Lovely place! Comfy beds, super clean, great shower and water pressure. Hotel looks brand new. Only stayed for one night but given the large room complete with a kitchenette, recliner, and desk, could stay for much longer. The only problem with this hotel is that it is in Santa Maria, but that’s not the property’s fault.
Good location, right off the highway. Clean and friendly. Loved having the mini kitchen. Roomy with a nice recliner. Definitely comfy enough if you need to stay for an extended period of time. Easy drive into surrounding cities such as Pismo. Enjoy!!
The rooms are on the smaller side, and the place feels a little old. More so in the hallways compared to the rooms. For the money it was fine though. Free laundry was cool. Due to covid you have to reserve and get the room to yourself for 2 hours.
I've stayed at a few Candlewoods in my time in the IHG program. They almost always feel like college dorms. But you know what you're getting with them. You expect it. This one? Better. The rooms were more modern. The AC was super cold (and I need that to sleep) and the bed was pretty comfy. Also the front desk guy was great. Super personable and helpful. let me substitute one of my welcome amenities for wash soap. Also it looks like they're all really on top of the whole covid cleaning and regulations, which is good. Also they're not cleaning rooms every day because of Covid. Which makes sense. Less people in my room the better. Though if I was staying four days or more I'd request they change the sheets. Only con on the place is it IS a little hard to find. I'm not kidding. It took the GPS two tries to get me there. But the upside to that is that you're not near all the action on the road nearby. And it's not too far from the beach if you want to drive over there. Worth it.…
We were there during the December holidays (21st Dec to 24th Dec). Note that this is an extended stay hotel and hence the housekeeping is not going to be cleaning your room daily, which we probably should have known when we booked it. However, the rooms were clean and well maintained. The front desk was cordial and greeted well at check-in. Like most IHG hotels, laundry does not require coins. Overall, a decent hotel for the price you pay.
The hotel is on the northern most portion of Santa Maria with easy freeway access. The rooms were clean and welcoming. The service was friendly. I enjoy the kitchenettes as they add a little to any hotel room. Would book again when I am next in Santa Maria.
Candlewood Suites Review My condo was being fumigated so I spent three nights at the Candlewood Suites in Santa Maria. I have stayed in this area several times for wine tasting and to eat at Jocko's. In the immediate vicinity are three other major hotels. Another huge one is being built across the street. Down Broadway there are lots of old fashioned motels. While Candlewood fronts on Broadway, the entrance is in the backside. My room was on the third floor, facing the parking lot. The room is clean. It is well equipped. Internet access is fine. There is a fully-equipped kitchen, with microwave, stove, coffee machine, toaster, pots and pans, dishes, glasses, etc. The bed was very comfotable. However, sleep was marred by 1} the noisy air-conditioner which sounds like a big truck; 2) the clicks and thuds from the refrigerator. I guess I am not used to sleeping in the same room as a refrigerator. There is no safe in my room. There was no box of tissues. Water pressure was good in the shower but wholly inadequate at the sink. How can you wash your toothbrush in a trickle? The LG TV was good. Lighting is the biggest weakness in the design. There is only one bedside lamp so it is poor lighting for reading in bed. There is no restaurant on site. There is 24-hour coffee near the lobby but the cup I tried was simply awful. There is only room cleaning once a week! Fresh towels can be obtained from the front desk. There is free self-service laundry. The gym is only half a room of equipment. Frankly I would hesitate to return to Candlewood Suites because of the lack of daily room cleaning.…
This was a wonderful place to stay. We had a one-bedroom suite, and it was nearly perfect. As with all IHG facilities, the restroom lacked hooks. Especially when housekeeping is just once a week, having one hook for four towels is very inefficient. I don't like the bathroom looking like a laundry room with towels hanging over the shower rod, but there is no other option. All of the hotel staff were cheerful and helpful. There is 24/7 coffee/decaf in the lobby. I still asked and was gladly given a coffee pod (makes four cups) for our suite. And, the lobby and outside area is so clean. I even saw housekeeping wiping down the luggage carts. There is definitely pride taken in this hotel. There is a small outside area with a barbecue and tables. Also, I ran eight miles, and the Santa Maria River Trail (sort of parallel's the 101 is very close (3/4 run). And, Boomers is just 1/4 mile away, offering go-karts, game room, miniature golf.…
I was in Santa Maria do to a death in the family. The chamber of commerce recommended this hotel to my sister. Cleanliness was sub standard, rooms were very small, had a 2 burner cook top, but full size refrigerator. Only cleaned once a week. I would not reccomend this hotel.
Have never stayed at a Candlewood before but enjoyed my week here. Fully stocked kichens enable you to cook if you want to stay in. Housekeeping is only once a week but you can replace linens at the front desk. Close to freeway and shopping.
