I stayed in the economy room for a recent work project in Santa Monica. My room was very clean, comfortable, with everything I needed. The office staff was most accommodating and helpful, and went the extra mile for me by helping me find parking for...More
Santa Monica is a fantastic place, and Main Street is a hotspot for pubsters, eaters and lovers of the beach. The Seashore Motel lies just perfectly located on Main Street, close to all the good bars and restaurants. It is a 5 minutes walk to...More
Great little motel, nice location. We had a Queen Suite, which is actually in a separate building that is accessed through the parking area/ alley or a street entrance. This was a little concerning as far as safety goes walking at night. There was a...More

I love this motel! It is in a great neighborhood just a few blocks from the beach, and it is so affordable! There are a lot of cool stores and restaurants within walking distance. I felt very safe traveling with my family staying here.
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller
coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.

It is not at all close or convenient to Hollywood or Universal. LA is very spread out and traffic is horrendous. I did the four hour tour as well, just for an overview and found it plenty. The stop at Universal was very brief, however, so not really enough time if you want to see more. Perhaps one of the two day, hop-on, hop-off tours would work for you to visit all the places at your leisure.
