Our room had broken blinds in the bathroom (could see right out to the main road and likely from the main road into the bathroom) and a softball-sized hole in the wall. The keys to the room had to be jiggled and the knob turned at the same time for them to work. The location to the beach and a dog-friendly hotel were the primary reasons for our stay at Hotel Dewey. Overall, it was quiet until someone else with a dog was put in the room next to us, causing our dog to start barking in the dark hours. The private patio was nice, although a screen door would have been really nice so we could have kept it open for fresh air since the AC unit was probably from the 90's and extremely loud. We had a bulb go out our 2nd night so we had no light until we were completely in the room. Fun walking around in the middle of the night. The handicap access from the parking lot to the entryway was storage for full garbage bags of who know's what. No sidewalk rooms, the first floor of rooms was up a flight of steps or a slow elevator. Not a lot of outlets unless you plug into the ones at the kitchenette sink and stove area. Staff was friendly. Close proximity to Downtown Dewey and Rehoboth.…
Quiet, very clean, well managed by Andrew, so close to restaurants, walking distance to beach, elevator, view of ocean, free parking under roof keeps car clean, showers have great water pressure and hot water, kitchenette with 2 electric stove burners, great freezer and fridge, nice table and chairs on private balcony, accepts dogs, we loved it!
The hotel staff was very kind and although the hotel fronts the Hwy- the beach was just steps away. Our room was basic but clean. However, right outside our door was a very large grey industrial dirty open trash can. Not only did it smell it looked like it belonged in the garage not in the hallway of a hotel. In addition, the overall property is in much need of repairs and refreshing. Cracked and broken tiles in lobby, dirty stained carpets in hallways, shabby furniture and chipped paint in common areas. And then there is the area in general. Should have read reviews more carefully. This is clearly a college kids get-away area. Loud music pouring from all the restaurants and bars. No boardwalk so Must walk along busy Main Street/HWY to access restaurants etc. This general clientele clearly can impact the stay. Although we had no issues with noise etc. there is a set of rules taped to the counter of the front desk that lay out how many people can be in a room, penalties for damages and noise restrictions and evictions that can take place if needed. Those clear warnings wouldn’t be necessary unless those offenses were regularly seen at this establishment.…
Staff is always amazing and accommodating. This was my 3rd year in a row. Clean, simple and close to everything! They also love pups and staff will check on them if you’re out for dinner longer than expected !!! 10/10 will be back next year and for years after!
Is not a hotel; its a cheap motel. It’s a horribly maintained property that charges exorbitant rates Rust on all the hardware in the room, a/c blowing all night, musty. I understand raising rates because it’s season, but this is highway robbery.
Friendly and accommodating staff. Clean. Easy to make reservations, no hassle and no mix ups. Convenient location one block from beach, and near some restaurants and pizza. Local breakfast place one block away, a very short walk. On site parking. Generous check out time, 11:00 AM. So the day we leave isn’t a mad scramble. One elevator available, but never crowded. No beach tags required at Dewey beach.
At first arriving we thought it wasn’t too bad, but gradually got worse. We only stayed one night, thank goodness. The freezer didn’t keep the food frozen, there weren’t any plates or anything to go with the kitchenette. There was a hole in the wall and the ceiling had water damage. The top 3 worst things for us was: 1- they only gave us 2 towels when we had a family of 5 and stated it was because the housekeeping was slacking, 2- the shower would go really really hot then really cold in the middle of showering then really hot again and then back to cold, 3- the toilet kept running randomly for no reason. All in all, it wasn’t the WORST hotel we’ve ever stayed at, but it also wasn’t great. A couple of things I can say that were good was the fact that we got a private balcony and the fact that they were nice enough to let us leave our car parked there if we wanted for a little while after check out time. I hate complaining but honestly wouldn’t stay here again.…
Stayed here for a greyhound gathering. They accept dogs, Good. I believe they had been renovating rooms, didnt see any other rooms Our room was in bad condition. Like hole in the wall, other stuff. Management offered a partial refund, was approx. $80? Received $40, tried to get balance, no response from Hotel
Great Hotel for Pets and People! Staff is very friendly and accommodating! It’s our second time and we will return! Nice grassy area for pets. Location is the best, near beach, bay, restaurants and shops!
Only place my buddy and i could find one weekend. It is OK but not up to par with the other places on route 1. the rooms are fair and bathrooms are very tight. we would recommend not being like us and waiting till last minute and having to stay at hotel dewey. We would suggest staying across route 1 closer to the beach at one of the more fun hotels like beach house or Atlantic
