Get ready to kick back and enjoy the swankiest retro hostel experience of a lifetime in our 9,000 sq ft historic mansion with boutique amenities and chill people! Ember is curated to warm your toes and feed your soul. Designed with boutique comfort: train car style bunks with pillow tops mattresses, plush king size pillows, in-bed outlets/lights/storage and privacy curtains, as well as individual full tile showers. All that and a revered social atmosphere! Kick back by the fire pit on our friendly patio, join friends in the gigantic 12 person hot tub, or grab some espresso and read a book by the original fireplace. We also offer secluded co-working space for the digital nomads! Our staff is also made up of travelers. They are here to give their best local suggestions and lead our weekly events. Our hostel is located in Cap Hill just a short walk from the state capitol, downtown bars and an awesome music scene. Once the home of Denver’s elite, the neighborhood has urban character, eclectic architecture (historic mansions, such as ours) and is well known as a haven for young artists, musicians, and bohemians (Jack Kerouac loved it here). Near us is Colfax Avenue, which is the concert and live music hub of Denver! The Fillmore Auditorium, The Ogden Theater, as well as numerous late-night bars, coffee shops, thrift stores and restaurants are just blocks away. The Denver Art Museum, Santa Fe Arts District, and South Broadway bar scene are also walking distance from the hostel. Ember is happy to provide you with the following FREE amenities: • 12 person Spa Jacuzzi (closed on Mondays for regular cleaning) • Outdoor Fire Pit and Friendly Back Patio • Privacy Bunks with Blackout Curtains, Outlets, Shelves, Lighting, & Storage • Super Fast Wi-Fi • Complimentary Espresso, Coffee & Tea • Guest Lounge • Daily Housekeeping • Curated Tours & Activities • Guest Laundry • Concierge Service • Complimentary Luggage Storage • Free On-Site Parking • Linens and Towels provided • 24 Hour Reception Cancellation policy: 24 hours before arrival or guest will be charged for the first night stay and the remainder of the reservation will be cancelled. Taxes not included - 14.75% Breakfast not included. Credit/debit card used must match the government issued ID of guest. One person per twin bed. Must be at least 18 years (or email for approval). Ember Hostel is a Great old converted mansion with nice features ,Stain glass , beautiful woodwork and lovely porch. You can enjoy the large Hot tub , fire pit 420 area, free coffee , equipped kitchen, and the nicest staff you could ask for. I spent 3 nights there in a co-ed 18 person room. It was clean, very comfortable, and located pretty easy to get around and it felt very safe. As an older solo traveler everyone was so fun and helpful. I traveled to museums, the zoo, Botanical gardens , drove out to the Rocky Mts and Red Rock and hit up lots of local eateries and fun bars. After a long day of exploring Ember was like coming home. People were new friends who wanted to talk about what they were doing and what you did that day. Then beer pong, or out to Karaoke or even one night people chipped in for a barbecue on the patio. My experience at Ember and in Denver will be a fond one forever. Thanks Ember Hostel .

Booked in advance. National Hostel World reservation. Holiday weekend July 4th. Volunteers and most staff were very nice. Place was clean and the developing needs of the travelers were anticipated and provided for within reason. That is the good. The bad is that there are folks that travel this way who are not terribly responsible for personal health care. Don't get me wrong, these are good people however, close proximity and prolonged contact with the streets have softened their resolve to be proactive and disciplined about the specific behavior of self care. After a four night stay, I came away with a viral condition that caused a need to isolate for a period after returning home. I realize the good, the bad and the indifferent are relative to our frame of reference. The indifferent for me in this example took shape as I had prolonged contact with the general manager. In her defense, dealing with all the personalities and various stages of need has to be exhausting. When you talk over what a guest is asking to answer a question that is anticipated but incorrectly assumed, things can get frustrating. When problems in serving guests are preventable and or easily correctable, answering the wrong question because of an OCD need to be efficient truly serves no one. My stay included the good, housekeeping was excellent, The bad, I incurred disrespectful behavior and additional charges because the general manager may indeed be managing extreme burnout, and the indifferent? An example here is that the regular clientele are adaptive and forgiving due to having in some cases, no where else to go. Bottom line? If you are immunocompromised or have a thin skin for slights, abrupt answers to questions, or are of an age where decency and respect are a staple of your personal value set, I ask again, is this really what you want?

