The rooms are spacious, bathrooms modern. The lobby is antique chic. There is a computer room that has modern equipment in a delightfully antique setting as well as a library. The continental breakfast is expansive with delightful places to eat. The staff is very accomanating and helpful. The elavator is original and miniscule. The beds are antique and very high....

We have been in Durango a couple times before to ride the train, but this was our first time at the General Palmer. Wish we would have thought of this place before. It is outstanding in all regards. History. Décor. Rooms. General ambience. Gracious personnel. We were on the third floor overlooking Main St. and had no issues with street...

We spent three nights. Room was clean and updated. Maid service was timely. The valets (Ryan & Ian) were very helpful, professional and friendly. This hotel can not do anything about the noise on the street. We were on the third floor facing College avenue. They have room on the south side that are less noisy. You can walk to...

The antiques were really cool, the breakfast room was cozy and well stocked, and though we stayed in an annexed part of the hotel. One of the staff informed us that the elevator is the oldest working elevator this side of the Mississippi so naturally we had to take a ride! Overall it was the perfect place to stay after...

Loved this place. Stayed here for 4 nights in August. Perfect for visiting Durango and all that it has to offer, which is a lot. It is next to the Durango-Silverton railway station and museum and yes, you do hear the trains when they become active in the morning but that is not until you would be up and about...

We stayed here while doing genealogy searches in the San Juans. Extremely clean and well furnished with antiques..you truly feel like you are back in time. Breakfast was good. Location is perfect to enjoy downtown Durango. Also very good parking in small town.

We visited Durango for the first time and wanted a nice centrally located hotel with convenient parking near the train station, with easy walking distance to good restaurants and bars. The General Palmer Hotel is the perfect choice for anyone with similar desires. The hotel has 30 rooms in the main building and an additional 9 rooms on the second...

The General Palmer is a nice, historical hotel. There were new furnishings where needed, but the hotel was still decorated with Victorian furnishings. We also loved the old timey, quaint elevator. The breakfast was very good as well, especially the warm scones.

We've stayed here before and wouldn't stay anyplace else when in Durango to ride the Durango to Silverton Narrow Gauge Steam Train. Great staff, great rooms, great breakfast and great teddy bears. It's right next door to the train Depot. Beds are confident and all amenities provided!

Generally a very nice hotel, located right next to the train station so very convenient if taking it to Silverton. Good, friendly staff. Good size room, very clean with very comfortable bed. The room I had was internal, so no windows, which was a first - and a bit odd. If this is an issue, best to check when booking....

Named after General William Jackson Palmer who established the hotel in 1898, the General Palmer is the only historical Four Diamond Hotel in Southwestern Colorado. Each room has been hand decorated in the Victorian era with luxurious amenities.
