Aseania Resort Pulau Besar is the best among all. The resort have water heater, Mini fridge, comforter, cool aircon, best view from the room, 3swimming pools, variety meals from local to international dishes. Staff treats us like family. Staffs understand our needs without further describing. Minimum bugs in the room and next to the hotel is local stays where they open warung and coconut stall. They're friendly too..
Meals are: pancakes, porridge with 7 side dishes, meehoon with egg slices, seafood fried rice, mushroom soup, chicken chop, pineapple chicken curry, samba fish, etc. The spicy food is not spicy and the combination is perfect for adult and kids. Overall, we are happy with the food.
I also want to compliment all the Aseania's staff. Kudos to you all, great job. From jetty staff to kitchen and waiters, gardener and staff clean our room. Special thanks to top chef. My 4 days stay gain 2 kg. Thank you

If you ever néed a dose of vitamin sea, this serene little island can be your choice of rest & relax. Powdery white beach, clear blue sky, clean blue sea.. Arsenia resort just located at the beachfront, you can enjoy your meals at the deck while enjoying the sea breeze and the picturesque view.

We have been there only 3 days because it is a small island but maybe we could stayed longer. The owner told us: "if you need something do not hesitate to ask." And it was a true. There were only a few guests and thats why they canceled meals a la carte. But every time they served about 4 types of meals with a great taste. Last dinner we got shrimps, mussles and butter fish. Very luxury. The first lunch was fish and chips-I really don't like eat british meals in Asia, we asked for a change to traditional meal for next lunch and they did it although it must be much more work for them. The staff was absolutely great.
The resort is beautiful, maybe a little bit older, but you can see it only in a small details. Everything works. So comfortable beds! And the last thing-they make delicious cocktails and beer on tap. The bartender is a real professional. I wish them many visitors.

Please bring your own bug removal spray as the beds are infested with HUGE BED MITES. People who were staying at the resort including me and my friends were covered in baking sodas because of the bites.

The hotel staff just takes note and said that the bugs were coming in thru the window panels. Maintenance spray RIDSET insect spray on the mattresses.

Spent money going to the clinic to get a jab. The scares are ugly on the feet and buttocks and it still itches until today when exposed to heat.

I have booked a 3D/2N package with my husband & 2 other couple friends to Pulau Besar for the Good Friday hols on 14 May 06. However I packed up & left after 1 night stay at the Aseania Resort. This place is probably the worst I have stayed in my entire travelling experience. I don’t expect luxury for the little amount we paid for, but I do expect basic/standard cleanliness of the surrounding, room/bathroom & clean drinking water. There was a swimming pool but it should be called an algae pool and a breeding heaven for the mosquitoes. The pool water was so dark & filthy that I had thought it was a mud bath for the hotel guests. Fine, we could live with the filthy pool as long as we stayed away from it. But not for the drinking water. The drinking water served was dirty and filled with many tiny particles. The water was in whitish colour and looked like they have dissolved calcium tablets in it. You need to close both eyes and courage to drink it. All utensils, plates & cups were dirty and not cleaned probably. Food served was limited and the guests would snap up all food while the slower ones will have to wait for round 2 & 3....Having a meal there is not enjoyable when u have to kill/fend off the mosquitoes while eating. Must-bring items: Insect repellent/medicated oil & bottled mineral water!! Otherwise go elsewhere for your holiday!

First if you havent' booked a package, you have to take into account the speed boat transportation in addition: 90 rm per pers/ per way.

When you arrive near to the Island, you see That they are building a new jetty: its really noisy whereas you come on this Island to find quietness.... When it Will be finished, it Will be better
Besides, we were unlucky cause there was petrol some the beach...
According to other travellers there was a storm which make it hapens.
The Island is Nice without this.

Coming to the hotel, we were welcomed with an orange juice, good point.
We were given the key to our bungalow, luggage is brung to your room.

Then the night mare begins! The bungalow is old fashion, the bed was not cleaned (some yellow marks on), fridge was dirty... The lamp broken with mold...
The room smells with a particular smell...
We asked to change sheets!

On booking.com, it was written That it left only few rooms, whereas the hotel was almost empty...

On the restaurant: no mans land! Nobody eats there.
We understand why after having à breakfast there... Tables are dirty, beer cans...

To sum up: avoid this place!
Its not a good place to stay...

In my career of the travel industry I have stayed in Five Star Properties and in One Star Hotels in India but this property could be upgraded at little cost with cleanliness and general maintainence.

