunes National Park is about an hour north. Alamosa is about an hour away for re-provisioning (Walmart, Safeway, Sonic, etc.) San Luis Inn was the perfect central location to use as a home base. Fresh coffee was ready in the lobby downstairs every morning by 6:30am. Cold water was always available in the lobby frig. Pre-packaged pastries, coffee cake and nutrition bars were available for breakfast, free of charge. Frozen convenience foods, breakfast cereal bowls, soda and candy bars were available for a small fee. For those looking for healthier food, there is an organic grocer in Taos, and the San Luis Inn will provide a refrigerator for your room, free of charge. There is a microwave in the lobby. The owners were invested in making our stay as carefree and enjoyable as possible. We would definitely stay again when in the area.…
We stayed just one night but had such a comfortable stay. The owners were friendly and helpful. Room was relatively modern, very clean. Nice beds and pillows. We had a long, quiet sleep. Simple, tasty breakfast of fresh muffins / cereal and coffee was appreciated. Would absolutely stay again!
I nearly fainted when I saw the room assigned. Being a Senior Citizen, I asked for a ground floor room. The room was a dump. Old, unkempt, curtains falling apart. I was changed to a better room upstairs.
We stayed in the San Luis Inn & Suites (thankfully!) for only one night while traveling from Monterey to Los Angeles. We chose that hotel because it had the least bad reviews compared to other hotels in this price range. We should have known better... When we arrived the checkin was a bit chaotic - which isn't a real problem. But the staff member checking us in was pretty unfriendly and simply seemed bothered by us. Anyway, everyone can have a bad day, we didn't really care at that point. But I'd like to mention it anyway because it helps building the picture for that review. Our room was on the first floor. When we arrived some maintenance work with the water pipes was going on so we didn't have water yet. But when opening the room a really, really disgusting stench was in the whole room. For me it smelled like a mixture of urine and marihuana. As all other rooms where booked we had to cope with that. But I really was about the leave that hotel again, it was my wife who convinced me to just have some deodorant being sprayed in the room and to accept it for this single night. After some time we finally had water, but after showering we noticed that the hair dryer wasn't working. Luckily it was a really warm day so I didn't need it urgently. Also there was no closed to put clothes into. Luckily again it was only one night anyway. After some hours we got used to that stench and tried to sleep which was not that easy. First it was really loud from the outside due to the passing roads, second the curtains were too far away from the windows. So the lights from the access balcony were really bright and enlightened the room too much. The next morning we had breakfast. Muffins and coffee. Typical bad motel breakfast. Checking out was as unfriendly as the checkin the day before (though it was a different staff member). I will definitely never ever stay there again. Better sleep in my car and safe the money.…
2 tired and hungry kids at the end of a long PCH road trip. Apparently it was the last room - but they hosed us for over $202. Bathroom light didn't work (although they did fix it quickly). Average bed comfort. Motel grounds unclean and untidy.
We were on a trip down highway 1 and usually stayed one night in different motels. This was one of the best so far, it's still a two star motel so yes there might be a few stains in the room but overall the place made a good impression. Really nice lady at the front desk, breakfast was from 7;30-9:30 and contained muffins, cereal, milk, coffee and orange juice, everything got refilled till 9:30., So nothing sensational but for what's typical here in the motels it was quite good. We didn't use the pool as we were only staying one night but it made a good clean impression. Compared to everything around with a 2 star rating this was much cheaper so felt like a really good deal for us. If you are noise sensitive ask for a room on the top floor as otherwise you can hear the people above you walking around, it didn't bother us much but in case you plan to stay longer or are sensitive just request a top floor room.…
