Six of us enjoyed the Groupon prosecco tea this afternoon. I had forgotten our vouchers, the staff were charming and helpful and made the situation easy. Our waitress was Charlotte, I cannot praise her too highly she is an asset to the company. Many thanks for a delicious experience.

First time staying at this hotel ever. I will return in the future. My mom and dad also really loved it. The bar is nice. The hotel staff behaved properly as well. This makes all the difference overall. Recommended if you are visiting the area on a business trip.

Stayed here for 2 nights 16th to 18th November 2022. Liked the look as we pulled up, lots of parking and easy check in. At first glance thought room was ok. When unpacking noticed the room and bathroom could do with a deep dust. Also I know we have just had Halloween but they forgot to remove the cobwebs! Pictures provided. Online facilities state a plasma tv in room, not plasma in room. Bar area nice and Bar staff lovely but mind your head! Restaurant nice and Pizza deal good value for money. Breakfasts were very nice and staff at breakfast very helpful. We stayed in a different building to reception and the whole visit there was a unpleasant odour in communal area. The outside seating area looked lovely but unfortunately we were not able to sit there due to rain, would be lovely in the warmer months. No room service but phone in the room and hotel advertises toiletries but not enough shower gel for more than 1 shower.

Check in was smooth. They said the restaurant was closed for lunch (due to the fireworks that evening) but then when we said we were staying there it was open. Food was decent. Pizzas were very small but tasted good. The burger we had for dinner though was bland and under seasoned. Quite disappointing. The room was a decent size and clean. Some mould on the bathroom walls. Could all do with updating. Shower pressure was good. Bed was uncomfortable and clearly could do with new mattresses. The corridors were also noisy in the morning with lots of people coming and going. The breakfast was OK but there's no way its worth £19.50.

If you are an EV driver you can no longer charge your car at this hotel as they have turned all all three chargers off, In spite of the fact they continue to advertise availability of these in their literature. Not an issue to all guests, I accept but something EV drivers appreciate and do not appreciate finding out on arrival. The management of the hotel should be ashamed that they have let this once fine building deteriorate in the way that it has has. They can’t even keep it clean or in reasonable repair. I will be travel ing frequently to this area but won’t be staying there again.

We won this stay at a charity auction, marketed as a luxury hotel stay with champagne terrace and we could not have been more disappointed. Mould in the shower and the shower door was just about hanging on, stained carpets, dirty mugs and furniture was very shabby where the paint had peeled off. The restaurant was not much better either, my evening meal was bland and the toilets were filthy. Breakfast very expensive for what it was. We were supposed to stay for two nights but left a day early as we would rather have been at home.

We visited September 2022, Beautiful old building shame about the rooms , the stench in the bathroom was smelt all through the bedroom , on inspection of the bathroom was horrified to see it had not seen a drop of bleach or mold and mildew remover , furniture very worn, bed sheets seemed clean , I suggest the cleaners take a course on hygiene , it is not rocket science to rid the bathroom of stains and odours in this day and age with the products on the market , didn’t use shower as it was filthy and the mixer tap had the red and blue button missing just holes. The twist part of both sides of the taps wobbly as if they needed screwing back in. Was not just the black mold on the shower tray that put us off ,,,but after lowering my head could see the toilet rim had never been cleaned in months??? This was in the new building not the older part . Will not be visiting here again , because of the hygiene level in the rooms we decided not to eat in the restaurant in fear of what the kitchens would be like 🤨

Good parking. Reception good. Yaff are great. Room nice. No air-con (unusual for a 4* hotel). Bed was soft and uncomfortable. Lots of noise from neighbouring rooms and cleaners the next morning. My big issue was the breakfast. We had this included in the room price. Otherwise it would have been an eye watering £19.50 each. The sausage was tiny and tasteless. The poached eggs were way over and swimming in water. And the baked beans literally thrown over most of the plate. I have left a restaurant review too about the fantastic pizza and terrible burger. For a "bespoke" hotel the restaurant food was not great. Great location though. Perfect fir the Ripley fireworks.

The best thing about the Talbot is the warm, friendly and helpful staff. Nothing ever seems too much to ask. We have been holding our quarterly meetings here for several years and plan to continue doing so. The events rooms are well sized and very comfortable. The Events team are so helpful in getting things organised. We usually have lunch and then meet in the afternoon. Lunch is always very good, the staff are attentive and helpful. I recommend booking direct with the hotel, we always get the best deals this way. Rooms are clean and comfortable, location is quiet and they have Tesla chargers.

Went here for afternoon tea and really enjoyed the experience. Food was tasty from fresh sandwich fingers to the warm scones with jam and cream. Plenty of tea too. Service was friendly and efficient, and the glass of champagne was lovely touch. Would certainly visit again.
