This hostel was the first we stayed in when we arrived in New Zealand, we arrived late but the staff left the key for us at reception. When we got in our room, they'd left a light on and it looked so cosy and inviting, just perfect! I had corresponded with them via email as a parcel from home was... More

The staff is helpful and friendly. The hostel is housed in a nice home/building in a save quiet neighbourhood. A small shopping centre with supermarket is just a few minute walk away, just as teh busstop to the centre. I walked to the centre several times, it's about 30 minutes. The dorms are not very big, but they're ok and... More

Pentsland Hostel is located in a fantastic part of Auckland, it is walking distance to Mt Eden domain and has quick access to the centre of town and the airport. The hostel has plenty of free parking if you have a car (useful for getting out & about around Auckland). The garden is an excellent place to hang out and... More

It is not in the center but in a quite area in the mount Eden area. You need to take a bus to get somewhere. However there is a supermarket nearby and also some good (Asian) restaurants. The staff was very friendly. When I was there a lot of people stayed for a long time in the hostel because they... More

First of all I don't know why this is called a Bed and Breakfast because they certainly don't do breakfast here. :/ This is a lovely backpackers located near Mt. Eden. Location wise it's very close to the train station and bus stop with very cheap fares for getting into the city. If you like walking it's also not too... More

Stayed at the hostel for a couple of weeks and despite it being in a very good location and having very nice facilities if you spend longer than a couple of nights you might see the crack appear. The staff seem lovely and friendly when you first arrive but their incompetence will soon shine through. They messed up our booking... More

I don't have anything bad to say about Pentlands. We loved this cosy, comfortable and friendly backpackers. Pentlands is a backpackers converted from two large colonial houses, in a beautiful, quiet, leafy suburb called Mt Eden. We travelled as a couple, and we stayed in a double room for 2 nights. The room was big, immaculate and had a great... More

After staying in a not so nice backpackers in the city this was a refreshing change and great location. The double room that we had was clean, had plenty of space and a great view. The whole atmosphere was very chilled out and all the other guests were very friendly, including a very helpful couple from Finland. The location of this backpackers... More

Stayed here for 2 nights in a single room to find my feet and get over jet lag. A nice, clean place. Could do with a little cosmetic make over (a lick of paint). Very happy staying here, nice ad quiet and the staff were very helpful. Wifi is a little expensive and the video library could do with an... More

Pentlands is located in Mt. Eden, which is a nice quiet suburb of Auckland. We stayed there previously in 2004 and were happy with the environment. The new owners haven’t changed much, and the place was quiet and peaceful for our one night there this trip. Kate checked us in, answered all our queries, gave us directions to shops and... More
