I spent three nights in a one-bedroom unit at the Lodge in connection with a conference I was attending in Breckenridge. I've been working on a project in Breck this year. Mountain Thunder was the fourth place I stayed. It was by far the best of the four. The Lodge is really a campus of several buildings. Although it is just a few blocks from the business district, its artful landscaping gives it a feeling of separation. I stayed in Building 5. It's the closest building to the nearby large street, which was just steps away, but it had the feeling of being in a much more rural, forested area. Check in was fast and efficient - the whole process took perhaps two minutes. Then it was on to the garage, which was under Building 5 - easy to find, easy to enter, with wide spaces that were easy to park in. And it was easy to find the elevator, which can be a problem in some parking garages. Luggage carts were available (although I did not need one). My unit upstairs was spacious in every respect - living/dining area, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The decor was tasteful, not garish. All necessary amenities were provided in both the kitchen and the bathroom. The wireless internet connected quickly and reliably. The wireless speed was sufficient for business purposes. Most important, the unit was really quiet. I slept well all three nights. The building has a small fitness room with limited but sufficient equipment. I could see a nice heated pool and hot tub from my balcony, although I did not have time to go there. Check out was also quick and easy. I stayed during an off-peak time of year. I don't know what the Lodge would be like during the two peak seasons, but I suspect that it still does pretty well, certainly in comparison to the other three places where I stayed this year. The Lodge will be my first choice for my next stay.

The good: -the location is very good, walking distance from downtown and gondola -Can use amenities like bowling, pool etc at the sister property (one ski hillplace) -has free shuttle system to take you around on call which was super helpful -has a nice pool -well equipped kitchen with very good quality pots and pans -free coffee, tea in the main hall/room -free common laundry on each floor The not-so-good: -not sure how it’s rated this high -the rooms really need upgrading, especially the carpets smell so musty. We changed the room twice but even then we weren’t super happy about the carpet -the sofa bed also were all old and looked dusty. They were super uncomfortable to sleep in with spring touching your back -some of the balconies could be facing the parking lot so make sure you ask for a good room with good views -staff wasn’t rude but not friendly either I wouldn’t stay here next time considering it isn’t cheap!

Well equipped condo in a great location. Easy access to town and gondola, with ski off access. Short walk to hot tub. Shuttle bus was a great option if you wanted to skip the gondola, or explore Peaks other than Peak 8.

The lodge is nice and mountain themed. The location is tricky. We were told multiple times upon booking that it is a ski in walk out to gondola resort. Well mid April this is not true at all. When there is not a lot of snow there is 0% chance of skiing in. It’s far down and as the days warm, the path leading to the lodge melts , quickly. They need to be more honest. Also , if you have little kids, the walk to the gondola is not easy. It’s down a bunch of stairs and up a bunch. It was really hard for us and after one day of it we ended up driving across the street and paying for parking. When we did that we realized the premium cost to be “ski in” and easily accessible to gondola was no longer the case. We could have stayed literally anywhere and parked at the gondola. This is something people with young kids MUST know. The positive is the 2 Br unit was really spacious. It was wel laid out with a nice balcony and fully stocked. UNIT 5201 did not provide garage parking which in the winter would not be great. Also it backs to the jacuzzis which get quite rowdy at night. While the unit was nice , the location really didn’t work for our young family and because of that we would not stay there again. Also the mgmt company Pinnacle forces you to drive 20 minutes to their office to get keys and return keys. There is a lobby with staff at the lodge and for some odd reason they can not provide the room keys. Not very user Friendly.

Mountain Thunder Lodge, a Vail Resorts Management Company property, are aware that their roller shades offer ZERO privacy at night. That's right. Both bedrooms and the living room are totally visible to anyone on the patio next door, in the neighboring buildings, or walking or driving by. We stayed here for our teen daughter's spring break during the first week of April. From inside, we had no idea that at night anyone outside can see right in. We had ZERO privacy and didn't realize until the end of our stay. We spoke with management regarding this and their solution was to offer a maintenance person to come hang a sheet over the inside of our windows. They refused to move us or change out the blinds. They also refused to take any responsibility and claimed it was up to the actual condo owner to alert us that any random person in a neighboring condo, or walking or driving on the street could see right into our condo at night. We rented the condo directly from Mountain Thunder Lodge, a Vail Resort at Breckenridge. We have no idea who actually owns the condo. They did offer to refund us the $30 daily resort fee. We spent $4,000 on our one week stay. They also had the audacity to charge us an extra $175 when we asked for a late checkout. Guests should have every expectation of privacy in bedrooms. This resort clearly does not care about the safety and well-being of their guests. We also asked management to have a representative of their legal team contact us. It has been 10 days since we checked out and we have not heard from anyone. I cannot recommend this resort and would give it zero stars if I could.

