My stay was terrible. First room, it appeared water was flooded all over the floor. I was moved to another room, where there appeared to be a foul chemical smell, (probably from the floors) that lasted all night. Bathroom vent appeared to not work, and bathroom appeared to have mold. I notified the front desk and that i needed to speak the the manager, and it appears that I am unable to speak to one. I booked directly through the hotel and not a travel booking company. It’s been nearly a week and I am still waiting for the manager to call.
I booked this hotel room online using our vacation travel website. I checked the photos and the reviews. This room did not match either. First, the room had a musty smell. We noticed that wall paper was peeling in places. The tv didn't work, even after they replaced the HDMI cord. There were no bedspreads on the beds-only cheap blankets. There was sand on my sheets. The headboard was torn in several places. There was mold in the bathroom ceiling. There was no lamp between the beds. The mattresses and pillows were cheap and uncomfortable. But the final straw was the glass in the carpet in front of the sliding glass door. We didn't see it at night, but in the morning the sun was shining on it. Fortunately, no one cut their feet. I called the front desk to express my displeasure. They said the manager was out, but would call me back later. I asked for someone to come to the room, so I could show them what I was talking about. The handyman came. I showed him the problems. He appeared sympathetic. I asked about the manager or owner. He said his truck was there, and he was usually there. When I went down to check out, I again asked to speak to the manager. Again, they said he was out. I think they just flat out lied. I wrote out my complaints and said I would like a refund for the 1 night I stayed. I said I had taken photos. Again, they said that they could not refund me unless the manager approved it. I waited a week and he never called, so I called my credit card company and filed a dispute. I did ask for a different room, but they said they were full. I would have left, but it was a holiday weekend, and everything else nearby was also booked up.…
The place must be in transition, from bad and dated to good and updated. Right now it's a mixed bag. If I remember correctly, I stayed here decades ago, and at the time it was a Howard Johnson's. The hallway (downstairs in our building) has been nicely redone with new carpet and paneling on the walls. Now for the room: I have noticed reports here of a smell in the rooms. I think it's the scent of whatever cleaner or air freshener they are using. It's a bit strong at first, but we weren't bothered. Some may be sensitive to that particular scent, but I think that using the air conditioner and/or opening up the slider door to air out the room could take care of it. Speaking of the slider door, we found it handy for hauling our luggage to and from our car. There's a locking bar on the door for security, so we felt safe enough. Updated features in the room are the bed and bedding, as well as the rest of the furniture. One dated chair remained in the room, but I actually liked it, and it became my relaxation spot. The desk should have doubled as a vanity, but the mirror that should have been with it was elsewhere on the wall, at a place that made no sense. The bathroom mirror had a huge crack in it, and looked borderline dangerous (room 112). The room and bathroom were otherwise fairly clean, but not pristine. The shower had great water pressure; almost too good, I felt a little guilty using so much water in our drought-stricken state. I wished the bathroom ceiling had a vent fan rather than the useless heat lamps. We were glad to have the ironing board and iron that were provided. A mini-fridge and microwave were very handy, and the coffee maker was a welcome feature in the morning. Whatever breakfast they used to provide has been suspended during Covid. The grounds are grassy, but weedy and downright shoddy and cluttered in some areas. The pool area itself is beautiful, with a fountain flowing into the spa, a sparkling main pool, and some picnic tables on the spacious lawn. Staff was friendly; no complaints there. Because of the value price of this hotel (much less than most in town), and the great location (between downtown SLO and the beaches), we would stay here again. We noticed a couple staying here with their grandkids; this hotel seemed perfect for them.…
Pictures looked great and the pool and jacuzzi area was actually nice in person, but honestly I was trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt, between the mismatched carpets, strange smell, and whipped head boards, I really was trying to overlook all those things. Honestly the main reason why I’m rating so low is Bc of the lack of cleanliness. There was PUBIC hair in the bathroom tub, when I went to dry off w the towels in the bathroom, there were long strands of grayish hair in the towels, a toe nail on the floor by the side of the bed. Trash on the floor by entrances, spider webs galore. I really think this place was over priced and still feel like barfing when I think of the pubic hair, random hair strands in what’s suppose to be clean towels, and a toe nail. Hands down the dirtiest place I’ve ever stayed.…
Pretty pricy for a run down basic hotel. Shower has no water pressure, so forget washing your hair. Had to ask for more towels and wash cloths. Person puking in parking lot, bring your ear plugs for hall noise, and keys had to be re-keyed twice. Was fairly clean, but felt like I needed to wipe things down when I arrived. Would only stay again as a last resort.
Not sure how this place passes health inspections. It is really run down & sad inside. Our room didn’t have toilet paper in the bathroom & when checking for bed bugs, we moticed how stained the mattresses were. The carpet seemed really worn & filthy. Cannot recommend & stay here at your own risk.
My Hotel room was quite large... I was told it looked out over the pool but all I saw was a parking lot next door and no pool anywhere in sight of my room. The room needed some deeper cleaning for sure but I still enjoyed staying there and the bed was comfortable . All the amenities you should expect and everything did work. The room was a little pricy for what you get but I would probably stay there again. Also, it was not nosey at all while I was there'd the hotel looked fairly sold out.
This place was pretty decent for the price. Layed back. Nice pool n Jacuzzi was amazing! Bbq pits n grass area for chillaxin.... I would go back. Definitely need to upgrade a little bit but its still not bad!
due to Covid the lobby was closed and we waited for 40 (yes, forty!!!) minutes in the extreme heat trying to check in. the process was excruciatingly slow and they only had 1 person working. it was horrible. they also price gauged us because it was CalPoly move in weekend, however I think all the hotels do that. the room was fine. it was clean and the air conditioning worked. the ice machine had clean ice. the location very convenient, super close to Target. I would not stay here again unless I had no other choices.
The new general manager Eyad has brought this place to life. My friend and I had a great stay and this hotel is close to everything! 10/10 would recommend a stay here if you want a relaxing visit to SLO