Response from Thea Delamater, General Manager at Ember Hostel
Responded 21 Nov 2022
Wow, just wow. As the general manager in question, I had to look up who even this guest was, not knowing whom I had spent prolonged contact with. But, then it all came flooding back to me. Bradley took full advantage of the hostel, in all manners, and our staff was incredulously indulgent with his requests. He was charged only what he confirmed via Hostelworld and no further charges were processed by the hostel. And Bradley making claims against my character and diagnosing me with mental illnesses, is right in line with his behavior while he was in the hostel. Sir, you have given yourself away in this nonsensical tirade. To prospective guests, please read the thousands of other online reviews that speak to the true nature and atmosphere of Ember Hostel.

Stayed one night to attend a concert downtown Denver. This place is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. Private rainfall showers, huge hot tub, private parking, superbly comfortable bed ( cannot state that enough! ) The pillow, mattress and covers are 5stars, with great blackout privacy curtains. The staff was helpful and so friendly. I met some super chill guests. I'll definately be back. Great location! Thanks! -Christina L.

I talked to a female host in morning about my card. I went back at night and the male host threated to kick me out if I talked to his girl. Then also stated he had my ID. He then called the cops on me for being weird.

Hard to respond to completely fabricated lies. But, we only call the cops when a guest is displaying threatening behavior towards other people at the hostel.

Great location in Capital Hill, very walkable neighborhood. Parking isn't too hard to find. Loved the rain shower in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the comforter super soft. Very clean and modern. The rear deck is a great hangout spot at night. Colorado is a outdoor destination, but Denver has great restaurants and bars like any major city in America. It's the Mile High City for a reason.

Great hostel within walking distance of many things. Cozy, private beds. Clean and plentiful restrooms and amazing shower that I didnt want to end. Delicious endless espresso and nice little smoking spot outside, and a hot tub! If youre a fan of Twin Peaks, you will love the subtle nod to the show! I need to find another excuse to return, I loved it! I love staying at hostels because you always seem to meet interesting people from around the globe.

This was our first time to stay in a hostel, but we were very pleased! The staff was very friendly & helpful...we even hung out with a couple of them in the hot tub on their off days. We had a private room, but I was skeptical at first on the shared restrooms but it actually wasn't bad at all. The decor throughout is AMAZING & I loved all of it! EVERYTHING in the hostel is so clean. Conveniently located close to lots of good restaurants & fun things to do. We will definitely stay here again if we're back in town.

Inagine staying in a Victorian mansion, complete with fireplace in the main parlor and a fainting couch in the back parlor, elegant staircase with a large stained glass window at the landing. Now add a hot tub and a fire bar with stools on the back patio. Like I said, classy. The beds have lockable storage, privacy curtains, a good light, etc., and the bathrooms are very nice for a hostel. The location is also very good, within walking distance of museums, restaurants, and protest march routes. I not only would stay there again, I'm booked for another stay later this month!

I was in Denver for work and decided to stay behind an extra day to see a little bit of what Denver had to offer. I read so many awesome reviews about Ember Hostel, it seemed like a no-brainer to book. Well, lemme tell ya...it was awesome! I actually felt (and still do feel) stupid for not extending my trip. I can be a bit introverted and in true hostel nature, I met some really dope people within an hour of checking in. We made dinner plans and ended up getting dinner together and bar hopping later that evening off Larimer and ended the night with drunken chatter until 5 am in the hot tub. I stayed in a 4 bed dorm and the bed was insanely comfy. I loved that my bunk had wall plugs and a lamp inside. Getting to that top bunk was a little tricky bc there's no handle up there, but I persevered. (Trying to get up there after an evening of drinking is an extreme sport lol) In the area, there's lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance and even more a short uber ride away. The common areas had super cute decor and I loved that there was coffee in the lobby area. I CANNOT WAIT to return!

This hostel was very comfortable and worth the price. I stayed there for 2 days and I enjoyed my time there. I met a lot of travelers there who were like me just looking for a place to stay while exploring the wonderful city of Denver. The showers are cleaned daily and the beds were pretty comfortable and I am 6 feet tall.
