The building is OK but smells, There is construction everywhere with large trucks, water leaks in the rooms. One building had no water at all but they still booked the rooms and charged for dysfunctional rooms. The staff threatened us as we checked in, not one person working there smiled, no one said hello, no one tried to assist with...

Had to check in last min., found the sandman at a reasonable rate. Showed up saw the lobby under construction & was bummed thinking it would be a real disaster of a stay. I was wrong! The rooms were all newly renovated, smelled like fresh paint and new carpet. Totally unexpected and enjoyable stay. Stay here!

Good friendly service, clean. New paint. New lights, faucets and fixtures. New heater. Still has the bones of a basic cheap motel. Well worth the price, but could use a basic decorator. Blinds but no curtains, no wall pictures. Pool was closed. Exercise room closed. The web site did not represent this well. The web site was much more upscale than the...

Ok, we are traveling cross country for Christmas, and we travel with our small dogs, so we need a nice place to spend the night that has good reviews and a nice, well lit place to walk the dogs. Sandman had all of that when we made reservations, and we made reservations for the return trip also. They failed to...

There is debris all over the place while they are remodeling and the rooms that have been redone have an odor from the new carpet that has been put it, it makes you cough and your eyes burn. We checked out the room and decided not to stay there. Also there were men hanging outside that were not workers or...

The Sandman is a nice motel. I would have to agree with what most reviewers have said about the quality and comfort of the rooms. However, it is just a reasonably nice motel, nothing more than that, nothing special. They are charging as much or more than area hotels that are in a higher class, such as the Best Western,...

Based on the reviews here, I booked a night's stay while passing through. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable; no complaints. Continental breakfast consists mainly of juices, coffee/tea and processed, store bought muffins and scones; nothing special but also not very appetizing, so I grabbed breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Def would stay here again and would recommend...

I was extremely satisfied with my stay here. Large rooms, ample parking, and a basic breakfast included. There were absolutely no problems, and the hotel met all of my needs. I definitely recommend this hotel if you are visiting Santa Rosa or the Sonoma wine country. **Booking Tip:** When booking, check the price directly with the hotel website. For the...

Location was somewhat convenient. Queen bed and the room was nice. Housekeepers kept the room very clean. Continental breakfast was excellent. Quite a lot of room remodeling happening around our room. Travels be aware that this location is more like a Motel then a hotel.

This is definitely your old variety of motel. It appears to have been built in the 60s. Although it is old, it is clean and the beds and rooms were fine, but quite dark. You must have a car to stay here as there are no attractions or decent eating or entertainment facilities close by. The supplied breakfast is basic,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Sandman is a mythical creature who brings good dreams by sprinkling magical sand on the weary eyes of those sleeping. In the city of Santa Rosa, the Sandman is a new incarnation of a roadside inn that brings a warm and offbeat experience to weary travelers. Situated at the northernmost edge (nearly within shouting distance of Sonoma's wineries) the Sandman's muted colors, warm woods, and relaxed design will welcome you in. Sink into the casual comfort of the lobby, lounge by the pool, or enjoy a local brew at Sandman's new poolside bar. ... more   less
