Clean, simple decor, modest price, nearby grocery store and amenities, easy drive to local mountains. Dropped off key in drop slot when office was not open in morning. "Kitchenette" is refrigerator and small coffee maker.

My first contact with this motel was on the phone, which was not so great. The man on the phone that I was speaking with was not the friendliest and after I asked him a few questions after reserving my room, he said that he had a customer and rushed me off the phone. I wasn't expecting top notch service,...

We checked the Topper Motel first - they were full except one smoking room which we declined - manager suggested we try the Caprice. The owner/manager of the Caprice was very nice, rooms were clean, A/C worked great (it was still in the 90's when we checked in). We walked to the Frosty King (local fast food burger joint) and...

Didn't make advance reservations, so I asked a resident of Taft, who suggested Caprice Motel. Stayed Thursday to Friday overnight in a room with King size bed, flat screen TV, wi-fi, refrigerator, and coffee maker. Cost, reasonable, for a room that is clean and well kept. Courteous and helpful owner. Parked directly in front of room. I recommend this motel.

Found myself stuck in Taft for the night. Looked at Tripadvisor and then went on to the Holland Inn but it is walking distance to basically nothing and pretty isolated overall. Toppers looked pretty scary from the outside. So I just eyeballed my alternatives and the Caprice seemed like the cleanest and most central option. Seems like most of their...

This was our third stay at the Caprice. Staff was professional and friendly. Rooms are good sized and the bed comfortable. Sheets could be updated. Were a bit threadbare but not a deal breaker. Walking distance to restaurants. Very good Thai restaurant nearby. Room price was excellent. We will definitely stay here again.

I got a good night's rest here and was quite comfortable. No problems. Many of the other guests were petroleum-industry folks. I'm a tourist on my way to Carrizo Plain, but I don't have a problem with that. Part of the whole experience of passing through Taft.

Unfortunately this motel is rarely available to go to because they reserve the whole motel to oil companies for their crew to use when working in Taft or nearby. This has been going on for at least the past 4 years.

It's a convenient location in downtown Taft within walking distance of restaurants and shops. The place was clean. There was a burned out fluorescent tube in the bathroom. My greatest concern was security. The wooden doors have a deadbolt lock and a standard household doorknob lock. There is no other security. They use old-fashioned metal keys. The doors to the...
