We had a great stay here after some grueling hikes on the Colorado Trail nearby. We knew we would not get there till late, ~10PM, so they left the key under the door mat so we could get into the room whenever we got there. Very comfortable double room with a king bed in the main room and a queen bed in the other room. The bathroom was off the 2nd room. All for the same price as a regular hotel room. It was nothing fancy per se but an excellent value! This gave us plenty of room to spread out out gear! There is a TV in each room. Everything was nice and clean. The bed was very comfortable with a very sturdy real log frame. Perfect furnishing for the area. I checked several of the other rooms and most were similar double rooms too. I will definitely stay here again when I come back to LC!

We needed a good night’s sleep after a rough day in the passes on our adventure motorbike. Silver Spur was just right with a friendly check in and instructions for firing up the heating. I left something behind in the room and the staff kindly agreed to send it on. Above and beyond.

As a disclaimer, we just hiked 10 days and a cot under a tree would have been appealing to us. So with that in mind, the rooms were spacious and quite clean. Having a small kitchenette and two separate bed rooms was nice. The rooms are old, but functional. The staff are friendly and hard working. Don’t expect a 5*hotel, enjoy the town around you. It’s walking distance to the entire town and has beautiful views of the mountains all around. The rooms are stuffy at night, so sleep with the windows open. And if the neighbors are noisy, it’s best to join them and not be frustrated by them. There were quite nice. And no it’s not cheap for what you get. But you’re paying for the convenience and location. Enjoy!

This place should be shut down. My husband and I walked into our room and immediately walked out. So glad I didnt set anything down because there were stains on the bed linens and the room smelled awful. We walked straight to the car and stayed at the Holiday Inn across the street. Will never visit here again!

Stayed in room #4 for two nights. Is just a basic room with two beds, and bathroom. We did have cable, which was a plus. The room was clean, the beds were clean, the bathroom was clean. The place is kinda dated, but we liked it. We had a couple problems like the light wouldn't work above the bed, the toilet wouldn't flush and we had to keep lifting the lid to get it to flush, and the towel rack fell when we went to pull a towel off. Nothing really too aggravating that bothered us enough to complain or anything. If you're a person that's really annoyed by mishaps, I don't think this would be the place for you, haha. There is a window in the shower that opens up to the outside...it was seriously the best feeling to be taking a hot shower and crank that thing open and the cool air coming inside. Also, we had a problem with being charged twice for the two night stay, but they took care of the problem over the phone.

Stayed in a room with a kitchenette. Despite what other reviews say, I thought the major drawback was the dirty kitchen area. The top of the microwave had an impressive layer of dust on it as well as the inside looking as if it hadn't been wiped out in a while. There were no dish towels or dish cloths provided just a previously used sponge, minimal dishes and silverware. There was a dishdrainer under the sink, but it felt so sticky to touch and looked so dirty, we never even used it. On the other hand, these small, remote Western hotels have a tough existence with only a high season of a few months, so I know it is difficult to stay on top of everything. The people who ran it were very nice & accomodating, the location is good, having a kitchenette is convenient. So, we would probably stay there again but bring a can of Lysol and a few dish towels.

The rooms have definitely not been updated, which is kind of awesome. Old wood paneling, kitchenette and built ins. Very clean. Walls are kind of thin but fortunately our neighbors were considerate. Front staff and all staff were extremely kind. Great small town care. Decent value for a beautiful town with no big box vendors.

Soooooo this motel could be more if the owners would invest more. It's old and worn out. The room we stayed in had a kitchenette with sink, stove/oven and refrigerator. When you walked into the room there was a strong smell of propane/gas. Turns out the pilot light was out to a couple of the burners. Had to sleep with all the windows open since the smell never did go away. The door to the freezer in the refrigerator was broken off and the water faucet handles were stripped so it was at best difficult to stop the water from dripping all night. All of the appliances are old, really old and in need of replacement. The bathroom wall paper was peeling up with large strips just hanging from the wall. Black mold in the shower and it's the only bathroom in a motel/hotel that did not have tissue. Had to use toilet paper to blow your nose. Some of the window screens were ripped so having to sleep with the windows opened allowed the local bugs an opportunity to join you in your room. The staff was good and seemed to care. Beds were sort of ok, but they need to be replaced someday sooner rather than later. The outside is kept up but it to needs work on the building. Location is good as it's right around the corner from the center of town and the local coffee shop Chillin which was good. Overall would not go back until the owners invest some money which is sorely needed especially given the nightly rate.

This is my first time visiting Lake City which is a very small community with not many lodging options. During my visit here, I opted to stay at the Silver Spur Motel. The room that I stayed in was a kitchenette, very reminiscent of the motor hotels that was built back in the 50's and 60's. The room was clean, kitchenette nicely stocked, good cable and internet. My major complaint was that I was unable to contact motel management after the front desk closed at 9pm. There is no literature in the room about the motel and when I called the main number for the motel, I got no answer. My second complaint is that there is no central heating/AC in the rooms only a gas wall heater. I don't think that anyone would need AC in the summer with Lake City being at over 8600 feet in altitude but the nights/mornings can get chilly with the outside temperatures going down in the lower 50's. I was just too tired after traveling all day to mess with an older gas wall heater.Luckily, my hoodie that I travel with kept me fairly warm.

We stayed in room 4 for 2 nights! The room smelled very musty had to air it out. No blow dryer, towel rack fell off hanging a towel on it. Pillows are very old and flat. It is in a great location walking distance to food and shopping! If they just do a few updates it would be great!