Our stay of six nights was enough and on arrival two hours early at 11am we requested if possible that if possible could we gave an earlier check in but the staff of ladies on reception were not forthcoming and barked 3.00pm ...no rooms ready

First impressions were not good and staff spirit was non existent so we left our cases and went off for a walk and lunch and duly returned at 3.00pm again was told rooms not ready 30 minutes longer I expressed my unhappiness and within 10 minutes we had keys to a room on the lower level room 8116.

To be honest we understood we had booked a budget property but the standard, quality and cleanliness of the room was dire.

Mould on bathroom tiles and bedroom wall plus no hot tap in bathroom sink and laughable joke of shower was the electric socket in the shower with bare wires !!

Linens & AC was the best thing in the room and after a good night sleep we went for breakfast ..OMG it was like a school canteen , one queue of 15 people waiting for omelettes & fried eggs plus an offering of really non edible dishes apart from the fresh fruit and toast it was a cheap offering of nothing. So there after we ate our breakfast outside as it was worth the £3 per day to enjoy good coffee & fresh crossaints.

Anybody needing a tad of luxury this is not the place to be but if it's somewhere to ay your head then book ahead for the bargain.

Should the management read this the property needs a deep clean & team of staff that welcome guests that want to return or knock it down & rebuild.

The reason this beautiful island still feels undiscovered is because nobody should dare staying at this place. Just like the other reviews, food is really bad. I still haven't been able to identify what food group the condiments were for the breakfast rice porridge. Just tried washing the experience down with their very expensive alcohol. Rooms very old, leaking, and frightening uneven holes underneath the moldy carpet. I'm surprised nothing bigger than cockroaches got through. Tried to leave early but couldn't get monies back. That's why they insisted you pay cash up front. Tried to complain to mpanager on some issues but he's insisted that he's never had any problems for 30 years. Now I know how old that picture is on their website.

Unexpectedly wonderful Pulau to be. Great service, beautiful nature and clean. I hope all the guests don't taint it and keep it clean too. It's sad if they leave plastics and bottles around.
I saw some comments regarding no water, but I didn't experienced water pressure problem during my 3D2N stay with my 13 year old brother for his school holiday.
We were welcomed with carts at the jetty. We were naughty enough to jump on it (it's for our bags actually). They served us nice welcome drink too.
The resort have snorkeling at rm65 but you must have 8 pax quota. Otherwise you could go to their neighbor, Besa Bambu for rm80 per pax. We did. Still satisfied.
We even hiked but we have no time to kayak.
I love the bed! We have 2 beds unexpectedly. I took the master bed and my lil' brother took the single bed.
The swimming pool not my favourite but no problem because the water at the beach made my day everyday.
1 small prOblem: I prefer to use my credit card (to collect points and convenience) instead of cash when I spend my money on vacation. My only concern is, I hope the resort could state earlier that no credit card facility is available... Or better still make it available in the future.

200 dollars a night? The owners are on another planet if they think this place is anywhere close to being worth that. We left after 2 nights and managed (after a few phone calls to KL) to be refunded for the third that we'd already paid for.

The breakfast/lunch/dinner was a joke. Even my 100lb wife was hungry the whole time, so I was starving! The quality of what we did get to eat was awful as well. The tipping point was when we got 2 slices of toast and 2 pancakes for breakfast. When I asked for an egg I was told it would be an additional charge. Laughable service for $200 a night.

Unfortunately, I can't make recommendations for alternative accommodation on here, but I can sure recommend where not to stay...HERE! (unless you like terrible-value-for-money holidays)

This review might sound slightly annoyed. In fairness I'm annoyed at myself as well that I even stayed a second night. Don't waste your money like I did. Stay somewhere nicer for cheaper (pretty much anywhere else). I'd sooner burn $200 than stay here again.

Side note:
- Had to switch rooms because air con broken in first one. Second room the bathroom ceiling was leaking whenever it rained so you got a shower even if you didn't want one!
- Beach is not raked in the morning so is dirty from all the stuff that blows off the trees. Could look nice if they took the time to give it a once-over every day.
- Can't see the bottom of the pool; it is that murky.

Happy holidays indeed ;)

Hello About price of accommodation I really dont know. I booked half year ago :-). But you can try Agoda. Price of transfer is 550 RM for private boat (only one way) or 110 RM for person for public boat which goes at 12:30 p.m. from Mersing.

Hi, I'm not familiar from KUL-Mersing. there are always buses and taxies ofcourse. Taxies and rental cars are cheap in Malaysia. The best way to check the boat times is with the hotel you will be staying at the Island. Most hotel package includes meals and boat transport. Since the tide is changing all the time, the hotel will update you accordingly.
