To enjoy this experience, you have to be comfortable about finding yourself entirely alone in a secluded valley/oasis surrounded by coyotes and not much else. For many, this would be paradise but I was rather unnerved by the whole situation and slept badly. If you arrive late in the day, make sure you come with food as the nearest place...

It's been our second time to Death Valley and the 2nd time at Cynthia's. You get what you pay for - we slept at the bunk bed rooms and it was great. It's very clean and the beds are comfortable. Cynthia is the best - funny and helpful. It's been a great time and the next time we come to...

Well, if you rate this place based on an expectation of "hotels", then look somewhere else as it is far too basic. It has everything you will need but that's all, e.g. comfortable bed, clean toilet, parking. There is no breakfast, no cell phone signal. there is no 24hr reception to take care of you, there is no restaurant and...

Although this in a fairly out of the way location we found this property to be the worst stay we had on our trip to the West Coast of America. Unfortunately there are not many choices in this area for accommodation, however there must be something better than this. We found this property to be greatly overpriced, jerry built &...

Stayed for one night on the way to Death Valley. Pros * Unique experience * Location - easy access to Death Valley (breathtaking!), close to hot springs (drive through Tecopa to the far side and take a dip in the natural 'mud flats' pool for free!) * Helpful staff * Bed warmers in tepees * Tepees large and can fit...

We stayed at Cynthias on Easter weekend in the dorm room with two bunkbeds. Cynthia was very gracious and helpful and even discounted a room since there were only two of us. When we got there she recommended a couple things for us to do it was very very helpful. We took her suggestions and went to China Ranch for...

This is "getting away from It all". Great hospitality, clean, comfy and super quiet room set in the desert. No cooking or coffee making facilities on site. Nearest eatery 3 miles away. If you want a beer you should Stock up at the nearby Shoshone general Store.

Cynthia's is exactly as advertised - excellent if you like funky character. We stayed in a trailer unit, did not check out the tipis. Comfortable bed, quiet nights, desert night sky, friendly proprietor. We used it as a base to explore Death Valley. Tecopa is a down on its luck place working on a comeback- new brewpub, and a new...

I loved this place. I stayed in the dorm for the two nights I was there at the end of November, and I had the place to myself. It really did feel like it was in the middle of nowhere, and when I got there I had to phone Cynthia (a phone is handily provided) to let her know I...

I've had my eye on this lodging venue for a long time and it exceeded my expectations. We stayed at the end of November and although the weather was cold, we were not. The house next to the tipis has a wood burning stove and we enjoyed that area in the evening. When we retired to our tipis, we took...
