The Sands Inn is the place to stay if you're looking for a good rate and need to bring your dog along for the ride. They have a complimentary breakfast and an outdoor pool and hot tub. My parents stayed here every time they visited me while I attended Cal Poly.

Our family of 4 stayed 2 nights at this hotel. We found the room to be clean and well maintained. However, for some mysterious reason, an old chair was placed in front of the bathroom. It only took up valuable space. The complimentary breakfast was really good, lots of fresh fruit and youghurt, and the staff was making sure to...

Stayed here one night with my two sons. We decided to walk downtown - a little too far of a walk but we did it. Lovely downtown area with tons of eateries and shops. Hotel check-in staff was super friendly. I'd stay here again. Free breakfast did the job. Nothing fancy but just right.

We hit Paso Robles on the Central Coast mid Saturday evening BUT during the mid State fair. It soon became clear that PR was sold out and we drove 20 minutes south to Atascadero. Nothing to be had - well if you we're prepared to pay up to $199 for a $70 room you might get lucky. They were making...

My husband and I stayed here in July 2013. It was a bad experience. We had to stay there, because all the other hotels in that area were full. We had been driving all day, and were tired. They gave us the " conference suite" for a cheap price. One of the other posters spoke about the conference room turned into...

We stayed at this hotel many times when my daughter was a student at Cal Poly and decided to stay there again on a recent CA driving trip. The motel was just as we remembered, and the property is maintained well. The staff was friendly and helpful, and our room provided everything needed for a basic, comfortable stay. The room...

As Cbauer81 noted, indoor corridor hotels, which the Sands is not, are quieter; and there was the unavoidable car noise from the centrally-located parking lot. Fortunately this calmed down when it came time to sleep. The breakfast area was basic, but clean. Breakfast was nothing to write home about, but there was reasonable variety and plenty of food; and hey,...

Recently stayed here for Cal Poly Graduation Friday June 14-Sunday June 16. Have stayed in different nearby hotels and decided to give The Sands Inn & Suites a try. I normally stay in a "indoor" corridor type hotel, because of noise issues. I am a light sleeper and it was very quiet here. No noise whatsoever. There was a little...

The Sands Inn & Suites is a nice, clean and well located motel in San Luis Obispo. While not the Ritz, it served my needs well with a comfortable bed, good internet access and a refrigerator. I liked that I was able to park right at my room door, which helped as I was only staying 1 night, and I...

Stayed during Cal Poly graduation, so the rate was inflated (as all in town were). Breafast buffett eggs/potato's were luke warm every morning. Some cobwebs on the cafe patio covers. Rooms are dated but comfortable. SLO trolley picks up right in front.Helpful staff. I've stayed in 5 or 6 places in SLO over the past 4 years and this place...
