Five of us spent the night and got up very early to climb a nearby fourteener. While the motel is dated it was clean and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Even asking if we needed more towels.

We were there for three nights. The room was clean when we arrived, but no housekeeping after that. We had just never heard of this. The bathroom and shower were the smallest we had ever seen. In the shower stall you couldn't bend forward enough to wash you knee without hitting your head on the shower wall. The room was...

My wife and I just go home from a weekend in Lake City. We stayed 2 nights at the Matterhorn and it was very nice. We only ran into the lady that was running the place once, when we arrived, and she was very friendly and helpful. (We were out having fun all day, so we weren't in the room...

This is the 2nd time we've stayed at the Matternhorn. Employees are always upbeat, friendly, they're pet-friendly. They're accommodating and helpful. The motel is walking distance to everything in town, including the ice park, which was the purpose of our trip. It's near the running trail in town, and the forest road that passes the ice park. Very convenient. I...

This place is so charming and is nestled against a mountain with decent views of Lake City. The mountain views are fantastic and the night sky is just amazing. The room itself is perfect for one or two people, if you don't need a lot of space (which I don't) Cleaner than most high end hotels I have stayed at,...

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and thank you for you kind and informative review of The Matterhorn. Nicole, our manager, is the very best with her attention to detail and guests do notice the cleanliness. Guests also comment frequently on how peaceful the location is and it is definitely a plus to be mountainside and off the main...

This motel is possibly as good as you can get in Lake City, CO. We loved the town and its "down-home" small-town vibe, yet in traveling there one must scale down expectations (except for Bruno's Restaurant - separate review)! Matterhorn Mountain Motel is run by a very friendly lady who appears to run a one-lady show and keeps a very...

We stayed here two nights while hiking in the area. The rooms are clean and pretty comfortable. The bathroom shower is extremely small. There is no air conditioning, so keep that in mind if visiting during a hot time of year. A fan is provided though.

Yes, the rooms are clean. But they are small, and they are very dated. The bathroom is very small, and the shower is tiny. And, unless you request it the night before, there is no housekeeping. We were not made aware of this, and were very surprised to come back to our room after hiking a fourteener to find the...