We booked our stay back in August through Epic for an early March visit. We were re-assured when we booked TWO units that they would be next door to each other since there was not a townhome large enough to house all 9 of us. Prior to arriving, I called MTL 2x to confirm that they had it noted that we needed two units directly next door since we were family traveling together with kids. I was told it was noted (NEVER was it said that it wasn't even possible based on the units rented). Upon arrival, not only was I told that our units weren't next door (or even close!) but that whoever was in unit 701 had to MOVE after two nights to accommodate the owners who wanted to get some non-urgent work done in the unit! I could not believe it. This was booked in August 2021. The woman at the front desk upon check-in told us that her manager had supposedly tried calling us. This was COMPLETELY false as we had no missed calls, messages or emails! We were there for 4 nights so to pack up two kids and move halfway through our stay was a MAJOR inconvenience. We asked if the manager could call us first thing in the morning (arrives at 7:30am) to discuss this matter. She apparently finally found time to call at 2pm when she clearly knew we'd be up on the mountain. This was definitely not an urgent concern of hers. After an unbelievably unpleasant conversation, she told us we had to move and never apologized. We were told housekeeping would move our luggage for us and she would comp us $40/day for resort fees. Hardly makes up for the inconvenience! We had to completely pack up! To make matters worse, they told us we had to be out by 11am and might not be able to get into our new unit until 4pm. Not a problem for us skiers but my husband was not skiing that day and planning to work. Thankfully we did get a call that the unit was available early afternoon. It was just incredibly bothersome that they were absolutely OK with shorting us 5 hours of a rental that we had already paid for! Lastly, when we went to check out, we called to see if we could get a noon check-out. Seamed to be a reasonable request given what we had been through. We were told NO and when we went to leave at 11am, housekeeping was basically stalking us in the driveway. In the end, location is great, but they treat guests poorly. I had called Epic to see if there was anything they could do since we booked through them but that was not helpful either. I would not recommend and will never stay here again. Never in my life have I ever had an experience like this one.

We stayed for 5 nights in a one bedroom in building 5. Check-in was fast and efficient. The underground parking garage was ideal. However there were only about 20 spots in there. We stayed mid-week (Sun-Friday) and I bet it gets filled up at busy times. There are outside parking spots available near the building for overflow. The condo #5103 was next to ski lockers on first floor. Very convenient to get to lockers and outdoor pool/hottub. The pool was warm but I would have preferred warmer. The hot tubs were great. Nice heated changing area /bathroom. The condo had some minor issues showing lack of upkeep/repair. The front of microwave was cracked, there were cracked tiles on bathroom floor, the warming drawer under oven was off its runners and couldn't be opened. The carpet was stained. The gas fireplace was excellent. Push a button and it heated up fast. The bedroom was small!! If you need to set up a crib or playpen, forget it. No space. My son said the pull out sofa mattress was thin and uncomfortable. His wife is pregnant and she did not sleep well. Probably OK for a small child though. No housekeeping. Empty your own trash and recycling. There is FREE laundry (one washer and dryer) on each floor. Unfortunately we got a inconsiderate guest ahead of us who left wet clothes in washer for hours. Location is great. Just take the tunnel under the road and walk to the Breck Connect Gondola. Then ski out "4 O'clock run" to "Gondola ski back". For building 5 do not exit slope at the "Mountain Thunder access" but keep going all the way to the end (Right at the entrance to the tunnel) and cross the driveway.

