Do not waste your money. Upon arrival, there is no place to park (only valet), so my husband had to drop me off and drive around while I checked us in. The lobby looks nice, but it goes downhill from there. The check-in desk is not lit well and upon arrival their internet was down. I asked where my husband could park so we could unload and the lady behind the desk would not answer me, instead she asked for my name and confirmation number as well as a credit card. I thought ok...maybe she wants to make sure I have a reservation before letting me know about parking. She then charged my card an additional $615! I asked her what that was for and she said they charge $100 per night for incidentals. As we were booked for six nights, I asked what the additional $15 was for and I did not receive an answer. She handed me the keys and then started to walk away. I again asked about parking and unloading. She then said, "We offer vallet for an additional $50/night". I asked about parking ourselves and she said for $47/night you can use the other hotel's parking garage next door, but our customers have told us their system has been glitchy." Upon receiving this information, my husband and I had to pay to park on the street in a two-hour maximum spot to unload our car. Upon arriving at the room, it was dark (even with all of the lamps on), and musty. We unpacked and decided to walk downtown, find more accommodating parking options and grab dinner. Later that evening when we arrived at the hotel they were serving wine in lobby. The person at the front desk told us it was complimentary for those staying at the hotel from 5-6pm for each night of stay. After the bad experience at check-in we decided to partake and thought it was quite nice. Of course they asked for our room number before pouring us a glass. Our first experience with the bathroom "amenities" was that evening. The towels were few and far between, they were rough and stiff. There was no fan, so the entire bathroom fogged when showering. Then sink faucet was loose, the water pressure was non-existent, the bathroom had a musty and moldy smell, and the paint was peeling off of the bathroom door. We crawl into the cold bed (the thermostat in our room did not do anything) and noticed there is only a light comforter with a sheet for a cover on the bed. The pillows were quite uncomfortable too. There is no microwave nor coffee maker provided. Only a tiny fridge hidden behind a cabinet. They did bring us a microwave which we had to place on the bench due to lack of outlets. If you want coffee though, you have two choices. First choice, get dressed and grab some from the lobby before 10am. Second Choice, ask for a coffee maker and then buy your coffee and filters for it. Upon check out, I was informed that they would be charging my card on file an additional $23/night for "amenities". I asked, "What amenities?" The lady behind the counter said, the water in your room, the wine hour, night cap hour, and the $10 credit to the restaurant connected to the hotel. I informed her that we were not told about any of that upon check-in nor did we partake except for wine hour the first night; which we were told it was complimentary. She said, "so you did use the amenities". I was dumb founded and gave her a blank stare. She said, I will take of 5 of the 6 $23 charges since you used the amenities one night. She asked if I would like a printed receipt or email. I told her I would appreciate a printed detailed receipt. I got a receipt for the amenities charge. They would not give me a receipt for the $615 "hold" for "incidentals" nor what I paid for the room. Considering the amount they charge per not plus all of the additional fees on top of that for, I would expect much nicer accommodations, friendlier and more informative staff, plus items like a microwave that are considered standard these days.…
My favorite Kimpton hotel to date! Beautiful lobby, service was excellent and location can't be beat. Also, the front desk upgraded us due to my husband's Spire status and since we booked through Amex. Kudos to Elise with guest services for being so sweet and helpful! We stayed here twice in 2 weeks and will be our first choice when we return. Very nice restaurant in the hotel too with a great happy hour!
When I first told friends where I was staying in Denver, they all said, "It is a pleasurable eclectic experience". I was not sure what that meant, but I went in with intrigue. From the moment I arrived, in the snow I might add, the warm of the Hotel Monaco was felt immediately. The "door people" were extremely helpful and welcoming. The front desk staff were very accommodating and very complimentary. Helped with finding a restaurant for a snack after a long trip. The room was very nicely decorated, with extremely high ceilings! Made you feel like you were in a much bigger space. Bathroom was decorated very well, with subway tile all the way up, with barndoor shower doors. Wonderful movable vanity mirror. However, there are little unexpected extras... Yoga mat, umbrella, and of course robes, just to name a few. The lobby has a wonderful sitting area, wine tasting, and a fireplace. Great atmosphere. I highly recommend this hotel. Glad I stayed. I came for business, but plan to go back for pleasure.…
We have loved this hotel each time we’ve stayed there and this visit over Christmas was no exception! We know properties have had challenges in recent years but the Monaco was wonderful as usual with just a couple of areas that weren’t quite up to what we have experienced in the past. First though particular credit goes to front desk person Lyle who was terrific! He managed the front check-in by himself over the holidays and even though we saw that people had to wait in line to check-in at times or have needs handled, Lyle gave everyone the time & attention they needed! He was excellent managing this short staff situation. Valet service was adequate for car service but it was difficult to get assistance with luggage because the valets had their hands full with parking/retrieving cars! The cityscape guest rooms are lovely and the evening great room happy hour was fun as usual! We’ll look forward to our next stay at the Monaco!…
Arrived at this place and was treated in a very rude way by a new manager , and when I asked her why she was treating us that way , she told us we could cancel and go elsewhere , that’s my only complain , the restaurant was excellent , but this manager really is not fit for working in a place like this, she lacks proper manager attitude.
Overall a good stay. Great IHG rewards recognition (including a good upgrade), boutique feeling, and prompt valet car service. Very limited housekeeping staff so we had to wait in the lobby quite a while for our room to be ready (and we checked in after the stated time). Understandable but a bit annoying. Good location.
I can't say enough good things about this lovely hotel. We were there for a Christmas girls' trip. The staff, especially Lyle in the evening, went out of their way to make sure our stay was special. We enjoyed the nice wine at the complimentary happy hour and the small "nightcap" drink offered from 8 to 10 p.m. The onsite restaurant Panzano is amazing for breakfast. There are great restaurants nearby too like Apple Blossom. You can walk just about anywhere. Stay here and enjoy! You won't regret it!
It was a great time from start to finish! Natalie was amazing as well as the rest of the staff! We decided to stay here while doing a staycation and it was a blast. We would totally stay here again! Thank you all for everything!
Location is good, personnel are well trained and attentive. Finish in rooms is inexpensive. The regulator in shower did not work and there was no mix of hot and cold water. The internet service is deficient and unacceptably slow. Unable to load some websites and others are very slow. No coffee or breakfast available in hotel.
Amazing Staff! Incredibly Kind and Helpful! Really enjoyed the amenities and offerings and Pazano was a perfect and well integrated dining compliment. Did not spend a ton of time at the hotel, but in the time I was there, there were no real issues to report.