We recently stayed at Mountain Thunder Lodge for a week long stay in Breck. We were in a townhome which afforded our family of 4 plenty of space to spread out. There was a K. bed with attached bath for one bedroom and a second bedroom with a queen bed and attached bath. There was also a sleeper sofa, which we decided to use. I would agree that the kitchen utensils, etc. were a little on the sparse side, but there was enough for what we needed. The townhome's garage was heated. It had high ceilings and a nice sized porch. The townhomes are up the hill a bit from the main lodge/check-in. You can take the 4 o'clock/Gondola run as you ski down and then walk up to the townhomes. You could walk to the Gondola as well, but the shuttle is super convenient. The townhomes were a bit farther away from the gondola than the condos (maybe a 4-5 block walk?). The condos were slightly closer. In a reservation mistake on our friends' part, they ended up in the condos. While they said they had adequate space, they felt the townhomes were newer and a but more spacious. The outdoor pool and two hot tubs was in between the condos and townhomes. While staying here, we also took the shuttle to One Ski Hill Place and used the indoor pool and hot tubs, as well as the bowling alley. We were allowed to make reservations for the bowling alley 24 hours in advance and since there were 8 of us, we had both lanes to ourself. The kids loved it. While One Ski Hill Place looked a bit more posh, we all agreed we liked the location of Mountain Thunder. It was within easy walking distance to town (whereas One Ski Hill Place would've required you drive or shuttle). Mountain Thunder is super close to the entrance into town as well making it really convenient to get in and out of Breck. The condos and townhomes are both maybe showing a bit of age/wear and tear, with the townhomes appearing to be a but newer. However, for our purposes, it was perfect and we would definitely book and stay here again!

The accommodation was completely awful. I had to pre-pay for 5 nights and I checked out the first morning. This was described on booking.com as a "superior studio" with free wifi and a balcony. On the official site for Mountain Thunder, they describe the amenities to include "high-speed internet" and as having a distinctive stone-and-timber design, stylish alpine décor, seclusion, and luxurious guest accommodations. For my $865 / night I was expecting at least what was described. The reality: The room was clean but definitely NOT stylish unless you think dated 80s furniture and mustard yellow walls are stylish perhaps? The sleeping arrangement consisted of an uncomfortable murphy bed and a pullout sofa. The so-called balcony was a teeny, tiny, joke of a ground-level "patio" looking at a car parking area. But it got worse. The "high-speed" internet that I 100% relied on for my business and for my daughter's homeschooling, was not even a dribble. I was told by the front desk management, that the entire town had bad wifi because it was so busy. In my frustration, I had screenshot the wifi speed which was 16 kilobits/sec (this is .016 megabits/sec) which, even in an absolute stretch is not even close to high-speed unless we're talking early 1990s dial-up modem perhaps? I was lucky to have friends staying at other hotels/condos nearby that took us in as couch surfers. Funnily, on the very same day at around the same time, the wifi at the lodge at Peak 7 had no issues with speeds that varied from 38 megabits/sec to as high as 238 megabits/sec at Peak 8. For some people, a lack of wifi might be a blessing, but for me, it was not an option not to have it. My stay lasted about 16 hours, and the only consolation I was offered, was a credit of $1,060.51 as they were able to rebook to someone else for a short period. Never again!

We just returned from a week at the Thunder Lodge. We were in a 2 bedroom condo in building 5. The location is great and the unit was spacious, but that is about it for the positives. The place is very expensive but the amenities and service are lacking. There is no valet to help with your luggage; the internet is spotty at best -- in fact, it was out for nearly 8 hours one day; I called to have our icemaker repaired and no one showed up (I figured out how to fix it myself). The water pressure in the showers was poor and there are no toiletries in the bathroom other than large/shareable bottles of shampoo/conditioner/soap. The fitness room in building 5 was tiny (3 or 4 machines total - it may be better in the main building but we didn't want to walk over there in our gym clothes in the snow.) The shuttle often took a long time to arrive. And the kitchen wasn't well-stocked. They only serviced our room once during the week and that only involved changing sheets and towels -- no one vacuumed or cleaned the kitchen. And the pictures on their website show a washer and dryer in the unit but they are shared in the hallway (at least they were free.) Finally, we needed a rollaway cot and it was so uncomfortable (thankfully my kids were so tired from skiing that they fell asleep on it). I will be staying elsewhere on my next trip to Breckenridge.
